“Yes, well that is what I am trying to do but I like your idea of running each one separately and seeing which one might be leaking. I’m really hoping it’s not the bathtub upstairs because I’d have to smash out all of the tiling because the plumbing is on the outside wall. [re: Any suggestions for next steps? TIA]”

“We recently had our boiler serviced and condensate drainage upgrade and waste clear out. Everything has been working fine, but when we’ve tried to use our heating something is going wrong. The boiler registers it as on, and the pipe coming out of the boiler heats up, but it isn’t reaching any of the radiators. Pressure is fine and radiators have all been bled. Wondering if a valve has been left in the wrong position or it’s something I can fix, or whether we need to call the plumber? Pics attach”

Found out all the toilets , washing machine , dishes washer , some taps , basically everything that’s using the rain water suddenly not working From the photos , found there was a red light failure so tried a few things : - power on and off - pressing the restart button - holding the restart button ( could hear some humming so something is working ?) - tried unplugging the components and plugging them directly t”

“What are the most common plumbing problems in Middle Tennessee? Common problems include clogged drains, leaking faucets and pipes, water-heater issues, low water pressure, sewer-line problems, and frozen or burst pipes during unusually cold weather. Why do Middle Tennessee homes have so many plumbing leaks? Older plumbing systems, aging fixtures, shifting soil, corrosion, and temperature changes can all contribute to leaks. How do I know if I have a hidden water leak? Unexpectedly high water bil”

“I admittedly don’t have a single clue about plumbing - and, yes, I should probably contact a professional, but I’m not very wealthy at the moment. So before opening my purse I thought I’d ask here if there’s a straightforward way to install a water trap (with two connectors for washing machine and dishwasher). As you can see, the opening on the sink is the same height as the entrance to the wall pipe (51cm). The water trap including the extension for the machines adds 15 cm - putting the exit ho”

“Over the last few weeks my wife and I have been experiencing some blockages in the plumbing. First it was the kitchen sink which wouldn’t drain. I used a 25’ drill driven snake and it cleared up the issue. A week later the work sink that our washer drains into is experiencing a backup, so out comes the snake again but to little effect and when a lot of water goes down the kitchen sink it backs up into the basement. These two sinks share a drain to the sewer so my theory is that the clog moved do”

“I have an unfinished basement with no supply registers. I’ve noticed the gas water heater was having a backdrafting problem and the house had a radon problem, indicating a negative pressure problem in the basement. I started to seal up my return ducts (which were the cheap sheet metal over joists instead of actual ducts), but then I noticed this, a point in the return where PEX water pipes have been threaded through the return ductwork. There’s a noticeable unsealed gap on both sides of the duct”

“Family member just bought a house. After doing the first load of laundry, water started spitting up the kitchen sink. The pipe going above the water heater goes to the kitchen sink. There is no vent for the kitchen sink. I think the wye with the clean out under the sink should be a danger? I’m not sure about if how the washer and sink drains connects is good practice. Also the check-valve next to the water heater doesn’t seem like it should be there? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated”

“The toilet at my parents' house has been doing this thing for MONTHS where, after you flush it, the water'll, like, surge in and out of the pump or whatever it is, and while it's doing that, the shower, sink, or whatever you turn on will surge also. Like the water stream in the shower or sink will go from strong to light every 2 seconds. But around the same time that the water surge-y thing started happening, I noticed that the handle would sometimes just not flush the fucking toilet”

“More than likely it's from the water mains. There's also a possibility that there's galvanized piping. It's not anything that you're going to be able to fix. One thing that's very common even today is that DIYers will install a shower valve or the tub spout with black iron gas pipe. That will cause a bit of rust to come out when you first turn the water on but it will immediately clear up. This is more likely buildup from the water mains or they're doing hydrant flush”
