“Hi everyone, This is my very first high-end piece of jewelry. Since I bought it second-hand, I wanted to make sure that it was genuine, using a touchstone. I scratched it several times, and this appeared on the ring... ...... Is this normal? And could you please reassure me that, if I ever want to have it repaired, it can be restored to EXACTLY its original shape and that the circle can be reshaped if necessary, so that it can be 100% repaired and look like new again? Thank you! submitted”
“I recently sold a heavy anklet that I got tested as silver by het Goudkantoor here in Antwerpen. Just got a message from the buyer that it is not silver and a cheap reproduction. He asks about how to proceed, asks where he can send it back and that he contacted Paypal. I responded stating that I had let it tested as silver by said Goudkantoor but that he could send it back to me. I didn't comment on his "cheap reproduction" comment. He has not responded back since. It was an expens”
“Not looking for this group to authenticate. I'm looking for advice on how to self-evaluate gold items. I know that gold plated and gold filled items have different thicknesses of gold layers but it's literally on a microns (sub-millimeter) scale and I don't exactly have experience in that range to know the differences. I did buy a loupe so I can see better but same issue - not sure how to tell a 1micron versus 70 micron layer. I'm more than happy (and have tried) to scratch, cut,”
“Before purchasing from Bochelli Jewelry, I strongly encourage you to do your research. Please don’t buy. I purchased multiple pieces from this company after they were advertised as solid 14K gold . I have retained copies of every order, payment receipt email, and some screenshots of the original product listings showing how these items were marketed (thankfully I was smart enough to do this part smh.) I later had my jewelry independently tested, and the results showed it was not solid 14K gold a”
“After coming back home, I had it tested at two different jewellers and both said it was only around 14k gold (not 18k). I also had it appraised, and they said the buyback value would only be around $140 CAD. I recently noticed there’s a very tiny stamp that says “610” . From what I found online, 610 could mean around 15k gold (61% purity), but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. I also noticed the finish is much more yellow than other 14k gold jewelry they sell here in North America Did I get scamm”
“I saw this pendant today in Leipzig in a reputable antique store. The seller however was really short on the details and there was no tag with written information on it. When I asked about the material, he only said "gold". I probed a bit asking if it's solid gold, "yes". What type of gold? "14k". The thing is, while the pendant looked like 14k, the chain definitely wasn't - there was discoloration on it which made me think it's rolled gold and a later a”
“I’m looking to sell some stuff but trying to figure out what’s junk and what might be worth selling. I saw these marks on this necklace I own and just wanted to learn something new if anyone could educate me!! submitted by /u/drac_cute_la [link] [comments]”
“Hi there, I had sold an Art Nouveau 14k Gold ring on Feb 6th. I had acid tested this multiple times as 14k Gold. Customer said she brought it to the jeweler and they said it is not gold and they don't know what metal it is. This was about a $1000 ring. She sent a help request and wants to be refunded. I do not have the money to do this, thinking about refunding this amount makes me want to close my shop quite honestly. I wish she would have brought this to me when I still had the money. What”
“I have attempted to just call purchasers, but that is not feasible. I look through posts for hours but haven’t found a site or list. There are so many places that purchase, and I would love to see/purchase items that come in from other people. I hate to see so much being scrapped and melted when there are pieces that other people, myself included, would love to purchase! Is there a way to even be on a list to get a picture of hauls that come in? Even as a single picture of the whole load, not an”
