“I got a Delta shower pan and tub enclosure from Lowe’s and I’ve just unpacked it and it seems pretty flimsy to me. I’m a little worried about longevity. Curious if anyone has any insight on it? “My husbands shower had very little pressure so he changed the whole shower part to a new one. But now whenever we turn the hot water knob past a certain point (not enough for hot shower) the pipes shake REALLY loud even through the kitchen sink on the other side of the house. But every other tap is fine when we turn on the hot water. We've done the turn mains on, drain all the taps and turned it back on but it's still the same. Not the shower head as I removed that and turned it”

“Recently replaced my Kohler shower's pressure balance unit and pressure mixer (RGP77759) and pressure balance unit (GP800820) with a generic Everbilt unit(HD did not have Kohler parts). The installation went smoothly until the final step of putting the original faceplate and screws back on. While the bottom screw goes in perfectly, the top screw catches the threads but quickly bottoms out as if it is suddenly too long, leaving the faceplate loose. These are the original screws and plate(see”

“Hopefully this is the right place to post this There is a weird water pressure issue in both showers of my house, it usually starts off fine but then starts to wane in pressure, sometimes so much so that barely anything water trickles out. Some days it takes a few minutes to start trickling, other days just a few seconds (before the water is even warmed up). The duration of normal water pressure doesn't seem to correlate with any time of day And also, repushing the shower diverter resets it”

“Recently had a shower redone from scratch. Had the contractor install a Delta Contemporary Two Handle Monitor 17 Series Valve Trim with 6-Setting Integrated Diverter in Chrome (Model#: T27959) along with the Delta rough in body with stops. This fixture has been nothing but nightmares: The problem we're having is with the water volume handle. The handle turns 90 degrees from close to open, however, there is a massive area of dead zone where turning the handle does nothing. For example, there”

“How does it work and what do I need to buy for what I want? I am trying to set up a shower/tub set up. I want to have a shower head, a handheld shower head, and a tub spout. With that, I was told to go with a separate plate set up for the valve and diverter instead of a single plate set up (with valve and diverter in one). I was told I would get better water flow for the tub spout. So now it comes down to the tub spout which I wanted to be smooth and not have the pull knob (non diverter tub spou”

“Delta shower valve with lever is leaking and I’m having trouble determining replacement parts. (see images-“ MASCO G-13 ”) There’s a four year-old Reddit post about a similar product. It describes it as a lever handle. It’s described as fragile and to be careful taking it apart. Please chime in if you have a solution or advice. Much appreciated. “I recently fitted a new Bristan shower cartridge as my shower kept running cold. Everything was working fine for around a months and then it suddenly became quite temperamental (not fully turning off/only turning off if the temperature gauge was in a certain position before turning the handle). I have tried refitting the cartridge around 50 times) using the fitting manual and I’ve had no luck. When the carriage valve is open the water continuously runs, when I close the cartridge valve manually”

“Hey guys, I have a dripping shower head. I’ve changed cartridges in deltas and moens before, but I can’t figure out how to get this damn thing apart to see what kind of cartridge I need. It’s an old American Standard valve, but I don’t really see anything similar to it in my searching. Does anyone recognize it and could point me in the right direction? “Agree. Gauges are typically more accurate in the middle range. The glycerin (or I've seen silicone as well) fill will slightly decrease the accuracy but will help to protect the internals of the gauge from violent pressure spikes such as water hammer. The decrease in accuracy is so small that it will never matter when it comes to your household plumbing. And a good quality gauge is a must (for me anyway), I prefer Ashcroft over everything else.”

“My shower cartridge seems to have a blockage. It's not the shower head because it's still low pressure with it removed. I have unscrewed the handle, removed the set screw, and tried pouring both CLR and white vinegar in the set screw hole. I still can't get the piece closer to me to pull off. I would like some suggestions from you seasoned professionals as to what I'm doing wrong or other things to try. Thank you all in advance for your time! Edit: Mission accomplished!! I added”

“Almost every time we turn on the shower and put the handle right in the middle between hot and cold, a pulsing sound can be heard and the water comes out like there is air in the system. Plumber recommends replacing cartridge which is easy enough but also suggest pipes could be lose which would require cutting into bedroom wall if he can’t secure the pipes after removing the fixtures from the bathroom side. To complicate things, the house flippers glazed over the fixtures which would require cut”

“Universal Delta cartridge? I want to see that because I don't think that means what you think it means. It means its "universal" to series 13/14 shower bodies which are the ones they make now.. “[SOLVED] I am replacing my shower cartridge but I cannot get the new one to fit. The original was a Delta Monitor with cartridge RP19804 (old) version that was manufactured before 2006. At this point I have purchased 2 new RP19804 cartridges (now with a blue base) and neither fit. “I want to replace the cartridge and get a new valve trim kit for my shower, but I cannot figure out the brand. I imagine it's some older builder-grade kit. The showerhead was a cheap Waterpik, so that's no help. I don't want to shut off the water and pull the cartridge just yet (as I kinda want to make sure I'm going to find something to replace it with first). Any ideas? “I've had two different plumbers try to address this issue, where water comes out from the tub spout and shower arm at the same time. Initially they both though it was the diverter , so that was replaced, then they thought it was faucet cartridge, so that was replaced. Obviously neither option worked. I'm almost certain all the piping is copper and not PEX, but I can't be certain, as I can not see anything when the cartridge was removed. The faucets are Kohler. We have 4 bathrooms, an”

“Why would they route the tub fill through the diverter instead of using the dedicated tub fill outlet that has a gpm of 6.0? Instead they've routed it through the diverter with weird pathing and now my flow is severely restricted. It will take 3x as long to fill the tub up. Also the main valve is installed upside down. If you zoom in, there is a black UP that is upside down.. I'm not crazy right? This is a mess up. The problem is the wall is totally finished so now they will have to cut”

“Hi guys, I’m visiting parents and their shower in the basement has some issues. There’s a sizeable leak when both the hot and cold knobs are turned off (small constant flow instead of drops). Also when either knob is turned on the water doesn’t increase like normal, just a slightly bigger stream. The rest of the house is fine. We did have to replace washers multiple times in the past, but never had no increased flow when the knobs are on. I don’t have plumbing experience, so I was wondering what”

“This knob that moves the water from the main shower head to the detached one is broken. It was almost jammed shut and wouldn’t let me turn it, I managed to turn it some but water is coming out of both heads with no change I don’t think. So maybe the internal mechanism is broken, should I try to take it off and see? If so how? thank ya! submitted by /u/Organic-Hawk5377 [link] [comments]”

r/PlumbingSep 2

“Regardless of whether it is increased pressure or flow rate you need, then you need to give us more info. Where does the hot come from?……. Is it a combination boiler? Is it a tank fed, gravity system? Is it a mains pressure cylinder? Noone can help without that info. You could also measure the current flow rate by timing how long it takes to fill a 1litre jug. That along with the above info would allow informed advice rather than just ‘remove the flow restrictor’.”
