“I'm growing squash from seed in a raised garden bed this year. The person I'm renting the bed from said shes never had good luck with squash and that some kind of bug or fungus always gets to them before they can fruit (i cant remember which specifically). “They're baking. Newly planted anything needs to be watered more frequently until it's established. The rocks make the situation a little worse, because of how hot they're getting. Why rocks? Are you in Arizona or New Mexico?”

“Hey there 👋🏻 I have never gardened a day in my life until this year. I’ve really gotten into it and I’m surprised at how well my plants have taken. I grossly underestimated the size of my cucumber and tomato plants. I planted them entirely too close together and now I’m considering moving the tomato’s out. Grass is very resilient and will recover. Don't fret about it.

“Hello, does anyone have any advice regarding hydrangeas? I believe they are mopheads, I’m trying to turn them blue which I know requires changing the ph of the soil, however I was also recommended giving it a high potash tomato feed to promote more blooms rather than flowers, so in that case, how often should I be fertilising it and can I do so in conjunction with a product that colours it blue as I see most of them also act as a fertiliser and obviously over fertilising would be an issue. They do cross with other members of cirtullus, which are curcubits.

“I live in the northern coastal Pacific Northwest so ripening larger varieties here sans-greenhouse is always a bit of a gamble, we just don’t get the heat. I use a carport with clear tarp to speed up the harvest a bit. I mostly grow cherries and medium slicer-types, but have a couple of larger beefsteak-types, they’re just nowhere near ripe yet. “Tilling is giving you more weed problems than you might have dealt with otherwise. I wouldn't spray weed killer. It may not kill the seeds in the soil, and it might make it uninhabitable for any you do want to plant. Look into tarping and no-till methods for next year.”

Last year, I "inherited" a vegetable patch the size of roughly 4x4 meters after my grandparents and decided to weed the soil, till it and plant some vegetables there, mostly carrots, parsnip, tomatoes and beetroot.
