“Been growing peppers in my backyard, and recently I've noticed little clusters of aphids on some of the new growth. The plants are still producing, so I don't want to do anything that might damage them or ruin the remaining harvest. I'm also wondering whether…”

“I finally got a flea medication that worked for my dog and now they all live in my garden. Has anyone actually used aromatic plants like peppermint and successfully gotten rid of them? I have lizards, bees, wasps, and other insects that I do not want to harm. Is it possible to introduce a predator? If so what are my options? “That is leaf rust, you can't control rust when the symptoms emerge, only thing you can do is to remove all the infected leaves and thow them into trash. Leaf rust is mainly caused by Puccinia fungi, since their spores are part of the ecosystem, you can't get rid of them. However, there are ways to make the environment less habitable for the fungi, one thing is to prune off no more than 1/3 of the foliage, preferably the bottom leaves, this is to improve air circulation. Now, some people”
“Hello! my tomatoes are starting to put out flowers but just when they do, I find aphids along their leaves. Any tips on how to deal with them? Currently using neem oil and dish soap, and I’ve been at it for 2-3 weeks with not much changes. I hear ladybugs work but I have yet to see any sellers/breeders huhu other context that might help: I’m living in South East Asia so the climate is really humid… submitted by /u/gavvin_gavein [link] [comments]”
“Those look like aphids to me. I'd skip the neem, it breaks down fast in sun so afternoon spraying is working against you. Give it a hard hose blast, then insecticidal soap in the early morning, undersides too. Repeat every few days.”
“You could try switching to a miticide like sulfur dust or horticultural oil (stronger option). Spray early morning or evening, not in the afternoon. Also, prune off the most damaged leaves to reduce the pest population and try to improve airflow, which also helps with the fungal spots.”
“I’ve been struggling with brown spots in my zoysia. I believe I have found the problem being Tuttle mealybugs and white grubs or sod web worms. What’s my best approach for treating both? I’m closing to giving up on my zoysia between this and fighting weeds. submitted by /u/Impossible-Cat-2061 [link] [comments]”
“This is an outdoors plant in North Carolina. It's been humid and hot but little rain. The pest damage doesn't match most pictures I've seen. Spraying with neem oil was no help, and the webbing and specks suggest a pest, but could it be botrytis? How should I treat it? submitted by /u/bricoleur00 [link] [comments]”
“I’m assuming a pest is responsible (we don’t use any forms of pesticides or fertilizers) but the posted pics are the only evidence I see, no actual bugs spotted One of the flowers is completely gone, another is clearly close to falling off, and there’s other damage throughout. Does anyone have an idea what’s causing this? In zone 6a if that helps Close up pics of damage, one pic just to show the group. Anyone have an idea what might be the cause? submitted by /u/Fun-Location-5173 [li”
“RULE #1: Inspect your damned plants! Get up in there every other day or so and really look at the stems and undersides of the leaves. Sneak up on your plant and suddenly shake it, if a white cloud of evil appears, you have the dreaded White Fly. RULE#2: Prune the plant. Cut off ANYTHING looking brown or wilted, up to 1/3 of the plant can safely be pruned. RULE#3: Use this recipe: In one quart of water add 1/4 cup Tea Tree Oil, 1/4 cup Castile Soap (I use Mint), 2 Tablespoons regular ass Hydrogen”
“I’ve gotten it before ofcourse, but not this bad, usually early October they look like they loon now and usually with them having been planted in June. I think next year I’ll try something like the spray you mentioned just to help minimize it for longer. Bummer.”
“Can anyone tell me whats happening to my mint im getting fungal or mites from Gemini and Claude. But its indoors if anything i underwater it as it sometimes becomes droopy and never wet the leaves when watering submitted by /u/FortuneGold1136 [link] [comments]”
“My peppers leaves have been looking like this for a few weeks. I researched and saw it could be due to fungal or pests. I sprayed them down last week with some neem oil. Should I do another round of neem oil? What could possibly be making my leaves look like this? submitted by /u/Secure_Peach5753 [link] [comments]”
“My poor beautyberry is going through it this season. It seems like multiple things are happening: possible ants farming aphid eggs, as well as a black sooty something on the leaves? Can anyone recommend a treatment approach or do I just let it fend for itself and hope it doesn’t die? The bush is established, about 4 years old, and my yard got hit with aster yellows this season. Georgia zone 8A. BTW: the rusty looking stuff is cinnamon… I remember it working for when I had a potted plant with an”
“Fungus Gnats you can use BT for. I do not kill ants they do more good than harm. For aphids I just hit them with the jet setting on the hose and then spray the plant with a solution of dr bronners soap, water and a few drops of peppermint oil. Get the bottom Of leaves and stems real well”
“Hi, I have only recently started getting into gardening but I only have a balcony (that only gets sun from about 3pm onwards everyday). I have a cosmos flower that has been doing so well but is now covered with a powdery mildew (photos attached). Last week when it got cooler in England and was spitting a little bit on and off, I was so busy and didn’t water the flowers for a couple of days. I then remembered and watered them at 2am on Friday night/Saturday morning. When I went out the next day,”
“Sorry for the amateur photography hour. Orange mint and blue wonder catmint. No idea what this thing is, kind of just grateful it's not red spider mites again. Whatever it is, it's discoloring the leaves of both plants. :( submitted by /u/Rendoas [link] [comments]”
“Trying to figure out what these spots are on my Zinnia leaves. I'm in Central Florida, zone 10A. I need to know if it's all right to harvest the seeds from these zinnias or if I just need to pull the whole plant. Dog tax at the end. submitted by /u/camebacklate [link] [comments]”

“i keep finding small holes in the leaves of a few plants and i'm pretty sure something is eating them. i don't want to spray random stuff without knowing what i'm dealing with. what do you usually do when pests start showing up? submitted by /u/BorensteinGlock_35 [link] [comments]”
“I have a few zinnias that look like this. It’s my first batch, so I wanna make sure I’m not doing something wrong. I’m in zone 7, it’s been high nineties this week. submitted by /u/NotArmadilloShellz [link] [comments]”
“Hi I noticed that the lower leaves of my zinnias are brown and crispy and was wondering how to fix this problem. At one point I did have a big problem with catapillers but bought a spray a few weeks ago to deal with them. The leaves used to look alot worse but now not as much. I water them at the base for the most part but honestly I do get water on leaves from time to time. submitted by /u/IntoxicatingBliss [link] [comments]”
“please help! I went out of town for a week and came back to my rose plant having all of these little brown things that look almost like little poops on her leaves. In addition, a lot of her leaves have holes in them. does anyone know what this is and how I can treat it? TIA! submitted by /u/teabags98 [link] [comments]”
“My swamp milkweed was struggling to bloom due to how many aphids where on the flower stalks. I purchased ladybugs from a reputable nursery. It's been 4 days, I just see three ladybugs. But the first 24 hours there was a visible difference in the number of ahids. Day three a couple of plants where almost complete cleaned off of aphids. They didn't get all the plants cleaned off before moving out, but I am cautious optimistic. I think I saw mating and hopefully there will be babies to help”
“Roses benefit greatly from annual pruning in early spring / late winter. As a renter, would a landlord expect you to do that? I'll link to a how-to video. Many milkweeds don't want too much water. Swamp milkweed, which does not have a taproot, has no problem with it. I'm assuming your milkweed is in a container that has drainage holes. If not, roots rot easily. Your milkweed may simply be focusing on root development which is common for perennials and upward growth will happen next y”

“I use an organic copper spray a few times in a season, more if it is rainy. helps quite a bit.”
“I got her from the local nursery. She was doing well at the beginning.. but since last couple of days she is all withered and i found on google its aphids or insects that is causing her distress. I used neem oil couple of times. Please help me find a product or instructions to get her all healthy again. submitted by /u/TillPresent3608 [link] [comments]”
“Oh, in that case, it could be powdery mildew. You’d still need to cut off all the affected leaves, but also spray neem oil.”
“??????? Looks disgusting. Thought it was because of the AQI being over 300 for a week, but none of my other plants seem to be doing this. Once again, looks disgusting. Assuming unsafe to eat (even the normal parts). submitted by /u/Happy-Performer4058 [link] [comments]”
“This swamp milkweed is on a 4th story sunny patio in MA with no hose hook up, so I can't just spray and pray. I've been spraying with diluted soapy water for 3 weeks and removing the little guys with my hands when I see thick patches. But it doesn't seem to be helping. I know a plant can survuve a few aphids, and that native predators need them as a food source, but this just seems like more than the plant can bare. Edit: I'm going to try some neem oil and see of that helps. ”
“I have one rose that the aphids seem to love. They pretty much ignore my other roses so I guess this one tastes the nicest. I left them alone with the hopes that nature would do its thing, and now I have ladybugs and their babies using the rose like an all you can eat buffet! submitted by /u/Olyfishmouth [link] [comments]”
“My Zinnia garden is full of japanese beetles. What is the best way to get rid of them before all my flowers are eaten! I was going to use neem oil but I read that isn’t good to used on Zinnia flowers, my next option was using Ortho Beetle B Gon Max. Has any dealt with this and can offer help! Do I have to water the leaves after spraying them with soap water?
“Tiny white spots appeared on the leaves and bark on my young tree in winter. It lost its leaves but has regrown some this summer. The white/ brown spots are still there, reappearing when wiped off, plant looks unhappy. I haven’t overwatered and it’s outside during summer. There is also sap leaking from one branch but not from a cut site. I’m looking for advice in identifying the problem and possible treatments. I’m attaching some pics, all insights very welcome submitted by /u/contex”

“Hi all. Was hoping for some help. My once thriving geranium is being massacred by caterpillars. I’ve plucked four off it the last two weeks, with the most recent on Saturday. I’ve sprayed with Captain Jacks Neem oil every two or so days the last two weeks as well. Nothing seems to deter them! Ive even tried moving the pot elsewhere to no avail. I’d hate to let them have it as it gives off the most gorgeous hot pink flowers. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/1legallyblonde [link]”
“You could try the 30% vinegar at the home depot. Add a few drops of dish soap. I see Walmart has 45%”
“If it kills poison ivy or any other plant for that matter, it is by definition a herbicide. Even vinegar is a herbicide (acetic acid) and can spread to nearby areas. Vinegar is also harmful to insects and humans it comes in contract with in quantities just like any other herbicide. I am not against herbicides... just pointing that out.”
“I have had tons of these webs in our hedges and rosemary for the last few summers, and looking for a solid, natural solution. I’ve tried peppermint oil, neem oil, but both are timely to apply and need to be reapplied very frequently. Maybe the spray bottles are just not the best applicators and I should use a larger pump sprayer? Hope someone can help- and details on how and when to apply whatever is best! submitted by /u/Soggy-Resist-1573 [link] [comments]”
“I had a candelabra primula which was beautiful until the ants decided to arrive to my new planter. The stems began to be covered in black pests with the ants protecting them. I used water and neem oil to try and kill them/knock them off but they kept coming back. I had to remove the plant as it started to not do too well and on looking the lower leaves were covered in small black and other small grey pests with the ants appearing to crawl into the lower leaves/root system. This plant has now bee”
“To kill the stink bug nymphs mix water, rubbing alcohol and a couple of drops of regular dawn dish soap in a spray bottle and spray your plant. It kills them immediately.”

“Live in growing zone 6a. I keep finding these flat brown dots all over my speedwell/Veronica, sage, and bee balm. Is it a fungus? Is it bugs? Are the plants diseased? I get mid to full sun. submitted by /u/Bakrbabbies666 [link] [comments]”
“It looks like powdery mildew to me. I’ve had luck with copper based fungicides, but they take at least a solid season of spraying, if not a couple, to work.”
“Two days ago it was literally green and gorgeous and now its leaves are browning, it has webs, also I did notice green little bugs maybe aphids? Also, on the third picture there are little black ??eggs?? On the webs. Curious what you guys think. submitted by /u/Main_Height_7914 [link] [comments]”
“Planted zinnia seeds roughly 2.5 months ago, and have filled in areas as they began to grow in. it seems I may have been dealing with some sort of pest so I started neem oil weekly which has helped, as the newer leaves on top are in much better shape than the older bottom leaves. My question is if I should prune them or not, being the damaged leaves are on the bottom? I have been reading to encourage bushier and higher amounts of flowering, pruning is strongly encouraged, and to keep about 3-4 l”
“I have an aptidão and antes infestation in my lime tree and my Peppers. I know i have to get rid of the ants or the aphids will get back...i normally treat aphids with neem oil, but theese are on the flowers and i dont want to kill any polinators. I tried diatomacious earth surrounding the plants to try and mitigate the ants, it didn't work. I need tips to deal with the ants and the aphids.... submitted by /u/jpnovato [link] [comments]”
“But mistakes are just lessons for the next time. Still pretty happy overall, especially with the infrastructure/layout. I think the load of compost we got to fill the beds with was a little too potent for some of the plants, unfortunately. Tomatoes and Raspberries loved it. Cukes and peppers, not so much. Squash/Zucchini grew big, lovely plants, but no where near as much fruit as I would have thought. Such is life - we'll work on amending the soil next season and changing a few things around”
