“I know this may have been asked a lot but I can't find a definitive answer. Some people say the current card is immediately invalid once the new card is printed, even if I haven't received it yet. Some people say there's a 60-day period where I can still use my current card. My…”

I have not returned to Canada since then. I have since settled down in India and have decided that I will continue my life here. My PR card is still valid and expires on December 21, 2027, and I have the physical PR card with me. I understand that, given how long I have been outside Canada, I may not meet the 730-da”
“I am a PR for more than 5 years. I left Canada last July 2024 to work abroad. I will be returning this October 2026 with an unexpired card. Based on my computation, from October 2021 to October 2026 (last 5 years), I have stayed inside of Canada for more than 730 days. Based on people's actual experiences in similar situations, what questions were you asked by the immigration officers when you entered Canada? Were you allowed inside without any issues? Did they require you to provide documen”
“I’m a U.S. citizen and also a Canadian permanent resident, but my PR card is expired. I applied for a PRTD and was approved, but I need to travel to Canada this weekend and won’t have enough time to send my passport in and get it back before the trip. Has anyone here who is a U.S. citizen/Canadian PR flown to Canada using their U.S. passport while their PR card was expired? I’m mainly curious about what happened when you arrived in Canada and went through CBSA . Were you sent to secondary? Any i”
“I'm looking for recent experiences with PR card renewal involving H&C considerations because the 730-day residency obligation was not met. A little background: I became a Canadian PR in 2019 and stayed in Canada for about 7 months. I left Canada in early 2020 and was subsequently outside Canada for approximately 6 years, due to the combination of the COVID and terminal cancer and prolonged treatment. I have since recovered, returned to Canada, and obtained a PRTD approved on H&C grou”

“Hi everyone, I’m preparing to submit a PR card renewal application for my mother and would appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation. Her situation: Became a Canadian permanent resident in Dec 2021. Current PR card expires in April 2027. Has been physically present in Canada for approximately 764 days since becoming a PR so satisfies the residency days requirement. She has always lived at home with me as a PR whenever she is in Canada. My main concern is the residency obl”

“My grandma recently came back to US with green card after 7 years. Because she’s not actively using her green card status, customs advised us to forgo her green card status the next time she comes back and switch to visa instead. We are going to Canada and planning to forego it with the form completed upon our return through customs from the article linked here . With that being said, is she still able to travel to Canada with her passport and green card? It still hasn’t expired but I’m not sure”

“I lost my PR card recently and had to travel to the US urgently. I was planning to cross back into Canada using my COPR (I've done this before) through the land border in Buffalo but I just realized that my COPR has expired. Waiting for a PRTD is going to take too long. Will I have any problems entering Canada through the land border? I can carry extra documentation if needed. submitted by /u/Murky_Introduction10 [link] [comments]”
“My wife is a permanent resident and her PR card will be expiring in the next couple of months, however we had booked a trip to Japan to visit her family in October. Would she be able to apply for a renewal prior to us going on the trip? I tried to look online and on the Canada website and wasn't really finding any answers. Google did give me some AI answers like Canada won't send the card to an international address and we can travel while waiting for renewal but then the current card wo”

“Hi everyone, Due to an urgent matter, I need to travel outside Canada and will return on Sept 10, 2026. My PR card expires on Sept 12, 2026, and I applied for renewal on August 30. My return flight includes a 3-hour transfer at Incheon Airport, South Korea. Since my PR card will still be valid when I board my flight and enter Canada. Could I face any issues with the airline during my transfer at Incheon Airport, or when I arrive at the Canadian border at the airport? Because it expires only 2 da”
