“One of my old neighbors had one. It would finish mowing the lawn just in time to start mowing the lawn again [re: Why do I get deeper color stripes with 1 side of my mower?]”
“Yea this is the issue. My X430 doesn’t leave turn marks but most do. I don’t think running the mower matters. The razors are very gentle on the seedlings.”
“I've always found new blades to be well balanced. This would cause me to suspect the wrong blades or an installation issue.”
Several users are discussing the appearance of wheel lines on their lawns and suggesting that dull mower blades are the likely cause. Some users offer solutions like sharpening or replacing the blades, while others make humorous comments about the situation.

“I tried that but doesn’t line up. I agree with washer. I thought id ask here before going to Homedepot and get smaller washer. [re: Is this the correct replacement blade for my Murray mower? Original is flat but replacement is curved]”
“Mowers need sharp blades, an engine that runs, and 4 wheels typically. Everything else is just fluff [re: Mowers: what are 'must haves' and 'need to haves'?]”

“I can’t seem to figure this out for the life of me. One wheel (left side) makes great contact and nice deep/light lines. The other side not so much. So it makes it look. Like I have thin lines in my grass. I’ve checked everything I can think of, tire pressure, cutting height, deck angle, new blades, overlap / width I’m mowing at, and tried opening and closing the mulch gate. In Ohio for what it’s worth, using a John Deere z335E. any help would be appreciated. submitted by /u/Imonmyph”
Find someone on FB marketplace to sharpen them who will come to you
“Ask in your neighborhood facebook group if uncomfortable and offer a 6 pack of beer.”
“Well an angle grinder comes in handy if your blade is seriously beat up. Also power tools are fun they make sparks. It's also extremely satisfying to see the nice shiny edge that a grinder gives you.”
“If you're handy with tools and mechanical stuff and you have a torque wrench, file (or grinder) and some scrap wood laying around, you'll be able to figure it out using online resources such as historical posts in this subreddit. If you want some peace of mind and you want to avoid risk of injury/damage, then you can pay to have your mower serviced (I'm sure you can find someone that comes to you). I suggest this route because you're an average 55 year old woman.”
“This is my first zero turn. Ill spare you all the other crap I was going to write, but when keeping my mower as straight as possible and trying to cut deck to deck, I'm noticing some strange pattern. Is it time to change my blade or is my salad lawn just creating this illusion? I'm cutting at 4" on a zt3000 submitted by /u/CLdoubleU [link] [comments]”
“Sharpen your blades, raise mower height, add a custom homedepot built roller for stripes and mow twice a day”
“It just metal file and the mower sideways. I have this… friend who does that and I, I mean he swears it works great and is easier and faster.”
“What’s the trick to keeping the lines straight? I have a Ryobi 20” push mower with the big league roller.”
“Yea this is the issue. My X430 doesn’t leave turn marks but most do. I don’t think running the mower matters. The razors are very gentle on the seedlings.”
“That blade can be thrown away. It can be sharpened but it should be thrown away. The deck needs scraped out so bad... Fr. If you have a bagger, bag it when it's high. Yeah your husband is wrong on all accounts”
“Pennsylvania My husband says this mower blade is completely fine. Peep the giant knicks out of it. He also thinks it’s better to cut grass when it gets higher rather more often at a lower height. His lawn mis-knowledge drives me insane. He hates mowing because it takes so much effort, but if he maintained the mower properly it would be much less effort. I couldn’t cut the front lawn this morning because this is how he left it last. I’m just furious. submitted by /u/honey-12 [link] &#”

“Its hard not to when everyone on the internet seems to 😭 (copy and pasted) i have around an acre of flat land that needs to be mowed and around an acre of woods that i need to get as close to as possible, theres a building in the back where the mowers go, quite a few rock beds that are lined with garden stones, a gravel driveway up the center of the yard, a trench to help with flooding and a few trees. Because its such a large yard with so much to weed eat without a mower that can get close eno”
“That makes sense. I'm starting to think timing matters as much as the mower itself. I'm trying to avoid those soft days instead of just running the schedule no matter what.”
“I went with a zero turn and tbh the turning technique isn't that hard to learn. After a few mowing sessions it becomes natural to make soft turns without tearing up grass. The bigger reason for zero turn is cut quality. Mine leave the lawn look great, and I like having full control over the pattern and where I turn.”
Rotary is a regular mower. Cylinder mower is reel mowing (greens, etc).
What does rotary mow mean? How is that different the regular lawn mower?
“I noticed that too looking at the picture but They’re, quite literally, brand new blades on a 61” scag zt. That was my very first cut w the new mower. I’m pretty sure I had my throttle at 100%, but if it wasnt at 100 it was at 90-95. And that looks like solid KBG to you? Not a mix? https://preview.redd.it/2l7mke532moh1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8900c28419f38433acdcac25f90883cad305992 But yeah even in this photo I see the tips and also would seem like dull blades, but I”
“I mean buy exmarks oem blades if you haven’t already. Sharpen them slightly but not too much the metal on blades rolls over if it’s too sharp it will just chip out in chunks. If it’s a old machine take it to the dealer have them do a tune up and make sure the power on the engine is still close to what it would have been 20 years ago when it was built if it’s not replace the engine if you want better results in a single pass on a biweekly schedule otherwise mow weekly and but only maintain 2-3 ac”
“Can someone help me with my ride on lawnmower problem? I have been seeing a strip in between two out of three of my blades meaning they are not overlapping each other anymore. I installed new blades which are factory OEM blades so nothing wrong there. I'm just wondering how I all of a sudden started getting a strip in between my left and my centre blades submitted by /u/Disastrous_Dig_6527 [link] [comments]”
“You could try cutting more often. Best blades IMO are the OEM. You always want to mow with the throttle wide open. Go as fast as you want if you don’t care about cut quality but if it starts to bog down you need to slow it down.”
“7B NJ Cleaning my lawn mower and sharpening my blade for the new seedlings thats coming up now. I hand filed them down. Before and after How does it look? submitted by /u/Common-Coyote9375 [link] [comments]”
“any idea what's causing these stripes in my stripes? it did this even with fresh blades. i dont think its the deck wheels... bent deck? the spindles seem to be fine. mower is a Gen 2 Wright StanderZK 60" submitted by /u/viewtifuljoseph [link] [comments]”
“What do you think of my lines? Toro 4000 60" sit-down mower. submitted by /u/No-Dealer7634 [link] [comments]”
“Oh lol so that's what that thing is for...I never read the instructions nor set it up 🤣”
“Started a couple days back. Blades are turning way slower than they should even at full throttle, and I'm getting a squealing sound when I engage them, worse the deeper I get into thick grass. Engine itself is totally normal, no smoke, no smell, runs like it always has. Already pulled the plug and air filter to check, both fine. Got underneath the deck too, nothing jumping out at me. My guess is the engine's putting out power fine but something between there and the blades isn't hold”
“People saying to throw it away and but a new one while it takes 5min to sharpen it...”
“Be so for real with me. What actual percentage of people do you think are collecting their used mower blades, and taking them to a metal scrapyard”
I have a similar one and it’s always worked like a charm.
“It’s gotta plenty of life left. Use a bench grinder. You don’t need them super sharp just smooth out the nicks.”
“Probably not beyond repair if you use something with a higher grit. My favorite tool of choice is a 120 grit flap disc. May need to clean up the edge with a file first though.”
“Brother that blade is sub $20. Just buy a new one amd move on. Do it quickly, before your gravel gets much longer.”
“I’m new to this so take it easy on me 😂 are these blades beyond repair? Or would you sharpen and send it? submitted by /u/ClassroomSalt1755 [link] [comments]”
My air compressor and impact gun should do the trick. I thought an entire new assembly might do the trick. Thanks.
That’s what you get when you mow in the same pattern every time !
“I prefer taking the blades off the lawnmower and adding a buffing wheel. Really powerful buffer.”
Mowing one time with the dirt a little squishy can lead to permanent ruts
“Hey everyone, I'm using an Ego Z6 Zero turn mower. The spots where my tires go are all dried up. What am I doing wrong? Should I switch up my path? submitted by /u/ConstantAd632 [link] [comments]”
“That fence line in the background makes the stripes pop even more, nice work for a first go. My neighbor would be jealous, his lawn looks like it got a drunk haircut”
