“I had a quick question about dual enrollment credit. If I take a dual enrollment course through a four-year university while in high school and it transfers to Rutgers, would the grade count toward my Rutgers GPA, or would only the credits transfer?”
Multiple applicants are confused about how to answer the Common Application question regarding prior college coursework, specifically concerning dual enrollment and community colleges.

“First year domestic application. Took a couple of college courses in high school. Not dual enrollment and not shown on HS transcript. Can I order the transcript via parchment for the colleges I’m applying to before I submit my application on common app? Or I should wait until I submit the common app. The reason I want to do it early is to ensure the transcript arrive on time. I took a course at WTAMU and it’s taken a few days for “processing” for the 1 school I applied so far. Hope to get a head”
“I’m taking a chem class at my local community college this semester, so I haven’t finished it yet. I reported that I’m taking it on commonapp but do I have to send in a transcript now? They don’t have a grade yet since the course isn’t finished. Can I submit it later? And do I just get the transcript from the college and email it later or? “Bear with me, I’m a little stressed and emotional right now. I just realized, after submitting my CommonApp to 5 different schools, that I had entered my expected end date for my DE college wrong. I said May 2026 instead of 2027. As soon as I realized, I drafted brief emails to all 5 schools’ Office of Admissions, explaining the error and asking that it be corrected. They are all scheduled to be sent Monday morning. Is emailing the right move? Will that make me look bad? Will making the mistake”
“I finished my Common App profile a while ago, but I’ve been getting ready to submit my first application and started rethinking this a little. Next semester I’m taking a dual enrollment Introduction to Ethics course. I put it under Other/Elective on the Common App, but now I’m wondering if that’s actually the right category. My community college’s course guide puts it under Humanities/Fine Arts, while Google seems to group ethics/philosophy more with history/social science. Would Other/Elective”
“Due to scheduling conflicts I was not able to enroll in a dual enrollment class so now I am taking it as just a regular college course at community college. I will be able to send the transcript from this course to schools. I am going to explain this in additional information, but is it viewed slightly worse than taking it dual enrollment? submitted by /u/Pristine_Painting345 [link] [comments]”
“I’m a Grade 12 student in Canada applying to U.S. colleges. My high school transcript already lists the courses I will take at my regular school in Semester 2, with an expected completion date. However, I’m also planning to take a Grade 12 course through a separate school in Sem 2 (will be recorded in high school transcript once completed). The difference is that the external course may not appear on my regular high school transcript until I actually complete it, while my regular school’s Semest”
“As the title says Im a little lost on how to effectively phrase my difficulties on common app. I wanted to specify the reason for my grades dipping in 10th and 11th grade and I'm wondering how I should approach that portion of the common app? For slight context, I had the triple 3 all back-to-back in 10th grade so I missed a LARGE chunk of school. I also faced a decent bit of breathing issues as a result. As for 11th grade, I had food related issues and surprise! i was sick every week and on”
“Parent here. We are trying to figure out how to report college courses my senior took in the common app? He took 4 classes , all As during high school. Not dual enrollment so those courses not going to show up in his high school transcript. We don’t see any place in common app to provide the class details. Just the name of the university and if he gets credit . We are hoping college will recalculate his gpa using the 4 college level courses. Any pointers? One possibility is to use the Additional”
“I know for self-reported coursework on the Common App we should try to match exactly what is on our transcript from our school. Does this include adding the school’s catalogue number for the course in addition to the course name? I can’t find anything that specifically talks about whether that is necessary. submitted by /u/MathematicianAny8588 [link] [comments]”
“Only taking 2 DE classes this fall. Spring I’m taking about 4. Should I include spring classes in current year courses? submitted by /u/AcanthaceaeDense4185 [link] [comments]”
“If there are more than 3 college courses or more than 3 separate colleges I got credit from, how should I report it on the Colleges & Universities section of Common App? Should I just put the three most relevant ones or completely leave it blank and just submit the college credit transcripts when I submit my grades? submitted by /u/Pristine_Painting345 [link] [comments]”
“I am applying to colleges through the Common App. It gives me the opportunity to give additional information on something that might have impacted my achievement. My junior year, I bombed my college classes. I transitioned from high-school into a trade school, and I actually killed my classes. Straight A's up until right after mid-terms. None of my friends came with me to the trade school, and with me taking college classes at the local community college, I started feeling deprived from soci”
“As the title says. I’ve taken all of my dual enrollments during non-school hours (while my school offers Jumpstart, allowing kids to allocate two in-school periods per class) to allow myself to take more APs and engineering classes. I’m about to take this second year class at the college I’m DE’ed in and it seems to be very difficult and extremely lab based. It’s called Vacuum Systems (for cleanrooms in semiconductor wafer fabrication labs or smth). I would very much like to put that on my activ”
“When completing the SAT question on the common app, if you are reporting your highest of RW and highest from Math that come from two different test dates are you selecting "2" for the number of scores you wish to report? Or "1" because you are only giving the best of each side? submitted by /u/Upset_Eye1625 [link] [comments]”
“I started dual enrollment last year when I was in 11th grade. Both semesters I took 5 classes in person because the college was only 20 minutes away so it was convenient and honestly my autism made regular high school hell for me that’s why I decided to even do full time dual enrollment. I passed all my classes with As and Bs. This year as a senior I’m doing the same thing and they are helping me take the right classes so that by may if I pass I should have the right credits to get my highschool”

“I did two courses of dual enrollment with my local state school (one in Sophomore year) and another going in my senior year which is starting soon. Since it asks for college 1 date (start -> end) so should I put from the start of sophomore year to the end of senior year. submitted by /u/serotoninseesaw [link] [comments]”
