“Stop making the same teammates join calls at 11 PM. Global Meeting Scheduler rotates recurring Outlook meeting times so time-zone pain is shared fairly across geographically dispersed teams. “I work remote, travel across time zones a lot, and have friends that live in a few different time zones. Coordination across time zones just plain sucks. I don't care if the sun is up between 02:00 - 15:00 and I have to work 04:00 - 12:00 at my specific locale. People will adjust. The state that I live in used to have a time zone border on a river, which split two cities. When the bars closed at 1AM in one city they'd get in their cars and drive a few minutes to the next city so they&#39”

“Yes and no. There’s a spectrum with trade offs where sometimes it makes more sense to pay more for somebody who’s in your own time zone. Otherwise, those jobs would all be remote in the first place. So some of the formerly H1B exclusive jobs will get shipped overseas for sure, but others will go to Americans. [re: Microsoft suspended from H1-B program]”

“have you checked whether the date/time you're selecting is actually in the future? ive seen platforms default to the wrong timezone and then treat it as a past date, which sometimes just leaves it sitting as unpublished”

“Yeesh. I've been using the table for 5 years.. so far it's escalated to the dev team and they are looking into it..”

“This is handy. Time-zone mistakes are so easy when scheduling across teams. A small thing that’d help me is showing the date rollover clearly, not just the hour. Nice work.”

“Yeah, this is an easy one to set too. Unless there’s a big time zone gap, like west to east coast and that’s why you do 7am. Same time zone? Nah, no meetings before 9, easy”

“Mountain time vs Swiss time. 8 hrs. Feel bad for our coworkers out there as they are the ones getting shat on. Often they have meetings with us from 6-10pm their time.”

“UTC -4 to UTC +10. We would pretty much touch base at the start and end of each of our days.”

“Two different things got tangled here. The imposter feeling did not cost you this one. A timezone did. That is a calendar bug, and it is the only part of this with a fix you can apply this afternoon. Use a booking tool that renders the time in their zone, and make the confirmation spell out both zones with the date written in words rather than numbers. Thick skin comes with reps and you will get those either way. The calendar thing keeps charging you until you fix it once.”

“Time zone stuff catches everyone who works across them. Watch the two weeks in march and november when the US and EU move their clocks on different dates, every recurring call I had was an hour out and I found out by sitting in an empty room. Everything gets booked off an invite now, never a time typed into a message.”
