“As a reapplicant who just got their first R of the cycle, I realize that this statement is in the responses of pretty much every med school. I think I remember once reading a story on here about a person who reapplied after asking a school that rejected them why they didn't get…”

Medical school applicants experience intense anxiety and fear of rejection, sometimes manifesting in nightmares. This is compounded by actual rejections received shortly after these dreams, leading to emotional distress and questioning of their efforts.

“First R that actually hurt because it was my top pick. 8 points above their mean mcat (!?!??) but not a good fit I guess. I got interviews from the two other states I’m tied to so thought I was writing well about connections. Even more frustrating because this was my shot at in-state tuition vs out of state at Alma Mater and hometown state. Fmllll not even an interview guys rly submitted by /u/FromBehindChampion [link] [comments]”

“Sure I applied MD-PhD so it's probably different, but still hurts nonetheless. Interview wasn't great so I didn't have high expectations, but genuinely one of the worst feelings in the world. I'm just staring at my phone praying they call me and just kinda knowing it's not gonna happen. submitted by /u/solarsun55 [link] [comments]”

“507 and 3.72 gpa and this school accepted mcats lower than 500 before. I really liked my interview too and the fact it was a 30 minute drive away from my house was one of the reasons I wished to attend. I know things are supposed to be "hollistic" and everything but it really sucks man. Im really worried for my cycle now. I only have one other inteview with kcu in a month but i havent heard anything back from my other schools. I guess now i dont have to pay a bullshit 2000 dollar depos”

“522 MCAT, 3.98 GPA, submitted everything in July within the first 2 weeks of getting each secondary from 35 schools, and so far all I've gotten are 6 Rs (one of them being my dream school) and 0 interviews. I get it, I'm probably a cookie cutter applicant and it doesn't help being CA ORM, but I had my writing reviewed and felt good about it, so as long as I hit at least the minimum on all my ECs I thought I'd at least be in a slightly better position right now (not that I only di”

“US MD, step 2 234, Step 1 first time pass applied to 96 programs on the East coast/mid west. Applied on time, and was expecting my first AI to be mid 1/3 and above, and learned it was bottom 1/3. All positive comments about being highly personable, motivated, knowledgeable, teachable but I had difficulty with a lac repair a resident anchored on and some presentations they felt I could’ve performed better on, which I agree with. At my 2nd AI right now at a top 50 program for the month of October”

“Got done with a few interviews and got handed my first R this cycle. While I understand that having a 3.2 SGPA isn’t the greatest, being told that being a medevac pilot and volunteering throughout my undergrad isn’t enough just grinds my gears. I’ve literally devoted my life to serving others. I know it’s just words but it still makes me upset. Also learned that my military schools aren’t counted with my GPA. Womp womp. submitted by /u/pelk34 [link] [comments]”
