“I'm considering moving into this apartment, and it would be my first apartment living on my own. Before I commit, I'm trying to work out whether the space can actually be made to function well rather than just looking acceptable on a floor plan. It's about 473 sq ft / 43.9 m²…”

“Hey all. So I’m moving from a 3 b/2.5b townhome to a 1 bed w/a den apartment. I got rid of my couches here and will be taking my oversized chair with me for the time being. But I saw ads for Kola couches that are essentially sleeper sofas without the mechanical parts of a sleeper sofa. Has anyone bought a kola couch? Any advice or tips ? submitted by /u/brandielynng29 [link] [comments]”
“Do you think it's possible to fit a single bed and a computer desk somewhere if I move the sofa closer to TV wall? I'm considering renting this apartment, but I don't want to sleep on a couch. Unfortunately I don't have the size of this room, but the whole apartment is 40m^2. https://preview.redd.it/sv2rp29xwgnh1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=46622f99d2122398a850f6d9324aa6332b896452 https://preview.redd.it/kcpg4mvxwgnh1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=w”
“I just moved into a new apartment. I decided to put my dining table in the same room as my couch/tv/living room. Now there is a “big” space in the kitchen that feels empty. I just want the spaces to work and right now it feels off. Any ideas? Thanks! submitted by /u/Hefty_Forever_6456 [link] [comments]”
“Hi! I am in a 745 sq ft apt and I am looking to upgrade my couch. I am looking for a small sectional, not too pricey since it will not be my forever couch, but will pay more for it to be comfortable. Looking for ~$800 or less and that would be the max. Does anyone have any recs? Thank you!! submitted by /u/Ok-Duck8184 [link] [comments]”
“I’m moving into my first apartment next month and struggling with the living room layout. I prefer having the couch directly face the TV, but because of the awkward corner, I’d have to float it in the middle of the room, leaving an awkward empty wall/space behind it. My other option is a sectional against the wall, but then it wouldn’t face the TV directly. What would you do with this layout? Any ideas for the space behind the couch if I float it? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/P”
“I just moved into an apartment with a narrow stairwell. I’m having trouble finding a couch that will fit up the stairwell but is also big enough to fit in my living room without looking silly (it’s a very long room so a super small couch would look odd). Requirements: Needs to fit through a 80 inch tall, 30 inch wide doorway. I want something long (80-100 inches) that isn’t ridiculously shallow (so around 22 inch deep seat). If the company will not take the couch out of the box, then the box nee”

“What can I put here? It's maybe a little less than 4 ft across 2 ft deep. It is too small for our TVs. Do I put a shelf and a nice curtain? I'm open to any ideas. Maybe a nice shelf so no curtain. I'm clueless. It's very awkward. submitted by /u/ross571 [link] [comments]”
“Any ideas on how I can make our small living room in our apartment look bigger? We have a small one bedroom apartment in Torrance, CA and I am easily claustrophobic. I was raised in a three bedroom house and had a room of my own my whole life so adjusting to apartment living and paying rent based off location and not size of the space is causing me to have claustrophobia in the same area I was raised. I think if it at least looks bigger I will feel better. submitted by /u/Marydees_Re”
“I just moved into this apartment building which is a brand new build and have already had a lot of issues (bedroom window is stuck fully open and I get woken up to construction every day, blinds fell off the wall onto my wrist when I gently pulled them down, only boiling hot water coming from the kitchen sink, etc). I noticed some light coming in under the front door and I can hear footsteps walking past my door when I’m in the living area. It hasn’t been too bothersome but my main concern is pe”
“I am moving into a new place and I have high hopes of getting this apartment. I’m struggling a bit with figuring out how I want the living room to look and what furniture I will need to get. I currently have a large corner couch, coffee cart, and narrow broom storage, and a shoe rack shelf. I would like to have a tv in the living room and a little library/ reading nook. If anyone has any cute ideas or likes to draw and wants to help please feel free! I included my own drawing attempts (lol) and”
“I am looking into a bed frame and a sofa for my new apartment. It's a very small 1 bedroom 669 square feet total. It's just me so I feel that this is decent. I am trying to find gas lift/lift up/hydraulic bed frame for by bedroom. I need to find places where I can get these. Bonus points if I can see it in person. The couch is difficult because I am wanting both storage and a sleeper sofa. I was told in Rooms to Go that sofas are not built for sleeping so it's easy for them to break”
“The living room is SO tiny. I need space for a queen size bed and a gaming setup. Right now I just have a 4ft folding table. I'd love to have a couch but I just don't see where it could be possible and not awkward. This is also my first apartment alone so any advice from decorating to general living is welcome! “I’m looking to move into my first ever apartment (just got approved this morning!) and I have limited money. I wanted a couch that was originally $700 from Ashley to use until it can’t be sat on anymore, but my parents told me to check out the newer cheaper option, a “boneless couch”. I looked up some reviews and it seems okay, cheap, but has some mixed reviews regarding if it’s worth it. Does anyone have any experience with these? It’s my FIRST ever apartment and I’m 20 currently. I don’t need”
“Not sure if this is the right flair, sorry! I am moving to a new apartment in a few days with my best friend but didn't think much about the furniture placement in my room. I am mapping out my furniture placement at the moment. It doesn't have a window (yes), and I'm thinking of putting my desk to the door since that's a source of light that will look better on meetings. Then I'm planning on putting the rest of furniture where I can but am now thinking if there's a better”
“i just moved into an old apartment and getting firniture upstairs is a PAIN. narrow stairsk weird turns, all of it. i dont wanna fight a full couch every time i move i want smth comfu for movie nights, but it still has to fit through the building. a normal couch feels like too much. a lot of small loveseats either look stiff or still come om lomg rigid boxes that are hard to tirn on narrow stairs!ive looked at bean bag options too. lovesav looks comfy but is expensive and buying ome without tryi”
“Hello just thought I’d inquire about this door gap. I moved into my apartment about a week ago, noticed this gap at my main door (outside is the hallway). Is this gap too large and should I tell maintenance or is this normal. I live in south Florida on the third floor if that makes any difference. submitted by /u/drippypicklez [link] [comments]”
“We have a 2 bedroom apartment (both small bedrooms) shared between two WFH adults, a rambunctious almost-toddler and an elderly dog. Ever since our baby started crawling, it has felt very cramped. Baby and dog want to be next to me and on the move constantly but also need to be separated. Sharing our current layout and some ideas we had for changes below. We are open to getting rid of things and/or replacing items with more functional alternatives for our needs. We live in a very cold climate, s”
“I'm planning on getting the west elm harmony sofa (92x41x35) from facebook marketplace into my apartment but i'm worried that the couch won't fit through this gap i have between the wall at the end of my hallway and the fridge. the gap is 32 inches which is shorter than the couch height but maybe the movers could pivet it to make it work? i was also thinking of taking the fridge out to make more space to pivet the couch into. There would still be that wall next to the fridge though.”
“Previously, my partner and I lived in a high rise apartment building on the 13th floor and our windows didn’t have the ability to open, so we’ve had almost no bugs at all. We are in our early 20’s so this was my first time moving out. Now, we decided we wanted a bigger place so we found a townhome community (owned by a property management, not a landlord) that has an attached garage. We love the actual unit, but all our problems seemed to have stemmed from our neighbor. We are the corner unit, s”
“I am living in a rental apartment where they have pre-installed blinds which are quite translucent and so it's really bright during the day and even during night, it doesn't feel dark enough. I am looking for complete (or close to) darkness. They said that "You are free to find and install some darkened blinds/curtains to lower the natural light brightness. " I have attached images of it. I am wondering what options do I have to make it darker that are simple to install and rem”
