“Hey! Anyone can give me suggestion? I wanted to do the reverse switch lol. Accountant switch to Radiology Tech. Currently at 100K a year. The reason why is wanted to make the switch is: I hate being an accountant now because 1. Stressful month end close every month 2. I still…”

“Hey all, (43m) here. The last 5 years have been a roller coaster so to speak. I formerly worked as an EMT for the EMS division of an urban fire department. Suffered a catastrophic career ending injury. After multiple surgeries, and years of PT, I’m doing ok. My certifications…”
Several posters express uncertainty about their current careers, weighing them against long-held dreams or questioning the stability of their chosen fields. One poster values a $120k salary and full benefits package but considers leaving for a different path like becoming a police officer. Another struggles to find employment despite interviews.

“I have recently started a job as a medical assistant. I planned to use this job as PCE to apply to PA school, but after working as a MA with PA's, I'm not so sure I want to be a PA. The PA's where I work see over 40 patients per day, five days a week. They essentially work 9 hrs per day (one of the hours is an hour "lunch", but they are still expected to chart and call patients during this time, and are not allowed to leave the building). I think all of the PA's go home”
“I am 18 right now living in texas and I know I want to be in healthcare (cardiothoracic trauma surgeon) but idk how to get there. I am really interested in joining the military so they can pay for my education and maybe also get a scholarship to go to medical school. Right now I am taking a medical assistant course so that i can get experience with patients. I also do plan on going to college at TWU, MSU, Rice, or TTU. I have not decided yet. Idk how or what to do so that i can make sure i have”
“Hi yall, I have a really big choice to make. I am 22F, recently graduated college and have been job hunting for about 4 months for a full time position. I am hoping to go to med school eventually, so I am looking for clinical jobs. I finally got a call back from a plastic surgery clinic where I could get clinical and surgical experience. Overall this job would benefit me a lot as a person and help me grow. When I went in for the interview it felt so welcomed there. However, they want me to start”

The reason why is wanted to make the switch is: I hate being an accountant now because 1. Stressful month end close every month 2. I still need to think about the work after work, turning off my laptop. 3. When will I be able to delete outlook and teams on my cell phone? 4. I can’t really take PTO whenever I want. First, I can’t take PTO during the first week”
“I don’t want to have another person’s health in my hands but I also don’t want to be stuck behind a desk for the rest of my life. That might be the route I have to take but I don’t want to be bored and miserable forever. I’m stuck figuring out what I want to do submitted by /u/Few_Plenty_6444 [link] [comments]”
“I already have a degree in criminal justice that has largely been useless. I decided I didn’t want to be a cop anymore when I saw how much they got paid (pre Covid), so pivoted and landed a role in HR. I’ve been working HR for years now as an analyst and idk yall… excel sheets just get old. Quick. And it’s been 3 years since I’ve became an analyst. This semester I went back to school and I’m currently in a hand full of IT classes. A lot of my CJ degree applies to CyberSec, so I’d be halfway done”
“Need a professional opinion. I need to know which of these choices are a better financial decision and just overall better life decision in the long run. I keep thinking between going to a radiation therapy program or a physician assistant program. A little background, I’m 25, I already have a bachelors degree in health science. I have all my prerequisites for radiation therapy program but I have two prerequisites I would need to get done for Physician assistant school. I would also need to take”
“If some of y’all think this is a dumb question, sorry 😬. The reason I’m asking is because I’m at an unusual career and personal crossroads. Deep down, I think part of this is rooted in the fact that I always wished I had pushed through to medical school, but didn’t have the confidence (even though I had a good MCAT score [decades ago]). Regrets (theme 0!) aside, my background is I worked in various odd jobs until I landed on being a PA in my 30s (theme 1: delayed retirement savings because of a”
“26M here. I’m currently a truck driver making decent money, and financially things are better than they’ve been in a while. But I also know I eventually want more out of life, and I’m trying to figure out what direction makes the most sense for me. I’ve been seriously considering joining the military. Part of the appeal is the structure, discipline, change of environment, and the opportunity to start a new chapter. At the same time, I’m not sure if military life is actually what I want long-term”
“Hi y'all, I'm currently a paramedic making ~80,000 a year and working 56 hours a week (58/96). Being on the truck and having to make life changing decisions has been incredibly difficult and exhausting on me, and im looking for something where I can help people but a little less stressful. Additionally, paramedics are kinda capped in the US with upward career trajectories. I don't have a college degree. I love being active and working out. Would becoming a PT be a good career change?”
“Looking for some advice/opinions on the direction to take my career. I’ve been a professional in my field for about 8 years now. I’ve been at my current role for 3 years and it’s at a place that is unionized and offers a pension plan. I’ve been contributing to the pension plan and it’s fully vested after 5 years of service. If I leave before the 5 years of service, I would be able to take my investments towards the pension into a new retirement account. When I initially took this job, I envision”
“I had 20 years of LEO SWAT, DRUG TASK FORCE etc. Had to medical out due to a couple critical incidents. Now I'm asking myself "what do I want to do when I grow up", and I have zero clue. please help with ideas or questions. submitted by /u/GloomyCoyote6072 [link] [comments]”
“I’m kind of torn on what to do and figured I’d get some opinions from people who have actually been in this situation. I’m currently in a career that I honestly love. I make around $120k with 5% increases every year, have a fully funded pension, 401k with a match, fully paid health insurance with a zero deductible, a company car, a lot of freedom, and I get to travel, often taking my family with me. I work for a great company and even get to work closely with my dad. I know how fortunate I am, a”

“I graduated with a B.S in neuroscience. the last year of college i was set on becoming a PA. I was really into the idea of orthopedics and I planned to work as a medical assistant for a couple years before going to PA school (to get patient care experience). I have applied to so many jobs and I can’t find anyone that will hire me. I’ve had so many interviews that go very well and it’d still nothing. I more so know what I do like vs what I don’t. in undergrad: i love when i do well in a class and”
