“Hi everyone! Bonjour! Im French born in 2008. Wondering about whether I could qualify for Canadian citizenship (especially under the law changes of December 2025). I have Canadian ancestors on my paternal side (possibly as far back as my great or great great grandparents though Im not exactly sure). My surname is Québécois but other than that I know very little about my family history. My dad confirmed that my paternal family (well our) is Canadian. “Hello, I'm working on filling out my Canadian Citizenship application. I have two questions about the section "Have you ever held immigration status in a country or territory other than Canada?". Do I need to fill in the start and end dates of my status, or only the dates I was actually in that country? So for example, if I had a tourist visa for a certain country for 3 months, do I use the start and end dates of the validity of that visa, or just the 2 weeks I was actually there?”

“Hi Everyone, I am applying for my Canadian Citizenship and I need some help on this section Do you currently, or have you ever held immigration or citizenship status in a country or territory other than Canada (this includes your country of birth)? So I am Indian born (I have an Indian birth certificate). I left India at the age of around 2 and moved to Mauritius. I am not and never was a citizen of India. I have only been a Mauritian citizen my whole life (I have only had a Mauritian passport).”

“I applied in Ontario to change my first name after submitting my citizenship application, primarily because I want to be able to use my preferred name on my first Canadian passport. Now that both applications are near being finalized, I wonder how this would work? Specifically: - Could it complicate the citizenship application if I notify IRCC well before oath about the name change? This is the part that worries me the most, especially if it can complicate the prohibition / background check etc.”

“BOWP withdrawn after becoming PR, but citizenship application asks for a refusal date. What should I enter? I’m completing my Canadian citizenship application and I’m stuck on the temporary residence section. Before becoming a PR, I applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit because my work permit was going to expire. I then became a permanent resident before IRCC processed the BOWP. IRCC later withdrew the BOWP application because I had already received PR. So the BOWP was never approved or refuse”

“Hi All! I want to see if I have completed 1,095 physical days in Canada or not. I went to the calculator and added in the details. I have a few questions about the days/timeline I have added as a International student and then as a Temporary worker holding a PGWP. Below are the timelines/dates for reference Eligibility period is 2021-09-18 to 2026-09-17 (calculated it yesterday https://imgur.com/a/YnjdydK ) Become PR (using back of PR Card) : 05 Mar 2024 Student Visa on Passport : 29 Jul 2019 -”

“Hello! I am currently in the process of getting together all the paperwork for my Canadian citizenship application. I submitted my PR application (through FSWP Express Entry) back in early 2024. Looking through my old screenshots now, I realize I included in the address history section various places I had stayed temporarily, such as hotels. Now, the citizenship application also has an address history section. Should I enter the details here to match what I had submitted as part of my PR applica”

“Hi - I was wondering if anyone has any reference points, or success stories, about how far back in your ancestry you can go in order to successfully claim Canadian citizenship under Bill C-3. From my own research so far, I’m having a hard time getting clarity, and the attorneys I’ve reached out to (of course) tend to want to do a paid up front consultation for a couple hundred dollars. I’m hoping to just get a sense of, assuming we can get proper documentation for our situation, will it even “co”

“Hello dear Canadians, I am currently staying outside Canada, I have fulfilled my days and ready to submit my Citizenship application. Is it safe/legal to start and submit citizenship application outside Canada/US? Or should I fly back to Canada and start/submit my citizenship application? Note: I know it sounds awkward that I haven’t submitted as I already fulfilled the date requirements but it happened… submitted by /u/djangocuAli [link] [comments]”

I also come from a country with a pretty weak passport, so having Canadian citizenship would give me a lot more freedom and options for my future. The problem is that I’ve been struggling with depression for a while and haven’t been able to work for months. The only type of work I’ve really been able”

“Hi everyone, I became eligible for Canadian citizenship last week and have met the 1,095-day physical presence requirement. For those who applied recently, how long did you ideally wait after your eligibility date before creating the online account and submitting the application? I have double-checked my travel dates, but I’d like to keep a reasonable safety buffer. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Ben892024 [link] [comments]”

“Hi all, we’ve just started looking into applying for Canada citizenship for my husband through is grandfather who was born in Canada in the 1920s. We have all the certificates and are ready to apply. He’s a uk train driver and I work in admin. We’re both 50. We have a teenager in college who then wants to pursue a degree in environmental science and is interested in studying in Canada. Is it hard to be accepted when you’re older? We have savings we could move with and are both keen to still work”

“Hello, hoping to clarify my understanding on this. Wife and I are Canadian citizens (one by birth and one naturalized 2.5 yrs ago) and will be giving birth outside Canada next year. When the baby is around 1-1.5 yrs old we are planning to return to Canada. It looks like we would apply for a citizenship certificate (proof of citizenship) rather than a citizenship grant, as our child would be eligible for citizenship from birth (or is technically already a citizen?). I see that the processing time”

“Hi everyone, My family and I are currently living in Oman, and we’re considering moving to Canada in the future. I’m trying to understand the realistic pathway from moving to Canada → getting PR → eventually becoming Canadian citizens . Our situation: Me: 18 years old and currently completing my education. My mom: Has been living in Oman for around 10 years and has approximately 8 years of professional experience in the salon/beauty industry . She also has a business background in Oman. My siste”

“I recently applied for citizenship and it says processing time is about 12 months. Thing is I want to go on a trip same time next year. Has anyone received their citizenship notification while you’re on a trip abroad? Can you reenter Canada with your PR card and do the ceremony afterwards? submitted by /u/foreverhappilysingle [link] [comments]”

“Hello, we are a french couple with a 5yo kid and we want to immigrate permanently to Quebec. We plan to apply to PSTQ. We should have a score of ~600 (570+english test results). However, we saw that this year, all PSTQ invitations where issued to people already living in Quebec, which is not our case. We looked for other way to immigrate here, but the now-reopened PEQ seems targeted to people living there already too. We are a bit lost on how we should end up living in Quebec in the first place.”

“I am a Canadian citizen born in the early 1960s, moved from Canada to Greece when I was about 10. I would like to work on getting my children their Canadian citizenship. “I will complete my one year of work experience in October, and I plan to take my French exam around the same time. I have already passed the TEF Québec once, so I am confident that I will pass it again. How should I proceed with my application? Should I move outside Quebec before applying for permanent residence, or can I apply first and move to another province later? submitted by /u/Kanu_Reeves03 [link] [comments]”

“I am about to apply for citizenship, in work history section, it asks me to provide 5 years of work history. For the past 4 years and 8 months, I have been working for my current employer from office. But before, I was working for a different company remotely from my home country. Work history page also asks for the address, should I be entering my home address with (Remote) along with my role? If so, I have moved twice when working remotely from home, so should I enter two separate entries for”

“Hi, I’m confused on the PR pathway to pursue. I have a PhD and fall under the healthcare stream. I also got married recently and my husband has a PR. I’m not sure about the PR pathway. Should I pursue spousal PR or healthcare stream? Which takes less time for processing and has less rejection rate? Edit: PhD is from Canadian university, I’m currently working at a research position and will complete one year work experience in 2 months. IELTS general overall score is 7.5 submitted by”
