“How in the heck do I do this?! Was thinking 2 pieces instead of one to make it a little easier. So far cut outs have been a bit of a nightmare.”

“Hi all, I’m not sure whether it was my responsibility to tell them which transition strip I wanted or if they should have asked me, knowing that there would be a gap between two floorings, but I guess that isn’t relevant at this moment in time. I’ve run across the problem of…”

“Whoever installed this floor seemingly intentionally left these gaps between the tiles (or whatever they're called) and it's ugly and traps dirt and stuff. Is there some sort of sealant or caulk-like substance i could use to fill the gaps like grout would do for real tiles? Obviously it would need to be somewhat flexible and not rigid like grout, and would need to be available in a color that would go well with the color of the floor. submitted by /u/FlanTravolta2 [link] ”
“You also need to drill through the tile so you can screw the flange to the floor.”

The Problem: The floor is severely crowned right down the center at 3ft. There is a high ridge running along the center seam, and the subfloor slopes down by about 7/8 inch over 3 feet on both sides toward the wall and tub (roof-peak shape). Current Status: Durock cement board has already been installed and coated with RedGard wate”

“Cut a slot along side it , bring the whole thing into line and reweld it. Also get yourself some plastic glazing packers for gauging and sanding the gaps !”
“I'm installing tile 18x18. It's looking good. However. I was walking it after the dry period and heard a hollow sound form one of the middle tiles. Do I tear it out and install a new one or let it ride and see what happens? I missed one I guess. Started to gas out since I don't do this for a living. submitted by /u/kingtchr [link] [comments]”
“Redoing our bathroom ourselves. I've pulled up some of the flooring tiles and what's left is what you see in the picture. What is the best way to remove this? submitted by /u/Coercitor [link] [comments]”

“Hi all, I’m not sure whether it was my responsibility to tell them which transition strip I wanted or if they should have asked me, knowing that there would be a gap between two floorings, but I guess that isn’t relevant at this moment in time. I’ve run across the problem of being unsure what to do. The hallway has tiles and it connects with 4 different rooms around it and all of these need transition strips. This is my first time remodelling a home and did not think of this prior, which if I di”
“Floor work just finished and I could spot a number of uneven tiles/lippage and different patterns in grout size. I was really looking forward to seeing the final result as the previous floors were awful, but I can't say I'm pleased with the job done. “Hello, I need help to make it looks somewhat decent Tile is about 3/8 to 1/2 higher across 44.5 in hallway. How do I go about cutting the transition piece at both corners? submitted by /u/yohaznn [link] [comments]”
“Okay gang, before you come at me in the comments, please read below. This tile was installed BEFORE I moved in. I recently replaced some drywall and in the process I tore out the old baseboard and shoe moulding. In doing so, I discovered that the previous home owner had installed their baseboard flush with the concrete floor, and THEN installed tile. Shoe moulding was then installed on TOP of the tile. I had to literally chisel out the baseboard in these gaps. All of that to say, I am now left w”
“Hello I have a 10.5x64 inch porcelain wood look tile I’m installing. Rectified edges. I just got this message and photo from my contractor. Can anyone help me understand if this is normal or if I should raise concern? Please “Hello again! Our tile installer just let us know that your main floor tile is recommended to be installed at a 30% offset, which would look like the image on the left. The image on the right shows the traditional brick pattern that we normally use. We are still able to inst”
“Replacing a toilet at my MIL house. The toilet has always rocked a bit and now I know why. What's the "right" way to fix this? Do we have to bust out the tile, chip away at the foundation, level it and put it all back together? If that's the case, What's a quicker way to fix and how long would that last? submitted by /u/Additional-Local8721 [link] [comments]”
“They’re a flat concrete tile, non interlocking and double lapped. Like a large rosemary tile. Completely flat on the back so all double nailed as they can’t be hooked over the batten submitted by /u/WWSStoner [link] [comments]”

“Help! I just had my tiny open galley kitchen floor retiled by a contractor. They said the adjacent wood floor was out of level and this was the best solution they could do to install the tile next to the existing wood floor. The tile is flush to the wood at one end of the kitchen, but 2” higher at the other end, with a sort of wood ramp fashioned out of trim along the length of the kitchen. Is this really the best/only way to solve this? Thanks for any insight!! submitted by /u/Appre”
“You can see where it has lifted between some of the tiles. The rest of the bathroom seems fine except here. I have a spare box of tiles. Someone fitted it a few years ago and I noticed it had a different more holo sound walking on it compared to elsewhere. How much do I need to remove and what do I do about the caulking/sealent where it meets the wall? submitted by /u/Mechabite [link] [comments]”
“Redoing a room in our home that has always had a cracked tile and missing grout since we bought it last year. Finally took off the cracked piece and... they just... glued it to the floor? Is that what I'm seeing here. If I were to remove & retile myself are there any big hurdles I'd face? submitted by /u/Easy_Owl2645 [link] [comments]”
“Mid bathroom remodel. Existing flooring, new tile. During demo, they damaged the existing transition strip. We’ve tried finding something that matches well enough and are coming up empty. The GC is suggesting they’ll find something that matches “close enough.” Thoughts on whether we should get an unfinished piece and try to stain it close? Go with something contrasting? submitted by /u/The20thKa-tet [link] [comments]”
“As you can see by the other pictures, Im well into flooring my new place, but Ive hit a road block. Not only am I lost on what to do with the transition here, but I fucked this last row HARD. Huge gap due to the tongue getting squashed, so I need it out - lost on how to do that without sawing it out. This section has made me feel like the biggest dummy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/CombinationOk4838 [link] [comments]”
