“Does the hosing setup on this recent hvac install look ok or would it be acceptable to push the issue and request that it be redone so that it is a little more flush/out of the way? Seems like it would be in the way of any electric/gas tech, or cable line running, etc.”
“Great idea. Thank you for the reply! [re: Exhaust from heat pump.]”
“Is this a good layout? I’m having a new 2.5 ton heat pump and air handler installed soon. I’ve noticed my ductwork may be a bit undersized. It’s a 20 year old system and it works, it’s just time to replace it before it goes out. The new system is supposed to handle 988 CFM on…”
New HVAC technicians encounter unfamiliar exhaust systems and questionable installations, demonstrating a lack of standardization and potential safety concerns.

It’s a 20 year old system and it works, it’s just time to replace it before it goes out. The new system is supposed to handle 988 CFM on turbo. “We are going to get a new heat pump but before we do I want to fix the tilted pad/foundation. My question is, is this something I can reasonably ask an HVAC company to do (dig the earth out, anchor the board to the wall, refill)? Or should I ask another outfit like a handyman or contractor? All advice appreciated. Thanks. https://preview.redd.it/bi5cctjwy1vh1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88db7d3dc29ed11034242973182d348b6b5bd016 https://preview.redd.it/shbmxd1zy1vh1.jpg?widt”

“I’m redoing my HVAC with an ACIQ 3 ton r32 system. I knew my ductwork was messed up from the previous owners, but I am hitting a beam (literally) and lost on the best way to proceed. The best option would be to redesign the structure of the roof so there is no beam there, yet that might not be in the budget. It seems like a structural engineer will have to draft plans before any modifications take place. (Changing the rafters is not something I will DIY). Some of my rooms got barely any airflow,”
“Transition thingy goes from the hvac unit to the chimney on the roof, any way to make it more flush to the ceiling/less bulky? Also can I paint it? submitted by /u/madnorr [link] [comments]”

“I have a very difficult location of an 18" return line that is a bit squeezed, i have a pain in the butt carrier infinity system that keeps staging down due to static pressure. in order for me to route any more return air, one hvac person said to cut the drywall against the garage with the laundry room on the opposite side, and put a return air grill/duct there. now that laundry room does have a supply and most of the time the laundry room stays open. any concerns ? i was thinking maybe sou”
“how’d I do? Suggestions/recommendations before I mount it and hook it up to a diy radiant floor heating manifold. My only concern is that in the limited space i have, I tried putting the air separator below the water heater and the expansion tank zig/zags to the top where I feel like air could/will trap. 8kW Vevor heater, 10GPM pump, #15 expansion tank (not seen), LOTS of sweat fittings where i probably should have done combo fittings. all In ~ $570 submitted by /u/Professional-Rip83”
“We signed a quote for a 3 ton 27vna3 heatpump and 4 ton FE5B air handler with the SYSTXCCITC01-C thermostat. I have a fresh intake which is basically just a zone actuator which wires to the existing single stage AHU there now (24v). So whenever the blower comes on, it opens that vent to whatever setting I have it physically set to. They put in the quote they would connect it, but I question how it can be connected. AI indicates that there may be a terminal on the thermostat that it can go to, bu”
“Hey! I got an Aprilaire 720 humidifier but i’m not 100% sure where it should be installed on the furnace. Unfortunately i can’t add it to the duct above it (no room) but i was thinking on the sides. I know my furnace has the inverted V shaped coils below the control board (model TEM6A0C42H41SAA) but i’m not sure if i’m supposed to put it on the duct itself or whether i can attach it directly to the unit. I had AI generate two options (ignore the cruddy simulation, it’s just to visualize my optio”
“I have a 5-ton Carrier Infinity system serving three zones, including a bonus room above the garage. I’m trying to resolve ongoing airflow and static pressure issues. Based on measurements with a manometer and the duct calculations I’ve done so far, I suspect a restriction in the return path, particularly the 18-inch trunk between the return box and riser. I’m looking into whether that trunk needs to be enlarged, but I’d also like to evaluate putting the bonus room on its own system. The separat”
“we had an old oil furnace removed several years ago and a dual heat pump/propane furnace installed. they used the return ducting from the oil furnace for the heat pump. or so i thought... was just down in the basement earlier today replacing a filter, poked around a bit more than usual and on the back side (it sits up fairly close to a wall) facing away from the main basement room is a large 18" square grate on the backside of the return, just before the filter. there is a connection to the”
