“Hey all I have a 1 year old Collie x Cocker Spaniel mix and a couple of days ago he has a serious behavioral regression that resulted in him biting me hard enough to bruise the skin This issue was due to putting on his harness something we do about 5 times a day for short and…”
“I have a female heeler mix puppy who is sweet as pie 99% of the time. She’s super intelligent and well-behaved, and we’ve invested a ton of time socializing her with people, dogs, and different experiences. She goes to daycare 1–2x a week and is described as “perfect” (except…”

Owners report their dogs, including well-trained breeds, suddenly biting or mouthing family members aggressively. Redirecting with toys fails, and ignoring the behavior does not reduce the biting. This is causing distress and fear among owners who expected training to curb such behavior.

She’s super intelligent and well-behaved, and we’ve invested a ton of time socializing her with people, dogs, and different experiences. She goes to daycare 1–2x a week and is described as “perfect” (except when they try to trim her nails). Out of nowhere, she has started randomly snapping at people. Some are people she knows and loves, while others are overnight guests who aren’t part of her regular routine. She doesn’t bite,”

We don’t know much about Pearl’s life before the rescue, but it is very clear that she had a difficult start and has some significant behavioral issues as a result. Pearl is reactive, guards her food, and can be unpredictable around people. My mom has gotten pretty good at recognizing her cues and has worked extremely hard to manage her, but Pearl has still snappe”
“For context, we have a 1-year-old, 16-lb female Shih Tzu who we’ve had for a little over a year. She is extremely social, very loving and loves dogs and people. We recently took her to the groomer on Saturday. She hadn’t been in a while because we usually groom her ourselves, but we’ve both been busy with work and needed a break. Since coming home from the groomer, she has been behaving very differently. She’s been extremely clingy and constantly demanding attention. She also hasn’t been listeni”

“Hi everyone I have a 19 week Lhasa apso female puppy’s I’ve had her for 10 weeks. She is my second Lhasa having lost my first one at 11.5 years very traumatically 4 months ago. I’ve had this little one for 9 weeks now. I also had puppies growing up, family dogs who were pups and family members who had Lhasa’s too, so I’m quite used to puppies and this breed, but this little lady bites me so much, more than what I think is normal puppy biting. I can’t have her sitting with me in the evenings as s”
“I have a 2 year old cavapoochon. She’s very small for her breed. She’s my baby and does as she pleases cos she’s tiny. When I arrive home from work I am mauled with gentle bites and kisses at the over excitement. No harm she doesn’t hurt me Now I’ve picked up a Maltipoo. 16 weeks old and I’ve had him for 2 weeks. He’s currently half the size of her but he’s starting to mimic her behaviour but when he nips it’s not soft and his teeth are like razors. I feel I need to get both of them to stop the”

“I’m looking for honest advice after an incident involving my 6yo, 85 lbs Bernedoodle and my sister’s 2yo son. When I was training him back in 2020 I visited this sub often because although he wasn’t reactive at that point, this sub always had good advice and it helped me be a better and more aware dog owner. TLDR: My large dog nipped my 2yo nephew. He also once nipped a guest who reached toward me. Next steps are separation, behavioral evaluation, and muzzle training. Looking for advice. So yest”
“We have a border collie husky mix who is 8 years old. We got her when she was 8 weeks old and put her in puppy training. From the day we brought her home she demonstrated some food aggression tendencies which was emphasized during training sessions as treats were used as rewards and their other dogs around. Her resource guarding and food aggression continued despite all the training recommendations of picking up her food when she displayed these habits, minimizing, interruptions, etc.. over the”
“Jasper: 15 week old Cattle dog mix (some kind of large breed is the other half, doggy-DNA test pending), currently 40#. We have had him just over a week. We have a fully and well-fenced and fairly large yard. While we have a dog door, he is never outside (so far) without close supervision. My neighbors have three very poorly behaved dogs who bark at us nonstop when we're in our own yard and antagonize our smaller older dog to the point that they chase each other up and down the fence. I have”
“First of all, I'm rather sad I have to make that post because it means I have failed as a dog trainer on some level. Some background about me. I have been around dogs my whole life, both as work animals and as house pets. I was raised with two dogs, and now that I'm older, I have also raised two other dogs myself from puppyhood, one of which we had to sadly say goodbye to last year, at the ripe age of 15. Our current dog is 8; he's a rescue (mutt with a lot of golden retriever) we fo”
“My girl has forgotten everything she ever learned at exactly her first birthday. No leash manners, ears not working, mouthing when excited, mouthing when not getting her will, whining to get attention. How long will this phase last? She was so good at 9 months old 😭 submitted by /u/SweatnGarlic [link] [comments]”
“So my girl is 16 months old, mixed breed (mainly herding and companion), and I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old. I recently discovered that I think I’m accidentally frying her nervous system. I think I’ve done too much in regard to socializing and exposure, so I think I’m going to “ground” her for a few weeks to help her cortisol even out. I think she just exists over-aroused at the moment which could be contributing to her behavior and difficulty relaxing, not listening, her hypervigilence,”
