Several posts express anxiety and confusion regarding the structure of CFE (Chartered Financial Analyst) exam cases, specifically concerning the integration of strategic alternatives with operational issues. Candidates are concerned about misinterpreting instructions or failing to identify required components within the exam format.

“Hi everyone I was wanting to get a perspective on how many items everyone addressed for the CRM Ao on case 3 for day 3 of the CFE. I want to get a general range of what every candidate wrote to see what the amount would be for an RC/ c. You don’t need to write what your wrote but more of the volume you wrote. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/No-Abies-7654 [link] [comments]”

“Has anyone previously selected two proposals that were actually in conflict but still passed? For example, when two proposals couldn’t both be selected because of a capacity constraint? submitted by /u/Ok_East8721 [link] [comments]”

“Can someone tell me what we were supposed to discuss for the business risk and mitigation for the 1st case? I am completely blanking and don’t remember what was required, or what I even wrote haha. Any help on what people wrote would be appreciated. submitted by /u/No-Abies-7654 [link] [comments]”

“I assume you mean for Day 3 you need exposure to uncommon AO. Basically you need to get used to the Competency Map, Day 3 needs like level B at Core level for all 6 areas. Whatever you don’t know, learn them. Debrief is a must to know where you’re weak at. I also wrote CFE past 3 days and I felt not very great on Day 2 due to the need for depth in audit (not my day to day job) and FR but I did my best to cover everything. However, I think Day 3 is my strength because I pretty much did a lot of t”

“Hi everyone, I am kinda worried about today's FR AOs for day 2 of the CFE. I am naturally good at FR in terms of technical and even on the practice cases but maybe cause of anxiety today, I made mistakes on various of the FR AOs 1 - rev rec: i discounted the 9K payments as i was genuinely lost on why they provided that interest rate and completely forgot that interest revenue would need to be recognized cause of it being a long term contract. Having said that though, i believe my 5-step anal”

“Hi, I rewrote the CFE Day 1 yesterday. I finished all the situational analysis factors, wrote all the strategic issues 2-4 and additional operational issue 5, but didnt have time to write strategic issue 1 as i ran out of time. I did all the quants. However I did do an overall recommendation and concluded on what direction MEI could take. Can I still pass if I missed a section as big as strategic issue 1, but completed everything else? Also, for the overall recommendation, I suggested MEI could”

“How bad is it if I copy pasted my recommendations under overall conclusion? I recommended option 1b and 2 but I didn’t go in detail for the proposals I didn’t recommend under overall conclusion because I ran out of time. Also under analysis of issues I recommended option 1A but I changed my recommendation under overall conclusion and recommended option 1B. Am I fucked?”

“I recommended proposal 1 option B and Aldara proposal. Can someone confirm for me that the new Spain facility will have its own independent production capacity and nothing to do with the option B no home furnishings production?? I feel like if option b capacity constraint will impact aldara im screwed. :( submitted by /u/Little_Influence2115 [link] [comments]”

“In class, we were taught the structure would be 4 strategic alternative questions + 1 smaller operational issue. So I sort of convinced myself there was an operational issue tied to strategy because I couldn't find anything else and forced Q1 into that mental framework: I grouped the pros/cons and conclusion for 1a/1b together, rejecting option 1 and recommending a combination of projects 2 and 4. Meanwhile, everyone else just did 5 distinct strategic blocks and told me there was no operatio”

“Today’s Day One case was relatively straight forward and borderline… easy compared to other practice day one cases. So with that being said, based on historical patterns, I fear that Day Two or Three are going to be on the more challenging side. If this prediction stands, I think it’d be worth quickly reviewing some feedback guides for challenging AOs as a quick refresher for tomorrow. So what are the hardest AOs in your opinion that would be worth quickly reviewing tonight? Specifically for Aud”
