“TLDR : right after gas refill and cleaning by a known person, loud noise from ac vent and stabilizer kept tripping. The person told stabilizer problem without inspecting it and took it for a repair. We had a known person do regular servicing of our A/C a few weeks ago though the A/C was completely fine, he told there was a gas refill needed as there was no gas. And he did the usual cleaning as he told there was dust accumulation. Right after this there was a loud rumbling kind of noise while air”
“I need some help. I have a 26-year-old Lennox AC unit that won't turn the AC on. I keep an extra capacitor on hand and have changed it out. When I depress the contactor it turns on so I ordered a new contactor but that did not fix it. I followed the voltage signal from the thermostat all the way out to the unit and it seems to stop at this type of fuse? That I've never seen before. It seems like a time delay or inline fuse and I would like to order it and replace it myself instead of cal”
“Trane XL14i stopped working completely. I checked the capacitor and it looked normal (no swelling or visible damage). I reset the breaker and inspected the wiring, but the unit would not restart. The AC remained off for the entire day. Then, in the middle of the night, it started working again without any intervention. It has now been running normally for about 6 hours and is cooling the house back to the thermostat setting. Outdoor coil clean When the AC was not running, I couldn't hear a c”
“My house is currently 75 and it is set at 68. The AC is not working in the house. The outdoor unit is not running. I can hear the unit in my basement running. The thermostats are on. I plan on calling someone tomorrow but I was wondering if there was anything I could trial to see if I could get it to work. I know absolutely nothing about hvac. submitted by /u/nlmeyer [link] [comments]”

“My AC has been flickering off and on like this for two hours. I’ve turned it off and on and it started working normally again for about an hour but just went back to doing it. Not sure what’s happening and want to know if it’s something my roommates and I can fix before making a call to the landlord. submitted by /u/Inevitable-Race1274 [link] [comments]”
“My ac unit keeps turning off and the fuse box light turns red I switch the fuse it'll work for a couple hours then turns red and outdoor ac shuts off and on one side where the fuses go the screw seems to be burned could it be that whire is burned its not always that said where the light comes on just guessing submitted by /u/CompetitionMotor4927 [link] [comments]”
“I’m trying to diagnose an intermittent problem with my home AC and I’m hoping someone here has seen this before. I have a Goodman split-system AC. The indoor air handler will be running and the thermostat will show that it’s actively calling for cooling, but sometimes the outside condenser unit just sits there and doesn’t run. I took a video showing exactly what happens. My Amazon/Alexa thermostat was showing about 73°F and “Cooling,” the indoor air handler was clearly running, then I walked out”
“The AC does not run every time I turn it back on using the control panel. After about a minute, it turns back off, and then it says “CH237” at the bottom. Does anyone know what that means? submitted by /u/Several-Risk388 [link] [comments]”
“Thanks for reading! My home AC unit will not turn on. When at the thermostat and I set to "cool", it clicks and my thermostat display goes blank for a second or two (never did this before) then comes back on showing the "cool" setting but the AC is not turning on. My air handler outside makes a clicking noise when I set the AC to "cool" but no compressor or fan turns on and there is a low hum noise continuously. There is also a green blinking light each second on an”
“A few nights ago our AC was randomly shutting off. I noticed when i'd move the wires for the indoor condenser, the AC would start back up. I opened the electrical panel on the condenser (after shutting off the breakers of course) and checked all the wire nuts to ensure everything had a good connection. The unit ran fine for a few days, then it started doing this again (always does it at night for some reason) Starting to think there's a break in one of these cables internally. Looking fo”
“I noticed our AC wasn't running so I went to look at the condenser unit and all I heard was humming. The fans were not turning. I pulled the breaker outside the house. Doing some googling. One suggestion was a bad capacitor. It said if the capacitor was bad there would be a bulge on it. I took this picture. It looks bulging to me but wanted to get some other input. Thanks for the help. submitted by /u/HonoluluEpstein [link] [comments]”
“Our central AC works only intermittently. Last week, AC stopped working in the afternoon. Inside fan continued to blow, but outside fan stopped. We called the tech and he scheduled the visit today. Over the weekend, sometimes the AC would work for 15 - 30 minutes, then the outside unit would stop. Sometimes the outside unit wouldn't even start. Sometimes it would try to start but stopped 5 seconds later. The inside fan always turned on with no problem and stayed blowing until it's turned”
“My A/C unit runs for about two minutes then turns off again, and then does the same thing. This started on Friday night and ironically only happens during the day time. At night it runs fine. I have a Google nest that’s about 3 years old. Before calling out a company should I try changing the thermostat? From what I’ve researched this is a consistent issue with Nest thermostats submitted by /u/ebegrowi [link] [comments]”
“My AC system is a heat pump, less than 2 years old. Late last night the AC was running and a storm knocked loose a twig which wedged itself between the fan blade and the case and stopped the fan completely. At the time I just noticed my indoor air stopped blowing cold, and I observed the outside unit wasn’t running so I shut off the AC for the night. The breaker was not tripped. This morning, after discovering and removing the twig, the system still won’t start. What’s the most likely scenario h”
“So a few days ago, my AC stopped blowing cold so I checked the condenser unit and it would buzz but the fan would not turn on. I replaced the capacitor and when I turned on the breaker the fan turned on and it began blowing cold. 15-20m later, it stopped blowing cold again. It was warm and the unit began buzzing instead of the fan turning on again. What could be the issue?? submitted by /u/Flaky-Mode [link] [comments]”

“Hi all. It's after 9pm here and my Central ac stopped working. After doing some checking I can see the electronic fan timer (Emerson) is flashing fast green. It will not turn the fan on. I hear a click, then the led flashes fast. Does anyone know what that code means? I've replaced the capacitor next to the board. Tia submitted by /u/Training_End2958 [link] [comments]”
“Not sure what this means..... Should I be worried about it? Also, ac was blowing fine but all of sudden airflow got weaker... Could it be bad blower motor capacitor. If so, what's the safe was to replace it? I've seen YouTube videos but I have yet to open up the unit because of the flashing red LED.... Thanks! submitted by /u/my_little_kittens [link] [comments]”
“That's all the "current" data I've got... any idea what kind of an AC problem would exhibit symptoms like these? This power draw was measured at the circuit btw, not at the AC unit itself. When I look at the AC unit, neither the fan nor the compressor are running. submitted by /u/junon [link] [comments]”
“My breaker has flipped a couple times on a 30amp breaker, this week, I reset it twice and the AC worked fine those days, then today the AC quit working all together I tried flipping the breaker back off and on but nothing, the fans or compressor don't turn on, it seems like the inside unit isn't getting power, I've checked and everything is turned to the "on position" . But still no power Recently moved into this place so I opened a service request up with home shield warra”
“Two days ago I went to turn the ac on after getting home from work. The thermostat was reading 91F. When I turned it on the ac turned on for about one second before I heard a small pop sound and the thermostat went black. I went to the furnace/blower in the basement and found that that 20a fuse outside the unit had blown. I replaced that as this is not the first time it has happened only this time nothing else has change with the ac or the thermostat. The unit is getting power I can see the main”
“My AC stopped working today. I think it has something to do with the furnace, as the blower isn’t running either when I set the fan on indefinitely. Last night it smelled like something was burning, like electrical burning smell. I thought it might be the from the Orkin visit the same day, but here we are to today, no airflow. It’s a 2 stage Trane furnace about 2-3 years old, and a 1 year old Trane AC with the newest refrigerant type, I think r454 if I’m not mistaken. I’m guessing it has somethi”
“I came home and my Gree AC had stopped working mid-cycle. No light is turned on, it’s not blowing air, the remote control is still on. The breaker is ON, I tried putting the CB ON and OFF but nothing happened, the outdoor unit is not turning. It has been installed less than a month ago and depending on the issue, they might charge me 250$ for the technician visit. Any idea what the issue can be? submitted by /u/earthtext [link] [comments]”

“Fan inside the house is turning on and blowing air, but the unit outside is not turning on when it’s set to cool. So far I have checked breakers, the drain line is not plugged, I’ve replaced both the capacitor and contact, it still won’t turn on. Before I have someone come out to look at this, or spend thousands on a new one, is there anything else I should do? Replace the blower motor? submitted by /u/CrueDude18 [link] [comments]”
“So this past Friday, I came home from work and my house was 85°. I checked outside and the fan nor compressor were on and my AC vents were blowing warm air. I changed both capacitors but it didn’t kick off right away so I reset it on the breaker and it kicked off. I thought I solved the issue until the next day it went out again, but this time I changed the conductor and as soon as I changed it, it kicked off and worked for 1 day. Now after changing all those three parts My AC still only works u”

“i bought a brand new GE WINDOW AC UNIT a little over a year ago and last weekend the power went out briefly and the AC unit never turned back on the light on the outlet is illuminated but the display on the air conditioner will not show and it will not turn on has anyone had similar issues and no of any fixes submitted by /u/jwoodyindahoodi [link] [comments]”
“Ac unit cut off. Been very hot here and running a lot. But thermostat (changed batteries) is working and saying for it to cool but neither outdoor unit or indoor fan will run, click, hum or nothing. I checked and reset all breakers. Changed out outdoor unit fuses and replaced both the indoor and outdoor capacitors. Can anyone tell me what to do next? Thank you submitted by /u/Saltyveins33 [link] [comments]”
“It will turn off randomly and not turn back on until i hit the Breaker. I had someone come look at it of course we just lost our 2 year warrenty they came out for free the one time. I got a younger guy which was fine he did look at everything and his final take was we had too many vents being blocked and it was messing with the sensor. I think a older experienced hvac guy would of checked the drainage I mite be wrong tho. I did go back when he left and the U trap was full. I then today found the”
“So I woke up this morning to my AC not working and the thermostat blank. I found the condensate pipe had a clog in it. I cleared it out, suctioned all the water out of the overflow pan, the unit turned back on, I thought I was good to go. I soon realized my house was too warm and the outside unit isn’t turning on. What am I missing? Is there something I need to reset? Did I push part of the clog further into the line somewhere? Everything I Google tells me something like “clean the fins” or “the”
“Today when my AC unit tried kicking on it did not run, I noticed this after the houses temperature started climbing after the AC was still turned on, I went outside and I saw that the fan was not spinning, so I grabbed a stick and gave it a push start, after a few pushes the motor finally decided to start spinning. This leads me to believe that it could be a capacitor issue since I have had this issue in the past with my old air compressor, the start capacitor wasn’t working and I knew this as a”
“Yesterday around 5 PM, we noticed AC running but compressor fan (that big thing on the side of the house) not running. Looked at breakers - the AC breaker had flipped off. Moved breaker switch on and we heard a loud bang followed by a high-pressure hissing sound and garage started rapidly filling with a heavy mist coming from the AC unit. No fire, no smoke smell, we had 911 come out just to rule out anything hazardous, and they confirmed it wasn't fire-related. The system has been off since.”
“Hey everyone, my central AC (standard unit with a gas furnace) stopped working and I need help troubleshooting. I started by changing the air filters and letting the system thaw out, but then noticed the outdoor fan blades weren't rotating. I replaced the capacitor, which got it working for a few hours before it started blowing warm air inside again. Thinking it was a bad fan motor, I installed a new motor, and the unit ran great blowing cold air for 2–3 hours before stopping again. Now, aft”
“About two weeks ago I returned home to find the house warm with the A/C fan blowing but the outside unit not running. I found a breaker had tripped. I reset it and the unit began cooling but about three days later it tripped again. Long weekend ahead I reset it and again it started cooling. I planned to call someone but let it go and it has been running fine for more than a week now. I thought perhaps one of the many thunderstorms in my area had tripped the breaker but this is a fifteen year old”
“AC unit periodically won't kick on at the set temp, I'll flip the breaker off, wait for 10 seconds, and flip it back on then it will start back up just fine. When it won't start up, it shows an error code for locked rotor. I'm planning on replacing the capacitor, but just wanted to see if there are any other thoughts about what it could be. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/glutes4thesloots [link] [comments]”
“We had our ac spinning but not blowing cold so we swapped both capacitors. Still not cold so we swapped contactor. After the contactor swap the blades stopped spinning completely. We tried 3 different contactors and not working still. Is there something weird or wrong here that anyone can see that we can’t. submitted by /u/AbbieNorrmal [link] [comments]”

“I’ve tried cleaning it, making sure there’s no blockages, checking the wires and the breakers. I’ve even replaced the run capacitor and nothing seems to have changed. From what I can see it all looks fine. It is getting power and clicks when the thermostat is set to cool. Any helpful insight and advice would be really appreciated. submitted by /u/PakThePackrat [link] [comments]”
“I have a LG split AC of 15 years old and it was working fine. Today few hours ago when i turn on the AC the led of the AC turns on for a second then turns off. I can see the stabiliser showing red light means current is passing through the stabiliser. As it is night I cant check the outdoor unit. Can anyone tell me what might be the possible issue ? submitted by /u/amritranjan [link] [comments]”
