“I did study the non starred chapters as some of the chapters build onto the starred chapters but it did get to be too much. For example I dedicated a whole day of studying the few days before the exam to cover passive investments, consolidations, etc. And there was maybe one MCQ on alllll of it. “Day 3 is mainly testing breadth as opposed to depth (which is mainly tested in Day 2). So your goal is to hit as many RCs as possible, no point trying to aim for Cs and CDs. Attempt as many AOs as possible and if you have time, you can always go back and expand on it. Everyone struggles with time in the exam so you just have to be at the same level as most people (unless you are aiming for honour roll but getting honour roll doesn’t make a difference in your life).”

“The AACN question bank is far superior. NK is the post-NCLEX version of Mark Kilmek, fancy phrases with enough information to cover topics with broad strokes, but for detailed info, what better source than the makers of the exam? That being said, if money is an issue, the quiz bank is leaked on quizlet. Study the rationales and use AI to explain concepts that are difficult to grasp.”

“Yes, prepped solo and only used PEP materials. I highly suggest rewriting the past exams (they are available in capstone 2 other materials and I think they go back from 2018 or so). Make sure to write them in conditions as if you're taking cfe.”

“I prepped solo. My capstone group was weak so I felt more comfortable marking my own cases rather than trusting their judgement. There are plenty of study plans available and they all include case marking templates. Be honest in your assessments and there's really no need for a study buddy.”

“If you don't have a study group, the CPA Canada discussion boards on the practice cases are worth checking, people post their responses and compare approaches even without a formal group. It's not the same as a standing buddy but it gives you enough external calibration to know if your case structure is actually competitive.”

“Keep a piece of paper in your pocket. If a question isn’t time sensitive or going to have potentially negative repercussions by not immediately knowing, try to find the answer on your own. The difference between good and great in many professions isn’t having all the answers, it’s knowing where to find them. You want to give yourself sometime to work on your weaknesses, and buy supplemental densmore cases as extra practice. Once you have the baby, dedicate 5-6 hours per week and focus on your technicals and in the last 2-3 months prior to the exam just write cases.”
“Think you have to study smarter not harder. I was going to get Densmore, but only started studying with 1.5 weeks to go, didn’t know there was a deadline to purchase. Didn’t end up needing it.
