Recruiters are experiencing unexpected challenges with AI-powered hiring systems. While intended to streamline the process, these tools often increase workload, slow down hiring, filter out qualified candidates, and exacerbate bias, requiring a re-evaluation of current strategies.

“The idea is not “AI should recruit for you.” It’s more: AI can help a recruiter do the time-consuming parts of sourcing with better structure, if the recruiter gives it the right context. The part I keep coming back to is the intake call. In…”
“Researching Gender Bias in AI-Driven Hiring - and I'd love your input: I am conducting an expert practitioner survey exploring how AI and machine learning tools used in tech hiring can produce gender-biased outcomes and what governance practices actually help mitigate them. This is a part of my UCL postgraduate project. The goal: To build an evidence-based picture of how AI hiring systems are governed in practice - not just how they're supposed to work on paper. If you work (or knows som”
“AI summary in case some havent seen it. The Stanford study was a landmark research project, not a controlled experiment with test applicants, but an analysis of real-world hiring data. Here are some explainers and reactions from creators: The study, titled "Algorithmic Monocultures in Hiring," was conducted by researchers from Stanford University, Chapman University, and Northeastern University. It analyzed over 4 million job applications from 3.4 million applicants to 156 employers ac”
“I keep seeing linked in posts about how AI has revolutionized recruitment, made it faster, cheaper, and more efficient. Companies are able to scan thousands of resumes in seconds, rank applicants, and save hours of time. Cool. So why does applying for jobs feel like throwing your resume into a black hole? I see recruiters also constantly talk about talent shortages and how the younger generations “don’t want to work” but graduates and job seekers are spending literal full-time-job hours submitti”
“A lot of people on IG are misquoting and misrepresenting the study. The study analyzed companies who use VENDORS like HireVue and Pymetrics to help with pre screening and they use AI and historical candidate data to help with. That integrates with ATSs, sure, but that doesn’t mean that suddenly the reason you’re getting rejected is bc of Workday as a whole. And it’s annoying bc it’s burying the actual real concern about the impact of AI and hiring behind sweeping claims that aren’t quite accurat”
“AI has worked its way into a lot of hiring workflows. It seems many HR teams are relying on it for resume screening, candidate ranking, interview scheduling, and even initial outreach.Curious where this community lands. Are you using AI tools for any part of your hiring process right now? submitted by /u/No-Emu-6641 [link] [comments]”
“This recently published study from Stanford proves that many companies utilize artificial intelligence to score each resume and assign that score for up to 330 days. This means that even qualified applicants who improve their resume over a year or less still have the same score, indicating that competent employees may get overlooked and will never see a human recruiter. Based on everything happening in the CS job market, this makes a lot of sense. There is also”
