“Got these little white things clinging onto the side of my tank. Pretty sure they aren’t a critter bc haven’t seen movement. They are whiteish and kinda see through with an orange nubbin in the middle. (Sorry for the bad description) They are all pretty consolidated to this one…”

“I just found three of those things in my shrimp tank. They are about 2-2.5 cm long. Can anyone please tell me wtf it is? Out of fear, I cleaned the whole tank, including boiling my decor and removed all the plants for now. Are they dangerous to my shrimps? How do I get rid of…”

“They appeared in my 2 planted tanks. They are incredibly tiny and translucent. At first I thought it could be lice but it appears to have a shell and mostly just stays in the glass. Is this a pest? Should I be worried?”

Multiple aquarium keepers are seeking identification and solutions for rapidly multiplying white, dandelion-like circles appearing on their tank glass. Shrimp avoid the spots, but copepods interact with them without harm.

“I am just now exploring the exciting world of shrimp and found a new baby cherry shrimp! While checking him/her out, I noticed this weird white bug thing. Any idea on what it could be? Pretty sure I have many more in there, too, but could really only get a good picture of this one. Size next to baby shrimp if it can help at all. Any help is appreciated! submitted by /u/Minimum_Detail5804 [link] [comments]”

“I see them all of a sudden and then they’re gone by the next day. They accumulate mostly on my red tiger lotus but I have seen them along the glass of my tank/substrate. For reference, I have chili rasboras, mystery snails, ramshorn snails, and neocaridina shrimp. submitted by /u/Money-Information-99 [link] [comments]”

“I’ve just come back from a week away and noticed this white substance has grown on my plant in the tank. Does anyone know what this substance is? And will shrimp clear it? (I planned on getting some tomorrow) P.S. This is a newly cycled tank. submitted by /u/SpagBol25 [link] [comments]”

“I’m a beginner at this, but a while ago I originally noticed white things just floating in my tank water, and I tried to look it up, but I wasn’t really coming up with much. But now, I see these worms of all different sizes none longer than a couple cm, crawling on my glass smoothly. I’m having trouble because I know it’s not detritus worms, they’re just not that shape and don’t move like those do. The reason I’m unsure if it’s planaria is because I’m not seeing the arrow-shaped head. It’s round”

“We recently added some shrimp to our planter tank and have had a bunch of tiny critters appear along with them. Think they are copepods but would appreciate some help identifying them as we’re just not sure 🤔 submitted by /u/eepy_vulpine [link] [comments]”

“Just looked in my 5 gallon tank and noticed these little egg looking spheres on the roots of my water lettuce. Are they eggs? The only occupants of the tank is 1 female betta and 2 mystery snails. What would they be?? Thanks for any advice :) submitted by /u/CryEven3832 [link] [comments]”

“As the title states, I set up a new planted tank and currently cycling it but I have a ton of white worms on the glass. Was wondering about if they are bad for the tank and what to do with them. Also some advice about dealing with the algae (green and white) growing in the tank. Will it eventually deal with itself submitted by /u/AliBagovBeatKhabib [link] [comments]”

“Does anyone know what these are? Looks like eggs of some type. Stuck to the glass. Currently in this tank are neocaridina shrimp, spotted congo puffers, and salt&pepper cordydoras. They look much larger than the eggs my puffers produce during spawning. submitted by /u/Wooden_Bee_8069 [link] [comments]”

“I just turned the lights on on my planted 60 and saw this on the glass. It’s currently cycling and growing in and it’s going to end up stocked with community and cherry shrimp. It looks and moves like a tiny white caterpillar and I don’t think it’s planaria, but I’ve not come across this before. I’m about to pull it out with the algae scraper wand thingy. submitted by /u/YourStonerAunt [link] [comments]”

“It’s a freshwater tank and honestly it’s hard to tell these things without a macro lens, I was so sure my blue dream was berried. Well the rest of the tank don’t have these swimming white dots, just this part of a moss clump I just recently added. But they seem too big to be microfauna, but they’re not as big as a limpet either. What are they? Is it possible one of my neocaridina finally let her babies out? Or is this just one other invasive microfauna? submitted by /u/Creative-Swan-”

“Hi! I had this aquarium for a year now. I have a colony of neocaridina shrimps and a school of dwarf corydoras. A month or two ago I noticed this fluffy growth on one of the rocks. Since then the first one grew, rather slowly and a second one appeared on the same rock. I have not introduced any new moss type or did not change anything like the fertilizer or light schedule for a long time. Does anyone had a similar experience or knows what it can be? Should I be worried and get rid of it (it look”

“Howdy y’all. I’ve ID’d these as harmless Rhabdocoela for a while, but I’ve been seeing fewer and fewer shrimp. Makes me wonder if I misidentified this species. I don’t think I did, but doubt is a powerful thing. These are sadly the best photos I could get of these guys. submitted by /u/ConiferGreen [link] [comments]”

“I was looking at my tank this morning and noticed these little guys on the glass of my aquarium. They don’t seem to be moving much, I tried to get a good picture but they’re so small it was pretty hard to. Does anyone know what they are? As long as they aren’t harmful I don’t mind them, I’m just curious. Right now the tank houses 2 mystery snails and 1 male betta, but I’m planning on getting about 6 cherry or blue dream shrimps in the next few days. Anything helps. Thanks! submitted by &#3”

“They look like tiny worms. This is my first tank, I set it up at the beginning of August. After three weeks I added 8 Harlequin rasbora that I got from PetSmart. Five have died so I started treating the tank with imagitarium parasite remedy after I did a water change. All the parameters look fine. This is the second day of treating the tank and the first time I've noticed these things. submitted by /u/Special_Mood_639 [link] [comments]”

“Can anyone tell me what’s going on here? I’m not sure what these white things are on the front of the glass. There’s two things going on, first is the tiny white shrimp like looking things and the other is the teeny tiny white things next to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kinda weirded out here…lol This is a 5 gallon shrimp tank, lightly planted (new plants and transfers from my other tanks) submitted by /u/Cuziwannabe [link] [comments]”

“Hi everyone, I set up a tank 4 days ago (it's my first tank). When I checked on it today, I saw these little white things on the glass, plants, and even in the substrate (they don't cover everything, but there are a lot of them). What are they?? “Hello everyone, This morning i’ve discovered some tiny white spot on my tank’s glass. upon closer inspection those dots seem to be moving and have different shapes they concentrate on the algae and are smaller than a millimeter. This tank has been running for a year and a hall with neocardinas and i’ve just added cherry barbs this week and a few plants in the same time. What could those be and will they be harmful to my shrimps ? I’ve put a vid in the comment with a shrimp for scale submit”

“I bought this driftwood from my LFS awhile ago. I boiled it 3 times, let it sit for about a month in my room, and just added it to my cycling tank about two days ago. Since then I’ve noticed this white fuzzy stuff and these white flakes on it. I have no idea what they are. Will they be harmful to shrimp? Tank has been cycling for 2 days now, but the filter media is from an established tank. Put plants and driftwood in at the same time. submitted by /u/Any-Living-7598 [link] [co”

“Just set up this tank a few days ago, still cycling of course so no creatures added yet but will be doing neo shrimp and maybe some small schooling fish. Tank is planted with aquasoil base, sand and gravel on top. Has some dragon stone, drift wood, and smooth stones. I spotted this little guy, brown flatworm looking thing. Can anyone identify?
