“Hello i’ve noticed that something started growing on the back of my tank. Could someone please identify what is it and is it dangerous for fish and shrimps? (Sorry for the quality my phone cant take a nicer picture) (the gray spots on the background are bubbles from not applying…”

“Does anyone know what kind of fish this is? I have several tanks but purchased a schooling group of Buena Aires Tetra fish for my 40 gallon. Instead they gave me 7 of those with 1 of these in the image. I think it's a white skirt tetra but very unsure. I feel sorry for it. It…”

“Hello, can anyone help with why my garra flavatra has this dark spot benieth his right eye? Whatever it is i cant help but being slightly worried as he seems to be trying very hard to rub it off. I can get a video of that as well if needed. Thanks in advance”

Aquarium owners are confused by unusual color changes or bumps on their fish, seeking identification and treatment advice. This suggests a lack of knowledge about fish health and potential disease recognition among hobbyists.

“Recently noticed this like opaque thing/spot on my kohaku swordtail. Is it normal and I’ve never noticed or is it a parasite? submitted by /u/Interesting_Fan1347 [link] [comments]”

“The scale looks different than any other fish. It's bigger and looks softer? It also looks more glossy than the other. I have no idea about fish, but I did a quick search and google said it's dropsy. What could it possibly be? I think that fish should be put in separate tanks. (Disclaimer, this is not my aquarium and not my fish, I'll talk to the caretaker (?) of this fish) submitted by /u/wolfwoodistriku [link] [comments]”

“I am aware this fish has head/lateral line erosion. I am doing my best to add more veg/spirulina to his diet to help him. I got him when I was less informed about synodontis and their diets (believing them to be carnivorous). Anyway, I love this little guy. I was thinking of getting more of them and was trying to research on if they do better in groups but I don't know if it varies synodontis to synodontis and/or what type of synodontis he is to even potentially get some friends for him. &#3”

“I bought 10 harlequins two weeks ago and this one has a weird growth. I’m keeping it seperate from the rest of the fish. It is swimming well and eating well, and does not seem to be bothered by the lump at all. Can I add it to the main tank? submitted by /u/Ancient_Can9325 [link] [comments]”

“Noticed bumps on two of my fish yesterday. Couldn't find out what it is but am nervous it might kill my tank if I don't act quick. I hope some of you might know what it is. (recently introduced ottocinclus to the tank maybe they brought some thin into the tank?) submitted by /u/Sutaci [link] [comments]”

“Was doing a water change and noticed these light spots on one of the tetras. It’s swimming normally, eating and schooling (as much as they normally do, my pack is stupid and gets separated often) I do 20% water changes weekly, feed flakes, pellets and bloodworms on a 2 day on one day off schedule, use a hob filter and keep the tank at 83 degrees. Tank has rummynose, chilis and snails in it, everyone else is in good health. submitted by /u/Antique_Rent181 [link] [comments]”

“Hello, so approximately 3 weeks ago i took my betta fish to my new aquarium my cycle was almost complete and i had some plants (anubias) so i thought i need to see some life. I monitored parameters carefully and did a liquid tests everyday and changed water immediatelly if something was wrong, but wanted to ask if maybe somebody would recognize this spot i took this betta with that spot and it had it in the shop for approximately 2 months even when they were quarantined. he is active curious and”

“Hey guys, I got these little harlequin rasbora only a month ago and one of them is…odd looking. Is he just the runt? Deformed? Sick? I have them in a fully planted 30 gallon with cories and platys, so i don’t think he’s being picked on. Is he just ugly? 3rd photo is a comparison to his brother. submitted by /u/Goofball_X3 [link] [comments]”

Instead they gave me 7 of those with 1 of these in the image. I think it's a white skirt tetra but very unsure. I feel sorry for it. It swims some with the school of Buena Aires but hangs by itself a lot too. I have enough room to buy several of these as well but probably can't get to the local fish store until next week. submitted by /u”

“All 12 of my surviving rummynose received from shrimpy business have a black spot which is common identification for a female. They came to me young and mind you heavily emaciated. So much so I’m never ever ordering from Shrimpy again. Ordered 16, 2 were DoA and 4 died while nursing them back to health. After two weeks we finally have improvement with the remaining 12 but they all have the black spot. Did Shrimpy Business send me all females?! Or are they just too young to tell. submitted”

“This bristlenose is like a year and a bit old and this hole in its head has been there since it was like half its full size. It seems to be doing fine but I’m so confused as to what could have caused it. First picture is the most recent, all other pictures were about May or June this year. The nose also looks more bulbous than it was earlier this year. Anyone have any idea what could cause it or advice on what to do/make him or her more comfortable? submitted by /u/teeta999 [link] &#”

“I just got a bunch of harlequins from my LFS and on closer inspection this one had a really weird bump. Could it be a tumor? I removed it from the group. What is it and (how) can I treat it? submitted by /u/Ancient_Can9325 [link] [comments]”

“I got these mosquitofish from a free program, so I’m quite certain they are mosquitofish. But I’ve had these fish for almost a year, and one of them seems to have changed colors to be starkly bicolored. It used to look like the other fish in its tank (pic included). I’ve tried looking up pictures of other mosquitofish or fish illnesses, but I can’t find any that looks like this. Is this normal? submitted by /u/curiousitypiqued [link] [comments]”
