“I keep reading how robbing is a problem if you leave access to undefended honey. Well, I did a summer extraction and have a few trays, spoons, and the extractor itself covered in delicious sticky mess. Left it in the bee yard upwind from the hives. Nothing. No interest at all…”

“Hello, I am a first year beekeeper who has started beekeeping earlier this year. I am from the North East of Scotland and have been enjoying the process of looking after my hive! The advice i need help with is it is now October and it would seem as if my queen has done me dirty and swarmed at this time of year as upon my previous inspection she could not be found and there were plenty of emergency cells all over two of the frames on both sides of the frames (inspections done on a weekly basis an”
“Hey fellow beekeepers 🐝 Quick context: I'm based in İstanbul, Türkiye — humid summers, mild-ish winters, roughly USDA Zone 8b–9a , with a pretty unique flora mix (chestnut, linden, wildflower, and unfortunately a lot of urban pollution). So take my mite timing with a grain of salt if you're in a colder or drier climate. Bit of a long one, but I think some of you will relate. I've been keeping bees for about 4 years now. Nothing huge — 6 hives on the outskirts of the city, plus a cou”
“Hello everyone, I am new here. Basically, I don’t really have any information about bee keeping. The country that I live in is Nepal. Although, depending on the area, the weather is cool or hot. The area that I live is very hot. I heard that bee don’t like to stay at a place where it is too or cold. If anyone have any suggestions, please do help me. submitted by /u/Ok-Positive-00 [link] [comments]”
“Howdy! My partner is interested in bee keeping but it can be a lot of info. Does anyone have recommendations for a beginner books or even all encompassing books on the whole process! I would like to get her one so that she will feel more confident to jump in! submitted by /u/mountianchuck [link] [comments]”

“In these wintering times I realized that this would be a peculiarity at least in the English-speaking beekeeping world, in Sweden at least it's extremly common to add acetic acid to the syrup (when it's at room temperature), adding thymol-solution would be quite unusual here. submitted by /u/Ekalugsuak [link] [comments]”
“Location: France / Europe I'm interested in learning more about how beekeepers use hive weight data throughout the season. It seems that the most useful information isn't necessarily the exact weight of the hive, but how that weight changes over time. For example: How quickly a hive gains weight during a nectar flow How much weight a colony typically loses during winter How useful weight data is when feeding Whether sudden changes in weight can provide useful clues about what's happe”

“Looking for some advice, we’ve started beekeeping and have gone with our bee group since the start of spring, now we have our bees home before winter comes here (Sweden) we were going to give 1 liter sugar water in a feeding balloon, disaster struck the cap fell off when we but the balloon in place and everything leaked down into the hive (middle) can they survive as long as the queen hasn’t drowned? We will be checking if we find her on Monday since I work weekends. submitted by /u/”

“I extracted 7 out of my 8 frames of honey and counted about 20 small hive beetles. I’ve been using murder sauce consistently. Is this an ok amount to have in one super? submitted by /u/Rugie85 [link] [comments]”
“Tomorrow im going to buy bees in a styro hive to move them to my top bar, but im not much sure on how to do it, any tips or guides i can follow so i dont mess up? submitted by /u/Coso_Che_Cosa [link] [comments]”
“UK bee keeper 30 colonies So I'm pulling some very thick honey this year reasons 13 14 per cent water. Now I'm ready for the pile on but does no one dilute it with sterilised water I mean 20 litres is suddenly 25 litres of legally salable honey. Thoughts scruples I've not done it but man it's tempting submitted by /u/Several_Cellist9783 [link] [comments]”

“My mother in law is an at home florist and we are looking to get some bees (as they are my favourite! and they will help the flowers). What would be the best bees to keep and any tips on how to get started? TIA x submitted by /u/lillysop [link] [comments]”
“Hi everyone, I'm from Bosnia, and about 10 days ago I started beekeeping with two hives. My neighbor, who has around 150 hives and has been helping me a lot, asked me to post here and see if anyone knows of companies or buyers that purchase bee venom. If anyone has experience with this or can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Independent_Shop_374 [link] [comments]”

Well, I did a summer extraction and have a few trays, spoons, and the extractor itself covered in delicious sticky mess. Left it in the bee yard upwind from the hives. Nothing. No interest at all. They just fly over it on their business. I would like to return that honey to the bees, but how would I make them interested? submitted by /u/One-Bit5717 [link] [comments]”
“Tell me if what I’m thinking is incorrect… Planning to harvest honey today/tomorrow. Was going to let the bees clean up any extra honey on the frames, then put them in airtight containers in the garage over winter. Should I put them in the freezer for a day before I store them? Does anybody have any airtight containers that fit frames well that they would recommend? Thank you! Texas submitted by /u/Low-Hurry9288 [link] [comments]”
“I've got six hives and looked at what it would cost to buy "proper" honey jars and labels, and nothing glass seems to be able to beat the cost and ease of just going to my local grocery store and buying flats of Ball canning jars. The only labeling I've been able to think of is putting round stickers on the lids, but I'd love to have something on the jar or something that looks just a little bit nicer. How do you label your canning jars of honey for sale? submitted by”
“I’m a 4th year beek, so still learning lots. In previous years, I’ve just taken the rule of 80%+ frame being capped in order to harvest honey. It’s been successful for us so far with no issues. I’ve never tested moisture content. For those of you that use this method- harvesting when honey is capped without using a refractometer- have you ever had your honey spoil? I’m definitely not against purchasing a refractometer, there’s on in my Amazon cart now! I’m just curious of how real the threat of”
“I've been beekeeping for a few years now up in sunny Scotland. With some success(keeping my hives alive at least) and a lot of lessons learned and looking to improve my rather ad-hoc recording keeping. I am looking to see what people would recommend for record keeping whether it's an app or record templates they find best? submitted by /u/TheWatson92 [link] [comments]”
“Hello, First year beekeeper here and it's brilliant fun, but I'm just coming across my first issues and the brood box is getting very congested with stores. Last week I took some remedial action in removing a couple of the outermost frames of stores and placing a couple frames of empty foundation towards the centre, seems to have helped a little but within a week they've drawn out and filled the new foundation about 75% with stores leaving only a small cluster of eggs in the middle,”
“Point of Origin; Greece. Destination; Denmark. I’ve a friend in Copenhagen that makes fabulous Mead. I’ve just got 4L of Greek honey, unlabelled, that I want to send to him. A quick google search says if I split the shipment into 2x2L I should be ok sending it under personal consumption guidelines. Has anyone any experience doing this within the EU, and can you foresee any paperwork or legal issues I might run into? submitted by /u/TheNorbster [link] [comments]”
“Was wondering why one of my hives was bearding so much and the other wasn't. There seemed to be quite a few girls buzzing aimlessly overhead that didn't appear to be orientation flights. Opened up my hive and found a bunch of swarm and supersedure cells. A few charged. Couldn't find the queen, but there were eggs in there. Close it up and leave it for a few weeks? submitted by /u/Syruponmypizza [link] [comments]”
“Hello! My wife and I are about to get a piece of property that is about 15,000 square feet. We plan to plant a lot of fruit trees, vegetables and flowers. We were interested in getting a bee hive but was wondering if there is a program or group that would be interested in placing their hive in our backyard. We are located in the Los Angeles area. submitted by /u/chooseme2005 [link] [comments]”
“Hi guys, not really a beekeeper but I come from a maths background and was curious about whether beekeeping is a data heavy hobby or is it more looking at things and vibes based, and if it's more of a data thing is there actually a lot to it or is it basic spreadsheet work? I'm considering a potential entry into it but aside from just handling these fascinating creatures I also enjoy analytical work and was wondering if this would kill two birds with one sting submitted by /u”
