“I am significantly allergic to sanitizers such as Purell dt the perfume. This limits the sanitizer I use. Usually means I have to bring my own. I really liked the cal-stat because it doesn't dry my hands, but can't find it anywhere. Any other people have favorite scent free…”
“I am looking for a eco friendly hand santizer, but that is available in the UK. I have seen this one: Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Mist - but cannot see the percentage of alcohol and I think it has to be above 60% to do anything! Any suggestions would be great!”
“I get recurring bouts of eczema and have been trying to find a lotion to use as a "rescue" to prent a flare up when I feel it coming on. Bought a few different kinds in the past few months. One straight up irritates my skin more due to some ingredient I can't tolerate, and…”
Consumers are frustrated by deceptive 'eco-friendly' marketing and the difficulty of finding genuinely sustainable personal care products. They are experiencing issues with product ingredients, packaging, and availability, leading to distrust and a constant search for safer, more environmentally responsible alternatives. This search is often time-consuming and emotionally draining.

“I have a small cleaning business and am interested in making my own cleaner. I make a bucket of water with a splash of cleaner in each home (only clean rags go in the bucket). All of the castille soap based all purpose cleaner recipes I have come across are for sprays. Do any of you make a concentrate to add to a bucket of water? My thought would be to mix Castille soap, denatured alcohol and essential oil and just omit the water. Have any of you tried this? Thank so much in advance! (Side note,”
“Are bamboo paper products (toilet paper, tissues, paper towels) actually a better, more sustainable and environmentally friendly choice than tree paper? Are there any cons? submitted by /u/amwolf79 [link] [comments]”
“Due to whatever (tariffs?) à la maison French milled bar soap has close to doubled in price. Is there a domestically produced quality bar soap that isn’t so costly? submitted by /u/Ineedanewpancreas [link] [comments]”
“I’m looking into no waste shampoo and conditioner bars and just wonder what I should look for to make sure I’m buying something that will actually clean my hair; I found some on Etsy that I like but want to make sure I’m not just buying a random block of goo. I also want to know more about toothpaste and tooth powders and what is needed to keep teeth healthy and where I should try starting to find a more sustainable alternative to traditional toothpaste so I don’t have to keep buying from big co”

“I haven’t used any strip washes myself yet but my research so far has led to either Adams Strip Wash (Project Farm uses it in his YT video tests of various products), or DIY mix of my ph neutral soap and Koch Chemie Greenstar (plus distilled water in a foam cannon). [re: If you could put together the ultimate chemical list, for your own car(s).]”
“I usually keep a bucket with 2 gallon water and rinseless wash with microfiber soaking in them. I take it for all sorts of random jobs and toss it for washing. Other rinseleas washes I had stayed fresh for up to a week. But with ONR (regular blue v5) I noticed the Rancid smell after 3 days. Has anyone faced similar issues? submitted by /u/artic_icecat [link] [comments]”
“I have always used bar soap and I open end of the paper carton and store the extra bars in my linen closet next to the bathroom. The bars dry out a bit ( we live in a dry climate) so they last longer plus make my linens smell nice [re: Walmart Clearance Soap!]”
“I prefer the chenille mitts that don't have those fine fibers. I used one of yours once and it trapped a bunch of sediment that was tough to remove. Just something to check [re: How to avoid the scratching/halo?]”
“I hope that this is the right place and I hope that this helps! As things get tighter and tighter, some of the first things that I had to get rid of out of my budget were quality toiletries. Back to the cheapest toilet paper money could buy and toothpaste under a dollar. This included my body soap that regularly went above $10 PER BOTTLE and would last a few weeks at best. Which sucks. Life is hard enough, but it was nice to treat yourself a bit and smell good, right? On top of that, I have sens”
“It's a luffa, as in the ACTUAL body wash or cleaning sponges. They're a type of gourd, peel them and theyre natural sponges”
“I buy shampoo and conditioner handmade bars and I buy specialty, handmade soap like certain ones that have grit that are for scrubbing or ones that just have a really great smell, an unusual smell. And aren't crazy expensive? I definitely really like hand made soap, but earthy and spicy scents, not ever food scent, and I don't really like floral scent either.”
“Yes, if it's not insanely overpriced AND has scents and ingredients that I'm interested in. I am not usually interested in custom-blend scents-- I go for more of the natural botanical scents or recreated nostalgic scents (like "old fashioned barber shop".”
“I buy it at the farmers market. There is a specific one I like and I make sure to get the mesh wash bags too. I like the ones from the local farms that have wool wrapped around them for a scrubber”
“Pretty much as the title says - I am wanting to move away from supermarket brands as I want to be more aware of things I’m breathing in and have around my family. Is there a particular spray I can create myself which will clean most areas? Alternatively, what are some good brands? submitted by /u/Jaded_Assumption4376 [link] [comments]”

“Hi! I am wanting to get into zero waste toothpaste like tabs or powder, but I tried Bite tabs and unfortunately I am extremely sensitive to the chalky texture - it literally made me gag, and while I can "deal with it", I don't want anything to prevent me from wanting to brush my teeth. Has anyone tried anything that doesn't have that chalky texture? I haven't tried powder yet but I'm worried it would be the same issue. Thank you! submitted by /u/Lonely_Rabbi”

“It’s not 100% wax but it has waxes in it, we apply it like a wax, it’s sold to us in a wax tin. And it has synthetic waxes in it. It’s a wax just not a conventional wax.”

“It's because you need soap and water not disposable wipes. A foam cleanser is to be applied and rinsed away.”
“Depends if it’s soap verses detergent. Lots of dish “soaps” are the latter, which will destroy your plants.”
“I’ve been working on making lifestyle changes to become more sustainable. I’m looking for unbleached bamboo toilet paper from one of the more eco-friendly brands. I’ve heard of brands such as Who Gives a Crap, but I understand that bamboo is a highly greenwashable product. Also, apparently Who Gives a Crap bleaches their toilet paper. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/Big_Calligrapher3563 [link] [comments]”
“I'm unfortunately quite sensitive to added fragrances in cleaning products, so I'm looking for an unscented multipurpose disinfectant. I'd like something kinda like the Mr Clean antibacterial that can be used for floors, countertops, and bathrooms, just without the fragrance. When looking for unscented products though, all I seem to be finding are greenwashed 'natural alternative' brands that are made with vinegar or citric acid and don't actually disinfect anything while”
“I used to buy hand soap and add water to a foaming dispenser. My husband thought it was a single use dispenser and so we switched to bar soaps. But, I now notice that my bathroom sink gets scumified more often now. What is the better balance? submitted by /u/slothslothity [link] [comments]”
“Hey all. I’m in Canada, Barrie to be specific, and I cannot for the life of me find any bars of shampoo and conditioner. I can only find them online which entirely negates the purpose of container-less. Any recommendations? Walmart, shoppers, etc? Thanks. submitted by /u/SadBoyHoursAllDay [link] [comments]”
“Looking for recommendations on solid dish soaps to start off. I’m also looking for affordability. So far I’m leaning towards NoToxLife but if someone has any suggestions I can use all the help I can get! Also am looking for those who use it how their experience has been and what brush I should buy for my main brush. Thank you! submitted by /u/Same_Struggle9812 [link] [comments]”
“It's because "plastic" is a general term that describes dozens of different types of materials. One type of plastic can be a chemical barrier while the other is melted by the same stuff Types of plastic: PET (polyethylene terephthalate) HDPE (high-density polyethylene) PVC (polyvinyl chloride) LDPE / LLDPE (low-density polyethylene) PP (polypropylene) PS (polystyrene) ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) PC (polycarbonate) PMMA (acrylic) PA (nylon) POM (acetal / Delrin) PBT (polyb”
“Hey everyone, I’m trying to cut down on waste and avoid buying overpriced new spray bottles every time I need one for detailing or around the house. I have a bunch of empty bottles lying around that previously contained all kinds of stuff—glass cleaners, surface disinfectants, and general household sprays. My main concern is cross-contamination. I don’t want any chemical residues or leftover fragrances mixing with whatever new product or solution I put inside, especially when working on sensitiv”
“I finally did the thing i´d been meaning to do for years and cleared out my shower, and the haul empty bottles was genuinely embarrassing. Most of them i´d used twice and kept out of guilt all of them plastic, all of them slowly going off in the damp. The bit that surprised me was how little I actually needed once I stripped it back. My wholr wash routine is now just two bars, a kitsch rice water shampoo and conditioner, sitting in a little tin. One of each lasts me months and replaced about fiv”
This is awesome! Love seeing the community break down the chemistry behind expensive commercial products and make it accessible. Thanks for sharing the recipe and doing the legwork!
“Yes thank you. Should I switch over to bar soap? I heard they last longer. So I just might!”
“Hi does anyone have any recommendations for laundry tablets available in the UK? I’ve heard smol smell bad, although haven’t tried them myself to confirm. I’d rather use tablets as I find them easier to use but open to any suggestions. Thank you! submitted by /u/DistinctDifficulty85 [link] [comments]”
“Hey everyone! Does any one know of any sustainable curly creams, gels, leave ins, and mousses, especially ones that won't break the bank? I typically use gel and leave-in already. I really would like to start making my hair care helpful to the earth even if it's a small bit but still maintaining the health of my body. Thanks! All help is appreciated! submitted by /u/Apprehensive-Bee5911 [link] [comments]”
“Look at the ingredients in your shampoos - there are a lot of ingredients that my scalp can’t tolerate. It took a side-by-side list of about a dozen products before I found the culprit this last time (linalool). I may have to plant my own shampoo now!”
“I ordered bamboo brushes to replace plastic and I’m struggling with mold growth and fungus. What is a better alternative? I tried soaking the brush in half vinegar and water but it’s still moldy. Is this too organic for mold to be this tempted? submitted by /u/Tall-Sherbertd [link] [comments]”

“Maybe. I haven't bought a bottle in like 4 years. They probably made it more eco friendly”

“I have been trying to buy this for weeks and I want it to work out because I thought I had finally found an eyeliner that would work for me and was certifiably safe, so I am hoping someone here can help me figure out what is going on. The listing says the formula is "lead-free", "independently tested by an ISO-accredited US lab using ICP-MS", and that it "meets and exceeds US and EU cosmetic safety standards". I wanted to see that testing, so I messaged the seller a”
“I tried nutrafol post natal. It has marine collagen and has such a fishy taste. My body odor has become fishy too and I realized today that my frozen breast milk probably will smell and taste like ass. So any recommendations on a post natal with hair loss benefits that has zero fish related components would be appreciated. submitted by /u/jklm1234 [link] [comments]”
