Devs Frustrated by Shifting AI Coding Tools

Developers are experiencing frustration and uncertainty with the evolving landscape of AI-powered coding tools like Codex and GPT. Common issues include unexpected token usage, limitations in mobile workflows, merge conflict resolution challenges, and confusion around subscription models and usage limits. The constant changes and perceived instability are impacting productivity and trust.

Codex for OSS: activation link rejects accepted maintainers who already subscribe

While Codex is working and a follow up message is queued, pressing Enter with an empty composer should immediately steer the queued message into the active run—equivalent to clicking its steer control. The existing Enter key symbol already suggests this shortcut works. Supporting it would make the behavior intuitive and save a mouse click each time.

People are now using Claude Code and Codex, two of the leading coding agents, to do almost everything, including tasks that have more to do with language than coding, such as negotiation. For example, OpenAI recently highlighted a use case where Codex negotiated with customer service to get a refund on behalf of a user . But can you really trust an agent to represent your best interests? And if so, which agent should you trust? That actually raises an interesting question. We already have countl

Issues with how codex calls itself

community.openai.com1d ago

I'm thinking about buying more credits for codex, and the checkout site seems to imply that buying more credits will lead to a lower price per credit (eg. save 20% under the $200 bulk purchase), but the math doesn't seem to check out. All of these seem to imply a price of $0.04 per credit. Am I missing something? Alternatively, is OpenAI trying to trick me by pretending there is a bulk discount? The Codex is awesome, and I like the sorting option, but it would be nice if we could assigned sub categories for each codex category, so that if there's lot of entries in a category it's not just a dump of entries you need to look through. I imagine this could be done with sub folders. Manual sorting like characters and locations would be a great addition as well. Also I really like how character entries are displayed and sorted, and it would be awesome if we could customize non character entri

Hi, thanks for building and maintaining CCR! Would it be possible to add a browser based OAuth flow for Codex accounts? At the moment, CCR appears to import the account currently available in the local Codex auth.json . This works well for a single account, but adding multiple ChatGPT/Codex accounts is not very convenient. It would be great if CCR could provide an Add account button that: 1. Generates a ChatGPT/Codex OAuth authorization link. 2. Opens the link in the browser. 3. Saves the author

I have found that the only way to keep not only my agent work in codex straight in my builds but other agents systems, is to tell it to “attach truthspine”. With it attached it automatically checks with truthspine (which runs locally on your system and knows and keeps the entire truth for work, decisions, rules, research, files, memory etc) when doing work and it stays on task and on the right work you intend. This has completely fixed all of these problems for me personally. Google “attach trut

AI tools like Claude and Codex have made it much faster to write and modify code. But I'm curious about what teams are seeing on the back-end side of that. More code potentially means more commits and ultimately more deployments. For teams where AI-assisted development is already heavily used: How has this changed your CI/CD workload? Are you: running significantly more pipelines? increasing runner capacity or parallelism? changing how tests are triggered? batching changes differently? deplo

Hi all, my company encourages us to use codex when we code and in our reviews. Ive been taking more of an effort to use it and recently they added the codex plugin to our code reviews. Now i feel like every time i put something in, codex recommends a bunch of P2 reviews. If i fix one P2, it adds a few more. I even noticed sometimes it messes up what i was trying to do when i retest the changes. So it's like adding work to my day to change the code and then re-test before submitting it back.

Problem There are two related workflow limitations in the current Codex with ChatGPT design. 1. The Computer Use control path is not parallel safe Multiple workspaces/connectors can exist, but Codex still has to operate a visible ChatGPT browser context to send control messages and read replies. In the Windows Codex App this behaves like a shared, foreground control channel: If the user switches to another ChatGPT conversation/window, a pending click or keystroke may target the wrong conversatio

Yes, genuinely: thank you for all the recent usage resets . They helped. And yes, I understand that Codex usage cannot be measured by simply comparing prompts. Every task is different: context, tools, reasoning, repo state, subagents, caching, etc. But I’ve been developing the same platforms, with the same kind of workflows, for roughly two months now . At this point I have a fairly good feel for what Sol normally does and how much supervision it needs. My impression over the last few days is no
