“Why is my GPT 6-Luna gone? My GPT-6 Luna is gone, now I've got 5.6 Luna again and all my chats with intelligent UI or whatever that was called don't load either (at least on my Android, they do load on the website but still it's not 6 Luna anymore ) I'm a Go user”

“Confused about these weird decisions, if Sol 6.1 was the hot shit a few days ago, why are they making a big production about chat 6.0, when it's already the older version. (I already can guess 6.0 is cheaper and more fun for ERP people but I use this for research and knowledge…”
Users are expressing significant frustration and disappointment with recent changes to ChatGPT, specifically the introduction of the 'Terra' model in version 5.6. Concerns revolve around downgraded performance for coding tasks, disappearing features like SOL, and a confusing product map that has replaced familiar options with new apps. This is impacting productivity and user experience.

Reddit search showed some frustration, assuming that's normal when a new model hits but it seemed like quite a bit of posts, so curious to hear insight submitted by /u/theseawoof [link] [comments]”
“Can we talk about how OpenAI is completely misleading users with the GPT-6 naming convention? They hyped up GPT-6 Astra as this massive next-gen powerhouse. But if you are using the standard ChatGPT chat interface, you aren't actually using Astra—even if the UI proudly says "GPT-6". Instead, you're getting GPT-6 Sol or Luna , which are highly optimized, stripped-down versions of the model architecture. To make matters worse, the whole "Reasoning Effort" slider (Low, M”
“OpenAI's latest changes to ChatGPT Plus raise serious concerns about transparency, quality, and trust. GPT-6 High in regular ChatGPT is actually GPT-6 Sol, not the more powerful GPT-6 Astra , yet OpenAI no longer clearly displays the Sol name. My experience with GPT-6 High has been extremely disappointing, and I suspect this confusing setup is designed to push frustrated Plus subscribers toward GPT-6 Astra in ChatGPT Work, where additional usage can lead to extra costs. It feels like a delib”

“Day 1 of Tibo's 28-day challenge is a speed upgrade for Codex and ChatGPT Work. The announcement says GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol now have roughly 50% faster defaults across subscription products and Sign in with ChatGPT partners. It rolls out automatically. Less waiting sounds like a pretty good first move. The interesting question is how much it changes a normal session: a long reply, several follow-ups, or a task that spends time using tools. The video gives a visual breakdown of that dif”
“For me, Deep Research only seems to work in normal ChatGPT now, where the best model I can use is GPT-5.6 Sol. GPT-6 Sol, 6.1 Sol and Astra are available in Work/Codex, but Deep Research has disappeared there. Deep Research was definitely in Work and Codex and their docs still say it can be available there. I've also seen other people saying it disappeared around mid-September. In fact, if you select Deep Research in a regular chat window, switch over to Work and then put your prompt in, it”

I thought GO users have access to Luna only? Just with more limits? submitted by /u/Bloodymonday93 [link] [comments]”
“[ChatGPT] ★ 1/5 (v1.2026.266) — That says it all. It's supposed to be an upgraded version of 5.6 but I don't see it. I'm constantly having to go back to 5.6 just to get the answer I need or the right work done. It's constantly doing the wrong thing, answering the wrong question, picking up the wrong nuance, or just otherwise screwing it up. I've got so little confidence in it that I have to have 5.6 check everything it does. I trust 5.6. I wouldn't trust 6 to pick up dog mess in the yard.”
“When will Sol 6 roll out for ChatGPT? And is it true that Sol 6 is a downgrade from 5.6? I have some great projects and work with 5.6, and a downgrade would be really noticeable in them. submitted by /u/MonsterDeadWood [link] [comments]”
“Has anyone got access to them in regular ChatGPT yet? Any guesses on how long the rollout will take? I’ve seen them appearing elsewhere, but still nothing in the standard ChatGPT model picker. submitted by /u/Just_Run2412 [link] [comments]”
“There never was a 6 available on ChatGPT web tho? It was always 5.6 extra high tops and "6 pro". Only in Codex and Work you get Astra, which reasoning you can manually set”
“GPT-5.5 has been one of the models I’ve used quite a bit, so seeing it being retired/replaced feels a little strange. Model upgrades are obviously part of how AI moves forward, but sometimes newer doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll prefer the new model for everything. submitted by /u/RewardMiserable7487 [link] [comments]”
“Does anyone know what is the equivalent of GPT-6 Pro, from Chat Mode, in Work Mode? GPT-6 Pro thought for longer (x1.5 - x2), produced a better explanation, better structuring of the response, and better action points, compared to Astra Ultra in work mode and in Codex. Better tone as well (less dry), but I suspect this is because Chat mode is more conversational then Work mode. The question I gave it is approximately PhD level maths and ML. I wish I could use this in Work mode or in Codex.”
“It is, but not in ways most users would notice in chat mode. Even according to OAI marketing stuff there isn’t a huge upgrade from Sol on something like “help me figure out this problem from my homework.” Astra’s big upgrade is based on its ability to figure out how to do things effectively not knowing more things.”
“Clarification Needed: GPT-6 Astra Was Announced for “All ChatGPT Plus Users,” but Plus Access Is Currently Limited to Work/Codex”
“Because 5.5 was terrible the week before 5.6 release, and 5.6 in codex has been terrible the past 3 days for me. Keeps reverting back to a lot of default behaviors and I feel like I’m constantly having to fine tune my skills files to fix whatever keeps breaking submitted by /u/xaljiemxhaj [link] [comments]”
“[ChatGPT] ★ 1/5 (v1.2026.224) — I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with a recent change in my ChatGPT experience. The biggest issue is the lack of transparency regarding model switching. The app shows that I am using GPT-5.6 Sol, but in some situations the system appears to silently switch to GPT-5.5 mini without providing any notification or explanation to the user. The difference between GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.5 mini is extremely noticeable. This is not just a small change in response”
“I’ve been using ChatGPT with the Business Plan for a while now and I started using 5.5 Extended to work on a project, it was good, but then when 5.6 came out I started using 5.6 Sol High. For months I used it daily without ever running out of usage, the max I got it down was 56%. I was also using 5.6 Sol High on other chats at the same time too. I’ve been working on the same project and the same chats, nothing more complex but my usage seems to be running out extremely quickly. I worked on my pr”
“I thought it was non-swappable Luna, but my app shows Sol. I’m wondering if this is normal, a visual bug, or if I’ve just gotten lucky. In Work mode i have Luna and Terra + older models but not Sol at all. submitted by /u/Photon_Predator [link] [comments]”
“OpenAI removed the daily text chat limit 5.6, but i end up route to 5.5 mini. Anyone encounter this?”
“On a pro subscription , Luna has been the best with only some tasks using Terra now and then. My setup is: Master project folder: Master chat has access to limited resources external from all chats (almost always in plan mode) Sub chat (just for chrome profile a) Sub chat (just for utm / docker etc) Project folder: Topic main chat (almost always in plan mode) Sub topic a (task/chat id and title) Sub topic b (task/chat id and title) Sub topic c (task/chat id and title) Another project folder : Ne”
Is the new ChatGPT Codex application slower?
“[ChatGPT] ★ 1/5 (v1.2026.209) — OpenAI used to offer two different product surfaces: Codex and ChatGPT. They merged the two, and now there are about 50 different reasons why you may not see a chat you started in this mobile app on desktop, or one you started on desktop in the app. It's confusing and makes it super difficult to maintain context.”
“On a slightly different note those red moderation boxes have been dialled way up for anything NSFW that is still within their usage policy. Maddening. Evidence that yes they are making changes under the hood without telling us.”
“Its been a while now and the client situation feels like a mess. We have Chatgpt which is actually codex and Chatgpt Classic which is actually Chatgpt . For chat users the settings in the new Chatgpt client are a mess and maybe not even relevant half the time. Id actually be pretty ok with the Classic Chat going away if all of the memory/context/files could get moved over and my assistant could get work/code powers. Just add the model selector chatgpt version x codex version x That way I could d”

“Looks like the switch has started. GPT-5.5 Instant has been deprecated and 5.6 Instant is now taking its place. I already have 5.6 Instant in ChatGPT, so the rollout is definitely live for at least some accounts. I’ve attached a couple of screenshots showing it running, along with today’s updated release notes. Free and Go users are also getting 5.6 Luna as their default model this week, which is a pretty significant upgrade on its own. Nice to finally see the 5.6 rollout happening. Source: http”
“[ChatGPT] ★ 1/5 (v1.2026.202) — When using ChatGPT with Codex, I keep having a problem of noticing other files inside of my project behave differently with new errors when one of the new functions are features are built are just fixing something that was previously having a bug so keep an eye on that when you’re using ChatGPT with Codex. Whenever he touches one feature, you have to do a full app audit to make sure everything works properly so every time you do one little update you have to do a”
“OpenAI has confirmed Astra is the next model coming out but recently leaks have shown a second new model currently named MewFour. Has OpenAI hit a massive fork in the road? For the longest time OpenAI used to flip flop between a model for business like ChatGPT 5.0, 5.2 with emotionally intelligent models like 5.1, 5.4, 5.5 and 5.6. Clearly OpenAI realized their models needed both raw data retrieval intelligence and emotional intelligence which is why things started to improve after OpenAI stoppe”
“According to the Artificial Intelligence benchmark, GPT-5.6 Luna Low is like 40 times cheaper and scores a 33 compared to 5.5 instant's 29. Even the non-reasoning version of GPT-5.6 Terra is 5 times cheaper with a score of 34. Why does ChatGPT keep using it as the main chat model? (not talking about codex) submitted by /u/RacketyTerror [link] [comments]”
“Something changed this month that most people using ChatGPT haven't noticed yet. OpenAI quietly shifted from one model to a family of three. Sol, Terra, and Luna. The pricing goes from $1 to $30 per million tokens depending on which one you pick. In plain terms: not every task needs the most powerful model. If you're summarizing emails, drafting routine content, or doing basic research, you've probably been paying for a sports car to drive to the grocery store. Sol is the lightweight”
“Does ChatGPT 5.6 Sol on Plus switch you to lower effort models without your knowledge? Say if you're using 5.6 Extra (the maximum on the Plus plan) and you ask one too many questions, do you get switched to Medium without your knowledge? submitted by /u/butterflymon [link] [comments]”

“OpenAI is retiring ChatGPT Atlas and telling users to use the browser inside the ChatGPT app or the Chrome extension instead. Chrome extension gives you the sidebar, but it can only open a Work task rather than a normal chat. Therefore this uses your Work/Codex credits. ChatGPT Desktop is not even a browser, and yet they have the audacity to say "Atlas is being retired, go on, use the browser inside ChatGPT/Codex app". Codex browser is for developing and testing applications. It has no”

“I opened the app on my Mac the other day and was informed that the codex app is now ChatGPT and that the original app is now ChatGPT Classic. Ok that works for me, it was a pain swapping apps for different tasks. Since then I’ve used the “new” app for quite a large project. Mostly research and bouncing ideas around. Today I needed access to that information while not at my Mac. Turns out it’s only in the Mac app. The iOS app still only syncs with what is now ChatGPT classic and also doesn’t sync”

“OpenAI constantly releases new checkpoints on the instant models, even for the same ”dot version” - so you’re probably seeing one of the newer checkpoints.”
“I updated to the latest versions of ChatGPT and Codex, and I'm confused. Codex was renamed ChatGPT, so now there are two apps called "ChatGPT" with the same icon. But they are different apps. I thought this must be an upgrade error, so I trashed both, and downloaded the "Desktop app" from the ChatGPT web interface, and the Codex Desktop App from the Codex download site. Both downloaded today. They are both named ChatGPT, but they are clearly different apps! Anyone know wh”
“I am using ChatGPT API key in codex after GPT 5.6 release I see custom mode not GPT 5.6. Why? https://preview.redd.it/c1cg86q7gbch1.png?width=323&format=png&auto=webp&s=9717b30f10c094b37cf313018d2e3495c8fd79a4 submitted by /u/habib_jackson [link] [comments]”
“Here’s the clean read as of July 9, 2026 . The product map changed. “ChatGPT Classic” is not a new model. It is the old desktop ChatGPT app renamed. The new desktop app is simply called ChatGPT and combines Chat , ChatGPT Work , and Codex . OpenAI says Classic can still be used and will keep getting model updates and security fixes, but some new agent features only exist in the new app. ( OpenAI Help Center ) Codex is no longer just “the coding app.” OpenAI is folding Codex technology into a bro”

I could easily code with it for 3 to 4 hours straight before hitting any kind of limit. But with Terra, it feels like a lose-lose trap if you're actually using this for coding (this update might be great for roleplay if you use Luna, but for actual coding related stuff it's a”
