“At a nearby school there is a lawn which seems to self repair. Given around here in the sf east bay it's mostly tttf I was curious which grass this is as I thought it is too dry here for kbg and not warm enough for warm season grasses. submitted by /u/Holiday-Ad7262 [link] [comments]”
“Somebody on here may be smarter about it. I’m not sure, definitely st Augustine but not sure do the type.”
“Hello, I recently bought a house near Augusta, Georgia, and trying to get the yard reestablished. I plan to start spraying a pre-emergent and winter weed killer but not sure what to use due to not knowing the type of grass I have. Based on my research, I thought it might be Saint Augustine, but now I am not so sure… Any help identifying the grass and the recommended procedures to get it reestablished will be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Phill-McCock [link] [comments]”
“I’d say centipede with how pointy it is but really you should cut a piece off if it has stolons and look closely and identify. You can google “centipede grass identification” or St. Augustine or whatever”

“man it's so funny how everybody will just throw crabgrass out there. This is 100% not crabgrass. It's dallisgrass clumps.”

“Hi, is this Dallisgrass? My lawn care provider said this is Dallisgrass and there is nothing he has that treats this. I have so many in my lawn. Not sure what the best step is for this? submitted by /u/Dry_Community5749 [link] [comments]”

“Hi all. This is my first fall in my house, and I’m looking to dethatch, aerate, overseed, and plant some new grass in bare patches - the works. Google reverse image search is telling me this is St Augustine but I wanted to get second opinions, so any insight would be appreciated for this first time homeowner. Thank you! submitted by /u/LawdOfWinterfell [link] [comments]”
“Can anyone help identify what type of grass this is? Located in southern New Jersey, 7b. I've tried Google, multiple apps, and AI but I'm getting all different answers ranging from St. Augustine to KBG. I just purchased the property and I'm trying to maintain the yard but I obviously need to know what type of grass I have first. And yes I know I need a new mower blade 😂 Thank you. submitted by /u/JudgeInteresting1020 [link] [comments]”

The last photo I added seems to be something else? Thinking it could be some Bermuda, zoysia, TTTF? “I want to know how to properly care for this grass, but I have no idea what it is. Some years it looks dead, some years it's patchy and this year it looks like this. I've never seen it this full before. submitted by /u/Traditional_Boot9962 [link] [comments]”

“Definitely not barnyard grass but you are correct that it’s from the straw. Clockwise twist is typical of wheat or triticale which are the two common straw producers.”
“You know people just take that photo and put it into google image to see what it is… why don’t you do that?”

“In N. California (Bay Area). The first two pics, is that Bermuda?? The 3rd pic is Tall Fescue? The 4th pic is a totally different section of grass on the other side of my driveway. The stuff growing on the right side, is that crabgrass? Thanks in advance for your answers. submitted by /u/bmfredit [link] [comments]”
“Currently nuking and restarting my lawn. Trying to get rid of what’s left before I scarify and aerate. Looking for help identifying what’s on the surface of my soil. Moss? Fungus? Does it matter if there’s a product that kills both? The lawn pictures are in a mostly sunny section of the lawn. The last picture is in a mostly shady section of a neglected flower bed. Greater Indianapolis area. submitted by /u/have_oui_met [link] [comments]”
If you zoom in, you can see the grass is turning brown and dying.
“I’ve been struggling identifying what type of grass this is. It’s only a small section of my lawn. the rest of my lawn is a mix of bermuda and fescue. submitted by /u/BlueBerry4416 [link] [comments]”

“Lawn dads - Need some help identifying this grass. I live in WNY. It’s starting to spread across my lawn - and it’s definitely not crabgrass, at least not the common type we get? It seems to grow on rhizomes and is fairly easy to pull out of the ground. Second pic next to a clump of normal crab grass (on the right) for comparasion. I thought it might be goosegrass but it grows a little more vertical and less spread out than the pictures I see online. 🤷♂️ submitted by /u/Taco_Crisma”

Crabgrass is the least of the worries. (Yes, I know it's nutsedge)

“Hey everyone. I am in southeast Wisconsin. I have these small patches of grass that are different than the rest of my KBG lawn. I tried to get as close of a picture as I could. I originally thought this may be Sedge of some sort, but I feel like the blades don’t match. Also doesn’t seem like crabgrass. Any guesses here? Appreciate any help! submitted by /u/StefanMan4 [link] [comments]”
“I’m a lawn dad. But for some reason I can’t identify this! Have thrown crabgrass killer and tenacity at this. Is this crabgrass that won’t die or what is this variant?? Located in Southern California submitted by /u/jx686 [link] [comments]”

This grass thrives in the late summer heat in my Minneapolis suburb lawn. I'm pretty sure it's not crabgrass, but it looks pretty bad amongst my (heat-stroked) Kentucky Bluegrass. Is it some…
“Hopefully I can get some help on here about identifying what type of grass this is. I am only doing this because I have asked three lawn care companies and got three different answers. We are in West Tennessee and believe it's zone 7B. submitted by /u/NorwegianRockPython [link] [comments]”
“I've tried using a couple of AI apps but they didn't give me any results that I'm 100% confident with. I'm leaning towards Zoysia but I wanted to be sure so I don't do anything not designed for the specific grass type. TIA. https://preview.redd.it/zvnn3alniulh1.jpg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5b299464bf37227a2b1a06165ae3e3c75a52e76 https://preview.redd.it/o8yhualniulh1.jpg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d478bfea0faf04c3a744ed50d08f8f932db61”
“Is this better than certainty and celsius wg for this particular weed? I've hit this weed multiple times with this combination and it hasnt worked too well.”
Appreciate it, yea it has been average 100 here right now.
“Need help identify what I've got going on in my lawn. Based on my research I've got fine fescue, tall fescue, and maybe quackgrass? I was hoping to reseed in a few weeks after dethatching, aerating, and levelling a few low spots but I need to know what I'm working with. What would you do with this lawn? I was hoping to have a single uniform grass species but that doesn't seem reasonably possible at this point. Located in suburban Chicago submitted by /u/Apprehensive_L”
