“Today I got bit by 277. In one arm out the other. Whomever pulled the wire or whomever landed the lighting control panel screwed up and I got bit because i didn't test. Circuit 13's constant hot was tied to the switch leg and 13's switch leg was tied to circuit 9. I was up an…”

“Over cut the hole, broke the drywall, used 5/16 hex heads instead of 8-32s broke the box. They used drywall screws into the drywall to hold the box. Found the vanity hanging by its wires against the mirror. I seriously hate people sometimes.”

Multiple posts from electricians express frustration with substandard work performed by others, outdated infrastructure, and navigating contractor regulations. This points to a need for better quality control in construction and potentially simplified licensing/regulatory processes.

“Any pointers or tips? We still have more work to do there. We had an old fuse box to swap that actually was a thing of beauty. Somehow they used fuses on a house built in 1984. The Builder must’ve had some old stock on his truck or something because I thought everyone was using breakers by that point. I plan to double check wire sizes and breaker sizes because I’m not exactly sure about the double pole size, but we have some extra breakers submitted by /u/ahobonamedjoe [link] [”

“Hey, I'm back in this sub asking for advice regarding the Fluke Testers. I was always aware that a good electrician always does these two things, a good trusty and sometimes rusty linesman pliers, and a trusty tester. Are there any Fluke users here? Of course I am an apprentice and I don't see myself being with a $1K tester. So I set my eyes on the T-5 600 (again I don't see myself yet working where 1,000 volts is required, maximum voltage I have worked was 480 on the three phase pan”

“Hey, I have the YesWelder MG 250 Pro, which the contractor at my house wired to the circuit breaker for 240 V. However, they basically took an existing electrical set up for a Tesla, and moved that over to my shop. Since then, I’ve expanded my shop, and had another contractor pull that wire over to the new shop. What I realize now, is that all that wiring is 10 AWG. Since this was pre-existing, and I had two different contractors work on it, I’m not sure if they didn’t just add onto what was alr”

“Power was off. Truss head screws were used on the box because that's what I had. Waygos are taped because I trust them as much as much as a back plugged fed receptacle. Receptacles are taped because I always do/will. You never know who's going to go touching what they shouldn't. submitted by /u/Skyrimfanboy87 [link] [comments]”

“It's my 2nd month in and I was told to cut the extra wire from the disconnect going to the meter box. It's about 200 ft of conduit at least running on the ceiling . 3 250kcmil wire and 1 ground, when I cut it i forgot to tape the phases that were on the ends now I don't know which one is which, the only one I can confirm is the red since I cut it in the middle of the label that's printed on the wire the other 2 no idea. Is there any solution to this before I get my ass beat. The”

Circuit 13's constant hot was tied to the switch leg and 13's switch leg was tied to circuit 9. I was up an extension ladder working in a 2x2 box when it happened. Don't get complacent fellas. “This customer was complaining about breakers tripping, and lights flickering. Previous electrician had installed subpanel for EV circuit. Had used all PVC which he had glued to the boxes with silicone, but had not glued any of the pieces to each each other. he rerouted the kitchen appliance circuits into the subpanel and downsized the wire from 10 to 12. He ran all white for the EV circuit wires and then faced the Hot. And apparently it took him a half dozen visit to complete the work. When the”
