“Hi. I had to cut out a piece of drywall for a leak, and decided to patch it myself. After a few hours learning on youtube, I just finished taping last night. Most of the tape looks well embedded, except for a 3cm x 1cm patch where the edge is slightly lifted from the wall after…”
“How do I remedy? Do I need to or can I just keep mudding layers over it? I figured that it would continue to show.”
“There are a few spots where the new drywall sticks out further than the old drywall, about 1/16th-1/8th of an inch. I tried sucking the drywall in tight but there’s not much else I can do. Is the solution just feathering drywall mud up higher to blend it in, or will it be way…”

“There are a few spots where the new drywall sticks out further than the old drywall, about 1/16th-1/8th of an inch. I tried sucking the drywall in tight but there’s not much else I can do. Is the solution just feathering drywall mud up higher to blend it in, or will it be way too noticeable? This is my personal office so truly I don’t mind if there are a few blemishes, but my ADHD wants everything to be perfect lol submitted by /u/nickman940 [link] [comments]”
“First time drywalling and had a few blowouts near the edges and fixtures. What kind of mud would you use for these, and do you just fill with hot mud or hot mud and tape? Also, I noticed my flat edge has a 1/8” gap with the other flat, do I prefill that as well? submitted by /u/MisunderstoodPetey [link] [comments]”
“How can i fix this? Patch tape coming up through first coat of mud!! Help please- first timer here submitted by /u/Traditional-Pack3029 [link] [comments]”
“After taping I have a small, 6 inches, I was going to add mud to low side to even it out. Should I continue to use general mud or switch to easy sand 20 mud I used to fill some gaps submitted by /u/delucp [link] [comments]”
“I've tried to sand down the wall filler as much as I can but it's been there for a while now and just solid. Its in an area where the skirting board was removed for furniture but was covered in wall filler instead of joint compound. Would it be okay to seal it with diluted primer and then joint compound/paper joint tape on top of it before sealing that and painting? submitted by /u/dorayi [link] [comments]”
“Here are 2 patches I did yesterday. I applied fibatape first then tried to patch a layer over but the tape kept slipping off so I applied compound first then tape and a layer on top. The endings on the tape kept peeling off so I had to pick off strands of fibatape from the patch. Should I sand and keep applying the next layer or remove everything and start again? Thank you for reading. submitted by /u/sarabia00 [link] [comments]”
“Patching a 2 x 4’ section of ceiling. The new section I cut and drilled in wasn’t perfect, so I have some gaps (~.5”)where I used mesh tape and will need several coats of mud to fill and even out. Do I need to sand after each of these applications or just the final one? submitted by /u/Bbcc001 [link] [comments]”
“hello drywallers, I built this pony wall and then needed to add plywood (~5/8-3/4”) after it was only finished. i’m going to put a countertop over it, but now need to find a way to bring the drywall up to cover the sides of the exposed plywood. What’s the best way to handle this? Ang tricks out there? btw. dumb question - what’s the difference between “drywall”/“sheetrock” - is it a regional thing? i mentioned sheetrock to people before around here and they look at me like i’m a dummy. sub”
“Should I scrap or sand down existing paint/texture? Just go straight to taping and muddying? Paper tape or mesh tape? Spray knockdown can to match the texture? The patch in question is on the left in the second picture submitted by /u/eng2725 [link] [comments]”
“https://imgur.com/a/jaYQMfC I was noticing that my drywall was starting to separate from the metal corner bead so I decided to tear out all the loose stuff and fill in back in with some 45 minute hot mud. I had prepped the surface and cut angles into the drywall after all the loose stuff came off. I had done two coats when I still had a dip in some places and edges that weren’t completely smooth yet. So I did a third coat and then while it was drying it started to delaminate from the ceiling in”
“Homeowner coming to end of my first new wall + door project. This is about 2 inches long right in the middle of the wall of the front hallway. I did a mediocre job lining up panels and this butt joint was pretty rough. I was able to build up enough mud to hide it except for this one spot where I left a bubble thinking I could hide it. First coat of high build primer is on and it's a lot better but definitely not hidden. At this point I'm thinking I just need to accept it and cut it out a”
“First time doing a drywall patch, I know I very obviously did not fan out the edges enough. I was having trouble covering my tape and ended up putting too much compound, and didn’t see how bad it was until the first layer of paint. What would be the most effective way to fix this? submitted by /u/Shaneboi21 [link] [comments]”

“Vibrations from construction caused the drywall to crumble. I asked GC to patch it and this is what the first layer looks like. Is it good enough or sinking too much? He says he will add tape and one more layer. submitted by /u/Golf_Story [link] [comments]”
“I’m guessing all of them and float the mud out.. but not sure.. any help much appreciated 🙏 submitted by /u/AlarmingBlueberry660 [link] [comments]”
“I did hot mud to fill in the gap but I still have a fairly large bump there. So do I hot mud more and float it out to the right or Do I tape it and then just float it out after even though the tape isnt "flat". Ty. submitted by /u/darkstream81 [link] [comments]”
“I have a 4” hole I’m trying to patch. Saved the old piece and screwed it in. Threw some spackling compound over the edge and was planning on taping and mudding. Do I need to? Or could I just use compound and sand? It’s in a relatively under used part of the house if that matters… submitted by /u/AppropriateGuide4542 [link] [comments]”
