“New homeowner here and honestly just trying to figure out what’s reasonable. I booked one of those $49 air duct/HVAC cleaning deals today. Once the technician inspected everything, he told me that what he was seeing was mold and that the basic cleaning wouldn’t be enough. He…”

“Is this a good quote for an american standard single stage HVAC system? We feel like it is high but arent sure what a normal price range should be. We originally scheduled to have the install next week but after asking around it seemed like most people thought we were being over…”

“I just got quotes new furnace at $4,500 , 10 manufacture warranty, 5 year labor warranty. Is this good? I also got a second quote for Trane $3,869. 10 year warranty, 1 year labor warranty. Is this good?”

Homeowners are expressing concern about high labor costs associated with HVAC repairs, specifically citing a $600 labor charge for replacing a zone damper actuator. This suggests a potential disconnect between homeowner expectations and technician pricing, particularly during peak season.

“Honeywell M847D damper motor and Honeywell HZ322 board. Am I crazy or is that crazy? That’s like $350 for parts, ok assume a 20%-ish markup and it’s $450. Probably takes 45 minutes tops to install both. The labor here is $3,000 an hour? Maybe I’m stupid but that seems outrageous. And I get it, you don’t pay the guy to do the thing, you pay the guy to know how to do the thing. But 3 grand for an hour of labor seems a little much. Am I wrong? submitted by /u/OleNorthLamar [link]”

“The compressor to my house broke last week. We have home warranty and I am getting a quote for about $1000 from the repair company to redo the copper pipes as well as the electrical wiring for the new compressor. I have a Goodman two stage compressor that apparently one stage was never turned on. Just bought my house earlier this year. AC is about seven years old. I know my AC still has replacement parts available so why would they need to be adjusting the connections or am I getting a generic c”

“New homeowner here and honestly just trying to figure out what’s reasonable. I booked one of those $49 air duct/HVAC cleaning deals today. Once the technician inspected everything, he told me that what he was seeing was mold and that the basic cleaning wouldn’t be enough. He said they would need to do a much deeper cleaning/remediation of the HVAC/duct system, supposedly around 6 hours of work , and quoted me roughly $600–700 . The problem is that the mold wasn’t actually tested or independently”

“For context, this guy called me around 7:30pm and asked me to come out and fix his AC, I was out to dinner with family and told him I can be there in an hour. Arrived at 8:30pm, did my diagnostic, found the cap to be bad. Told him that it’s gonna be $400 to replace since it was after hours, mind you his house was 82 degrees inside so I knew that they definitely needed their AC fixed. He was shocked at the price, hesitated to move forward but ended up agreeing to the repair. Got it done, AC fired”

“Hey everyone, it is looking like my dampers are not working and need to be replaced, and I just need some help identifying what is a reasonable price for this. The specific model that would be needed: https://www.acdirect.com/honeywell-10-automatic-round-damper-ard10?srsltid=AfmBOoqEOgdaKyWZ6w036m0ca9vE4iNjbAh-oynldWyQnx74z8Y-SaZc There are 3 in total - one 10inch damper (the one linked above), and two 12inch dampers. The quote I received is $580 for each of the 12inch ones, and $533 for the 10i”

“I have a York HMH72B601S 5-ton heat pump with indoor coil XAHHD60JBGN1A . The HVAC company says the TXV is bad and quoted about $4,000 to replace it. Does that sound reasonable, or is that unusually high? I am in SE PA. TIA 😎 submitted by /u/mr_chonkmeister [link] [comments]”

“tl;dr Brand new system still not functioning correctly and installation company is being non-responsive I was hoping I'd never have to post something like this, but I need help figuring out what to do next. My fiancee and I are brand new first time home-owners. We closed on April 1st and knew before closing we had to replace the HVAC. So I had quotes lined up ready to go, and we went with a company that was recommended by a friend. For background on the property, it's a two story townhou”
