“I'm writing a story set in the 80s, and I need to give some side characters stuff to talk about/do. It sounds a bit stupid, but I spent my childhood going home and playing games/reading, so I cannot fathom what extroverted girls actually do/did. I was thinking things like window…”
“I read about how all these writers use all these fancy things like Freewrite and all of these crazy apps to let them write without distraction and I have to ask: why not just get a typewriter? I only use them and write at least 1000 words per day every day. No one knows what I…”
“I spent most of my younger years writing short stories along with some failed attempts at really bad novels. I started with notebooks then moved on to a hand-me-down typewriter, then a Word Processor (yes, the machine not a program) and eventually the MS Word app on my laptop…”

“I spent most of my younger years writing short stories along with some failed attempts at really bad novels. I started with notebooks then moved on to a hand-me-down typewriter, then a Word Processor (yes, the machine not a program) and eventually the MS Word app on my laptop. After a creative writing class my senior year of college, I took a short break to focus on starting a day job and raising some babies. Those babies are now in graduate school and older than I was when my writing “break” co”
“I am looking for writing prompt type books, books that give list of words you must in the story and other ways to get myself back into writing. I have always wanted to be a writer but lost several of my books with ideas, prompts, and words to use in the story Books or websites submitted by /u/OscarTheGrouchsCan [link] [comments]”

It sounds a bit stupid, but I spent my childhood going home and playing games/reading, so I cannot fathom what extroverted girls actually do/did. I was thinking things like window shopping, reading magazines. Walking around and talking. But that doesn't seem like a "do this every day" kind of action. For a little context: they'd be 12, growing up to 16 in a somewhat rural tow”
“Hey all, I’ve now written a 32-page longish short story and I’m currently writing a novella on my Hermes 3000 machine from 1964. I know to most people it sounds kind of crazy to be writing on a typewriter / performative / useless, but I have tried writing so many different times on computers and genuinely - writing on a typewriter has allowed me to start writing and end writing with a finished tangible product (even if it’s a first draft). And I think that’s really the key difference - the amorp”
“edit: the title should really be, what’s your day job, apart from writing? I’m a wannabe writer. but I tell myself that I’m too burned out with my current job to write. which might be true, or it might be an excuse. (I stare at a computer and write emails all day, at the end of the day I just want to shut my laptop and stare at a wall - or cry.) anyway. those of you who write and have things published, do you have any other jobs apart from writing and if so, what’s your day job? what jobs do you”
“I saw a post in this sub saying they’re writing a story with a typewriter, is it okay if i can write a story with a computer? submitted by /u/kenjiehere [link] [comments]”
“I have started doing it again for the first time in nearly 20 years. I am less likely to make careless mistakes, because it takes more physical strength and having to hunt for each letter (mechanical typewriters require you to hunt and peck otherwise they jam, more modern typing techniques don’t work). It brings a sense of enjoyment back to my writing. submitted by /u/Boeing-B-47stratojet [link] [comments]”
