“Hello. I’ve been trying to get the pressure back up in my house heating system. As you can see on the gauge, I don’t have a lot of pressure left in my water heater system around the house. MAIN PROBLEM: Lack of pressure/water in boiler Now, my specific issue is that I don’t seem to find out why it’s not filling up. I follow the line and everything seems to be following itself fine to the boiler. Yet, when I open the water to the city (red valve next to blue tubing), I don’t hear anything moving”
“I have a medical office building about 3500 square feet. We are having episodes of water pressure dropping when (for example) a toilet is flushed, the sink is running - the water flow in the sinks trickles away until the toilet refills. Then the water flow in the sink goes back to normal. We had the pressure regulator replaced last week, thinking that was the problem. Any suggestions of what else may be going on? I will call the plumber back, but in the meantime I was curious if anyone had any o”
“You guys were a help last time, but the problem persists! Here's my situation: New house, shower was not hot and not good pressure. I researched a bit and thought it was the cartridge. Old one was junky and so I did replace it, and the showerhead with a spare unused new one I had. 24 hours of trying to get the cartridge in, I went and got the off-brand and it popped in fine w. plenty of plumbers lube. Had the best shower of my life! But then it started screaming. SCREAAAMing when I turned th”
“bought a house, laundry sink wasn’t connected had hoses but the threads of the hose connector don’t meet the threads of the supply (too shallow). bought new hoses still the same issue. thought connecting a few hoses would be easy. any help is appreciated. both hoses tried were 3/8 for supply connection. submitted by /u/White-milk [link] [comments]”
“We have a new build that isn’t even 4 years old. We came back from a vacation last June to a cold shower in the primary and still haven’t found a solution. No other issues or heating issues with water with the rest of the home. Navien water heater with Moen fixtures. Has anyone ever experienced this issue or something similar and found a resolution? We have had multiple plumbers out to assess. Now they are telling us “we can try this part and just charge you the part fee and if that isn’t it, it”
“The odds of there being an equal obstruction to both hot and cold would rule out anything deeper to me. The fact that hot and cold are equal rules out the cartridges.”
“Hi everyone, I’m calling in a plumber to investigate, but I wanted to understand how bad this situation is. After a long shower (upstairs), I discovered my downstairs shower had filled up and overflowed in to the bathroom. I cleaned up and let the water drain. The next day, when the washing machine was in use, I noticed the toilet in the bathroom was gurgling and the water level in the shower drain creeped up and started to fill up (but fortunately not overflow the shower stall). The family is o”
“(That’s washer cycle starting in the background that sounds more like water spraying) The clicking sound is the water heater behind this wall. Moved into an apartment and my water heater makes loud sounds anytime I flush toilet, run washer, sink, etc. i had a friend say it wasn’t normal so I put in maintenance request. Maintenance decided to replace for new water heater but after a week, it’s still making the same loud sounds. Now maintenance says that it’s normal sounds. So yeah I’m confused. W”
“It a swivel spray kitchen sink aerator. Had to find one for a customer once. Looks like yours is fip ie it threads onto the faucet.”
“Hi! My shower isn’t heating up like the faucets in my house. I’ve been looking at instructions for adjusting the scald protection in the shower. However, there is no place for an Allen wrench, nor is there a cap that comes off anywhere. Does anyone know how to open up this specific model? submitted by /u/Burketaj [link] [comments]”
“You might have a cross connection. If you have any single handle fixtures (shower or sink for instance) the cartridge could have gone bad and be allowing cold water into the hot lines. Is the issue happening all over the house, or is he water hotter in one area?”
“I don’t mess with the plumbing a lot, and don’t want to start buying random things that need to be replaced. There is this constant dripping noise that I can’t quite pinpoint?I think I have an idea of what it could be , but maybe get feedback from those of you who have more experience, thanks ! submitted by /u/hiamanon1 [link] [comments]”
“I’ve always had low water pressure in my old bathroom faucet and I recently changed it out. The cold water has great pressure. The hot water was a dribble. Then it came out strong for a day. It has gone back to a low stream. I only replaced the faucet and not the hoses but I did rinse them out and ran water through them. The T in the photo branches off to a bidet and the pressure is great. It must be the hose yes? submitted by /u/glensissons [link] [comments]”
“We recently got a filtered water faucet and have installed everything except for the waterline hoses. Upon connecting the feed water valve, we've noticed that for some reason it is leaking water from under the nut as shown in the red circled area.. there's a seal inside the nut and we used plumbers tape but for the life of us we just cannot get it to stop leaking from under it! Could someone please indicate what we're overlooking so we can finally get this completed?! Thank you!! ”

“Hi All! I seem to have a recurring issue with my hose. The one on the left I have plugged to the outside faucet tap. The one on the right I have attached to the hose attachment. After consistent use the hose fails, bursts out of the hose attachment due to the water pressure. Am I doing something wrong here? Should I be using two of the left attachments or use above? Several times I've cut the hose down where the rubber has expanded where the seal has expanded too far. Any advice is most welc”
“I recently had a new Water Heater with an expansion tank installed along with a new PRV. I've set them both around 65. The issue is that when a 2nd water source is being used, the water pressure is dropping significantly. Example: I flush the toilet and then turn on the sink. While the tank is filling, the sink pressure is much lower than when it's the only water source on. It happens across my house. If I turn on the spigot outside, my kitchen sink is affected. I've checked everythi”
“I can't seem to find any hose with the same threads as this. It seems like a generic faucet, I don't see any branding. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/richard_sopht [link] [comments]”
“Hi all, just moved in to a new apartment and the place, as well as the building manager, leaves a lot to be desired. The water in the kitchen sink feels significantly hotter than the shower so I’m wondering if it’s possible to adjust the shower. Also would love any info on water pressure. We do not have access to the inner workings such as the water heater submitted by /u/cat_lover33 [link] [comments]”
“"I need some advice on how to replace a leaky pipe behind my parents' washing machine. The pipe has been leaking for a while, and it's about time I fix it. The main concern is that water is leaking down onto the dryer. Any advice on how to replace it would be greatly appreciated!" submitted by /u/Level-Emu-3353 [link] [comments]”
“Please help identify the issue because my mom is stressing about it financially wise lol. To give context, it is coming from the master bedroom restroom sink. It is a pair of 2 sinks and the left one is specifically making the noise. The kitchen faucet and the 3 other restroom faucets aren’t making a noise. The noise persists even after shutting the water off. submitted by /u/Honorr [link] [comments]”

“Cross posting from /handyman I’m hooking up a portable washer to my kitchen faucet using the universal adapter that came with it. I removed the aerator and screwed the adapter onto the spout, but water is spraying/leaking right at the seam where the adapter attaches to the faucet. See video. The adapter/washer is brand new, so I don’t think it’s worn out. The rubber washer inside the adapter looks intact and seated. Could this be a thread size mismatch? Is there a way to tell which one I have /”
“My single handle faucet was hard to turn and open and close so Moen sent me a new valve and grease which I installed and it helped a little for a short time. Now they sent me a new mechanism. (Their support is unbeatable.). My question is, do I have to turn off the water to replace the mechanism above the valve. The valve stays but I will be pulling out the staple that goes through the plastic part and holds down the valve. I am thinking yes, otherwise that staple would not be there. I am hoping”
“Probably still more sediment coming out of the pipes. Take off the shower head and run the water through the pipe without it. Clean the showerhead.”
“Have a shower created in the 90s from a tub only setup, likely by some hack handymen based on the other shoddy work we've seen around this bathroom, and we are trying to understand the issue and what we might be able to do to keep pressure from gradually dropping after every fix attempt. Ideally don't want to do anything super intense as we're not ready for full reno yet but it's definitely on the 5 year plan. Here are the details: - It's a three knob control and the tub spou”
“We have an outdoor shower at our rental that is missing an adaptor to attach a shower wand. I do not know what I should be buying and would appreciate help if it's obvious. This is where the water comes out, measures at 1": Water from the main valve 1\" And this is the shower wand hose fitting 1/2". Hose to wand. 1/2\" submitted by /u/LowBo10 [link] [comments]”
“My tub faucet has been leaking for awhile now so I went to swap out the shower handle cartridge. After doing that I’m only getting hot water coming through. Cold water comes through at a trickle. I didn’t have this issue with the old cartridge. I popped the old cartridge back in and had the same issue. I tried it without a cartridge to make sure the cold water line is flowing and it is. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks submitted by /u/lon”
“I moved into a house with a Bostingner thermostatic shower system. The water is very difficult to keep at a constant temperature. Instead, it tends to swing to an extreme - either way too hot or way too cold. The temperature setting on the dial seems to have no bearing on the temperature of the water coming out of the shower head. I know, from touching the red and blue pipes that feed the shower system that there is cold water coming in through the red pipe and hot water coming in through the bl”
“Yup it's been a couple years and they sound "normal" now. More and more muted/grey noise instead of sharp new. I think the mineral build up makes them sound quieter ...”
“I know this thread is old but just installed 2 new bathroom faucets and both do the same thing. When barely opening them make a loud vibrating/rushing sound that gets eliminated as soon as it is fully open. Is it just a Moen thing?”
“I have a Moen single-handle kitchen faucet. The handle and outer sleeve keep sliding away from the faucet body. I can push the sleeve and handle back into place, but as soon as I move the handle, the sleeve loosens/slides out again submitted by /u/michaelli1991fly [link] [comments]”
“Hello all, A bit out of my element, trying to replace a new faucet in a bathroom, and as such discovered the very poor plumbing job done by the previous owner which I'm amazed held on as long as it did. Anyway... Long story short is I have the drain pipe for the sink as a copper pipe entering the back wall of the photo at a right angle. On it has male threads (threads on the outside of the pipe). The threads measure at 1.65" OD with my calipers. The "kit" I got from the hardwa”
“I want to connect a portable dishwasher to my bathroom faucet, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if this is possible with the faucet I have since it has a hidden aerator. My goal is to be able to connect the dishwasher in the evening, let it run overnight, and then be able to quickly disconnect it and replace the aerator in the morning so it can be used as a regular bathroom sink during the day. Is this achievable with this faucet? Do I need to worry about a reduced flow rate from a ba”
“Went to check on my parent’s house while they’re on vacation. No hot water and their tank is… heavy flow. I turned off the house water supply, and moved the gas arrow switch to “off” but is there anything further I need to do before the plumber comes tomorrow morning? 😅 submitted by /u/Afraid_Ad_9279 [link] [comments]”
“Looking for a sanity check from anyone who knows plumbing/electrical, because I might be missing something obvious. Since this hot water issue has been going on for nearly a month, I’m going to try to break it down as neatly as possible. Set up: Apartment complex, each unit supposedly has its own system. We have a 20-gallon electric tank heater (Rheem); the vacant unit next door has a Rheem tankless electric heater. According to the landlord, the main water line comes in from across the street,”
“I can pretty much tell it's from the hot water switch side, or whatever it's technically called. Even when I switch it off I get that 8 to 10 second drip. The issue is I don't want a plumber coming into my house and tearing into my basement bathroom ceiling (both our bathrooms are right up and down from each other) or drywall, I need them to find a way to fix it from the tub itself, that's absolutely what I prefer. Or even possibly just leaving it alone since it only drips every”
“My parents moved into this old bungalow. They have a boiler in the loft for the radiators and this monster in the kitchen. We have worked out the heating but cannot work out how to get hot water. Googled it and without being able to locate its name or brand we cant work it out. The little white box has a W, M and H on it. Its on H but cannot be moved to any other position. We dare not force anything. We ran the hot tap for a few mins but no hot water. Any experts there can help as the agents are”
“Dad here with kids that are taking showers that are way too long… Does anybody have a solution for this problem that involves cutting off the hot water? Is there anything that can be installed where if the water runs for a certain amount of time it just simply is cut off or has a remote to cut off the water? Any thoughts would be appreciated… submitted by /u/alrightbudgoodluck [link] [comments]”
“thanks. both hot and cold seem to have the same pressure in the shower. the sink also has the same hot and cold pressure but the pressure is a lot better here even though it’s in the same room. is there any way of fixing this or determining why the shower doesn’t get the same pressure the taps in the sink gets?”
“About last year, my shower head started dripping water when off. I called a plumber who said they needed to replace the valve/cartridge. Done. This year, about 6 or so months ago, it’s started dripping again. In these past 6 months, I’ve had plumbers come and replace the actual shower head, the valve/cartridge AGAIN, and this last time the “screws” that were in the cartridge. All of this was done at the plumbers’ suggestion of what my issue was. Here were are again, not even 4 months from my las”
“run the water for 3-5 minutes. If it doesn't cool down after 3-5 minutes, the check valve in that crossover valve might be bad. Also, the tankless water heater needs to be programmed properly.”
“I have (at least I think) is an Ariston Aquabravo Immersion tank heater. The water pressure coming out of our shower is particularly poor. I don’t believe we have a boiler and so cannot increase the pressure in the system. The taps around the house seem to have a bit better pressure. We also are on the top of a 3 floor block of flats with only a 90mm supply pipe from the network. I pressure the pressure is due to local low pressures on the network but unsure if there is anything I can do to incr”
“I live in an 11-year-old condo, and over the few years I've been here, I had been experiencing greater instability in the shower water temperature. The shower valve cartridge seems to have been the main issue. After trying and failing to clean it, I finally replaced it. The issue is now about 95% better – the temperature went from wildly unstable to perfectly stable most of the time. But only most of the time. During about one in five showers, about 10-15 minutes into the shower, the tempera”

“In past experiences, and talking to other people, we haven’t found a water heater that actually works. Is there any that people use that are reliable and work? If not, how do you limit constantly needing to go and break up ice? submitted by /u/megantron96 [link] [comments]”
“If the water heater works then you have cold water coming into your house. You have an obstruction somewhere. Start pulling supply hoses to rule out blocked hoses and cartridges and look for any closed off valves. Did this happen randomly or have you recently had plumbing work performed?”
“Alright, I am losing my mind.... Had a slow drip for the last two weeks (knew it was going to need replaced) Thursday wife let's me know it's gone from a drip to a constant slow stream. The house was built in 2022, we have really hard water. I went ahead and replaced the cartridge and lubed the two black gaskets + O ring. Installed fully. Now... It's a slow drip again... Did some more research, cleaned the valve body with vinegar and toothbrush, brushed and then purged with water mai”

“New house, faucet leaking under kitchen sink. Sucks it wasn’t caught in the inspection but too late now. Origin of the leak/drip is the white plastic fitting that connects the faucet to the water line. Anyone know what it’s called? Faucet pic included for reference. Also does anyone have any good ideas for removing the bottom of the cabinet to investigate the extent of the damage? Mainly how would you take out the bottom and/or sides of the cabinet to investigate and put it back to look like nor”
