“The new floor I am buying is the only one similiar to the existing ones. I still have the original floor in other area and I had to search for the similiar ones. Will I have any issue to get depreciation check?”
“The main level of our house (built in 1994) has real wood flooring, but the living room is carpeted. The whole level is sort of a circle, so the living room gets lots of traffic (we have 2 adults, a toddler, 2 large dogs, and a cat in the home). Our current carpet is awful (the…”
Several homeowners are surprised by the wide range in cost estimates for hardwood floor replacement, with differences of $3600 between quotes from recommended businesses. The discrepancies seem to stem from choices like slot versus traditional installation methods.

“Moved into childhood home. Have to replace some flooring. Kitchen is 70s linoleum. At end of room, living area with carpet that is ruined. Excuse the mess-we just moved in! My first thought is I would like all the same floor, which has me leaning towards laminate here & bedrooms & porcelain tile in bathrooms. I also am interested in bamboo or hardwood (then what to do in kitchen) and do I want to break up this room. I’ve researched for months and it seems like nothing is great. I need ea”
“I’m currently choosing wood flooring for my home with a strict budget of $3,000 . If you were in my shoes, would you go for Solid Hardwood or Engineered / High-End Laminate Wood ? submitted by /u/adamjohntony [link] [comments]”
“I’m getting about half my house replaced, which is over 800 square feet. I’ve gotten rid of some big pieces of furniture like my couch and my step daughter’s bed so the rest of the furniture should be pretty simple. We need the carpet removed and we have some laminate in the kitchen that I don’t know if they just go over it or remove it. I’m looking for something good that will last since I have pets and kids. How much should I expect to pay per square foot for materials and labor? Is it worth i”

“I work in flooring in Brisbane, so I’m looking at this from the supplier side. A cheaper quote can be a perfectly good deal — the main thing is checking that both quotes cover the same work. submitted by /u/Powerful_Guitar_590 [link] [comments]”

People ive talked to have given mixed advice regarding how much humidity actually damages engineered hardwood and I cant seem to get a straight answer. I have a whole house humidifier that keeps the house between about 30%-40% in the winter. Summer the house gets between 50%-60% We also plan on getting a mini golden d”
“What cost range should I expect (NE USA) for a 25 x 25 ft room if done DIY (for materials), and if hiring a flooring pro? Is there a type of tile or brand you recommend? submitted by /u/wildswalker [link] [comments]”
“I bought a new home two months ago and put carpet in two of the rooms (~300sqft). I'm now finishing the rest of the floors (~600sqft) and will be adding 1/2" plywood to the existing 3/4" subfloor to make it very sturdy in high traffic areas. The carpet is about level with the finished flooring so while I could leave them as is the subfloor would have two different heights (3/4" under carpet and 1 1/4" under laminate). How difficult would it be to pull up the carpet a corn”

“Hey all, we ripped up the carpet and the hardwood underneath needs replacement. Roughly 480-500 square feet according to the guys that have quoted us. We’ve had 3 quotes so far and I was kind of surprised by how different the quotes came in. One was $4500 One was $7100 One was $8000 All three from businesses that came recommended, all have good reviews, etc. As far as I can tell, the only differences between the $4500 and the $8000 was 1. the guy quoting me $8000 said he’d use slots instead of h”
