“Well that’s what I wanted out of it, some people might be ok with the way it cuts out of the box. The type of grass i cut, mostly super thick cool season grass… No carb adjustment needed running rec 90 fuel non ethanol, if you stay on top of maintenance and catch things before…”
“Needing a major upgrade in the spreader department. I’ve got about 2 acres to tend to. Was looking at the brinly 125 lb spreader, since it has decent reviews and doesn’t leave my account crying for mercy. Anyone else have any decent recommendations??”
“That traction issue is interesting. Does it get noticeably worse when the hopper is empty?”
Several posts highlight confusion and frustration around lawn care equipment functionality, identification of grass types, and dealing with unexpected yard conditions. Users are seeking clarification on spreader settings, leaf blower specs, grass identification, and addressing buried debris.

“Looking to upgrade my spreader. Seems like this sub loves the Echo RB60, but came across this Yardworks spreader at Menards. Tires look pretty similar to the Echo, which is better than most Scott’s, and it comes out to be less after the Menards rebate…”
“Looking to buy one to [re: The Best Leaf Blower to buy right now? Any recommendations?]”
“Hey all! I just purchased a new home. Smaller 1/4 acre lot, but has been overgrown x2 months. Greenworks seems to have the best deal/pricing. Do you all recommend 80v or 60v mower/tools. I’m looking for at least a mower + blower combo. 80v seems to have more power however the additional weight/strength may be overkill? Would love to hear your opinions!! “I just got an ego max power blower on the Amazon deals week and man it's sad how excited I am for that especially with a huge ass sycramore tree in my backyard [re: Thanks Reddit Lawn Community!!!]”
“Bought a Ryobi 40v battery mower and returned it after a few. Thing stalls out so easily. I'm looking at a cheap 125cc mower, will this be more powerful than the Ryobi? It has a briggs and straton 4 stroke motor (I did try finding Honda but couldn't) submitted by /u/RobinsCosplays [link] [comments]”
“Got one from gardena at Costco and yeah, it dost the job. It's not like one pass and done and if your lawn is bumpy it struggles but it often beats manual work and bending over [re: Anyone use one of these before?]”
“I have the same one. I love it, picks up just about everything. I also it to pick loose grass from my mower. [re: Anyone use one of these before?]”

The type of grass i cut, mostly super thick cool season grass… No carb adjustment needed running rec 90 fuel non ethanol, if you stay on top of maintenance and catch things before they fail then it’s a non issue. I haven’t had it break on my route once. The PTO belt needs occasional adjustment so it doesn’t slip when engaging the blades. If you slam the bail you will burn belts. It’s just common sen”
“I’m in northern NJ with about .4 acres of lawn. I’ve been using a tow behind dethatcher and honestly it doesnt seem to do much. Thinking about getting one of the electric dethatcher/scarifiers instead. Anyone have one they really like? Dont mind spending a little more if it actually works and will hold up. submitted by /u/Time-Eye-1583 [link] [comments]”
“I don't have a recommendation , I just want to say that I also hated my Lowe's Craftsman weed wacker. So I feel your pain. Personally I bought a mikwaukee m18 weed wacker because I have plenty of the m18 batteries and it's been a dream to use, although I haven't needed to reload it yet lol. I'm sure someone here will tell you to buy an Echo, Stihl, or Husqvarna.”
“Hand bombing half an acre in 90 minutes is faster than most people could manage with a spreader.”
“I like the Melnor 4 zone timers. I've had 3 for multiple years. One went bad and they exchanged it, no push back. I've also tried the Moe's timers. I did not like the programming. For overseeding, you need to run a zone for 10 minutes, multiple times a day. With the Melnor timers, you can run them multiple times per day, totally independent of each other. I have 12 sprinklers so I am able to run them for 10 minutes and stagger the start times to maintain pressure x 4 different cycles”
“Manual push mower is the move if you dont mind a little sweat. my neighbor has one of those old school reel mowers and the cut looks cleaner than anything the rest of us are doing. plus no batteries to forget to charge for 1/6 acre itll take you like 20 minutes tops. just keep the blades sharp and dont let it get too long between cuts or youll be out there wrestling it”

“I was using an old commercial John Deere with a 17” guard. And now I’m using a Ryobi 40V with a 15” guard.”
“I have a PTO spreader that can probably take 150 lbs of seed. So it would take a while to spread manure that way. Although I like where your head is at. I also have a pto sprayer. Was wondering if I can fertilize using liquid. Tractor supply sells stuff. But I would need a lot of it. 2 gallons only treats 12-16k square feet. https://preview.redd.it/5fove062ekrh1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=683de92736e1624da7df959d05f784d47cbb4440”
“If you're looking for major brands, Lowe's is worth a visit. I recently stopped by and found some Pennington Smart Seed on sale. Pro tip: always check the seed labels. I managed to grab a single 25 lb bag that was mostly filled with their premium TTTF Rebel line.”
“Yeah the split shafts are OK but there's a massive difference in quality once you step up to professional equipment. You can get the same sort of thing in residential grade too though if that's what you're after”
“Planning on picking up the spreader. Is there anything in particular I should look for in regards so wear and tear? Signed someone who had never taken care of a lawn before. submitted by /u/Early_Lifeguard_7270 [link] [comments]”
“But the dork in me wants to know why some places bill in CCF and some in cubic feet. My usage is tracked in cubic feet but it's billed in CCF.”
“I had to temporarily cede lawn duties to our lawn guy this summer. With my somewhat-trusty Toro recycler pusher it takes around two hours to get everything cut, and i do need that alone time but my wife (correctly) pointed out that i should use that time to do something less physically strenuous because i guess she could see that i needed a break. So...of course i started using it for hiking. :)”
“Just looking for opinions, would you all cut this yard with a zero turn or a tractor? I bought the zero turn and it dude cut it fine, it was just a bit sketchy on the hills. submitted by /u/directX26 [link] [comments]”
“I blow an insane amount of leaves into a pile and just keep mowing over it until its dust. Then I blow it around with leaf blower.”
“i'd just get a cheap electric mower and treat it like a leaf vacuum, no need for gas if you're not doing the actual lawn. mulching on the tarp is smart but be careful the blade don't catch the fabric.”
“Context: I moved houses last year and this one has quite a few trees. It's only a 0.3 acre lot. Before this house, I never lived anywhere with trees until now. The amount of leaves we got last year was absolutely monstrous. Even at the closing, the previous owner was like "you'll LOVE picking up all the leaves!" and I chuckled thinking it was mostly a joke. It is not. We slaved for several hours to rake together a leaf pile last year for pickup that was nearly as tall as I am a”
“Located South Louisiana, on rural 3 acres. I've been borrowing a mower for the past few months waiting to get my own. $2,500 off normal price seems like the time to jump? Theres also Scag Tigercat II 52" 25hp Kohler efi for $9,700. submitted by /u/Kind_Paper6367 [link] [comments]”
“i have around an acre of flat land that needs to be mowed and around an acre of woods that i need to get as close to as possible, theres a building in the back where the mowers go, quite a few rock beds that are lined with garden stones, a gravel driveway up the center of the yard, a trench to help with flooding and a few trees. Because its such a large yard with so much to weed eat without a mower that can get close enough, and a mower that is not efficient enough, i always felt like it would t”
“For those who’ve used both, which would you choose? Right now it would be used to blow water out of gaps, but maybe flat surfaces later (after I put on a proper coating and get a DI tank, using spray/wipe for now). Trying to limit the options to these two battery platforms as I already have the Milwaukee batteries for garage tools and Ryobi 40V for the outdoor stuff… ok, I already have an older Ryobi 40V blower too, but it’s loud, weak, and I didn’t see a stubby nozzle for it. submitted by”
The 9010 is still a great blower. Thinking about maybe getting one myself.
“60 quid is a steal! I bought a similar model from the year 2000 for 500 quid, but it had undergone careful refurbishing with original parts. Mine has a lever on the right handle where the speed and power can be adjusted. Check if the cable is there. Cuts beautifully”
“I was considering my a walk-behind version so I can also use it for leaves in November. For the grass, my thought right now is just to use the collection bag on the dethatcher and when it gets full, just dump it on a tarp and keep going.”
“CFM makes a huge difference, but also drains battery really quick. I was able to do yard work just fine on my cheaper 400 cfm, but heavy leaves and pine needles took quite some time and usually needed to be raked. I got one of the 700cfm electrics and it just drained the battery in like 10 minutes at max power(do not ever trust their run time claims). I returned it since batteries are expensive and ended up with a gas backpack and it just saves so much time for heavy leaves and pine needles it&#”
“I have been reading way too many leaf blower discussions lately, and the more spec sheets I look at, the less I understand what actually matters. My old blower is starting to give up, and I'm thinking about switching from corded to cordless for the first time. That's basically what sent me down this rabbit hole in the first place. My yard is pretty typical for a suburban house, around half an acre.Got a few flower beds out back too, so I’m usually blowing around those as well. Most of th”
“My older one with a Kohler engine did great for 10+ years. But in terms of new new ones with the Briggs engine, garbage!”
“Just bought a house and seller left behind a corded Greenworks mower that still powers on. Should I replace the blade? submitted by /u/SizzlinKola [link] [comments]”
“$699 NZD. I went for this deal because it included an extra battery, i.e. I got 2x 40V batteries. Used it once. Front-yard (90m2) was a little rough with lots of dips. Mower stopped at one point due to a dip and damp grass. Back-yard was a lot smoother. Battery still indicated full after I was done (back-yard) after around 60m2. I notice the build quality seems to be a little lower than Ryobi. But a Ryobi mower with similar functions/power would cost about $400 more. The self-propelled function”
“I just think it makes sense core aeration is an advocated part of lawn care, yet there really isn’t an affordable residential-powered option. submitted by /u/Typical-Occasion4537 [link] [comments]”
“The spreader is actually above the wheels just not shown very well in the picture. We shall see how it works as gonna be seeding and fertilizing tomorrow.”
“I took one wheel off - simple cotter pin. Then dropped the axle and gearbox thing. Pulled the shaft down for the spinner wheel and was able to get purchase on the tabs to actually release the factory agitator. Then put everything back without an agitator before popping the new one in. Much easier than trying to get my sausage fingers in the gap to release the factory agitator.”
“Just picked up this used spreader for $7 at a salvation army. These decent enough for a regular guy and a midsize yard. (7-8k sq. Ft)? submitted by /u/Hesasadpanda [link] [comments]”
“The biggest downside on mine is the hopper. It fills quickly if I let the needles build up, so I have to empty it more often than expected.”
“One tip, if you are thinking about electric mowers, look into the price point and figure out if you wanna go into green works, Ryobi, ego etc. Stick to one brand, will get you further than having to maintain 4 different batteries”
“New house, new lawn, new mower. Got a Scag Liberty Z 42 for the larger yard (over a 1/2 acre) coming from a Honda push mower that mulched very well. Is it worth it getting mulching specific blades without the full “mulching kit”? I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about the full Scag mulching kits, but how much benefit would adding something like the Oregon Gator blades be? Do not want to bag. Currently cutting at 3-1/2 inches but working down to 2” for aerating, leveling, and over seeding next”
“So I'm pretty new to lawncare and don't know what I'm doing... hoping to get some feedback from the community here on if my plan is sound. I have a small lawn(~500 sqft of kentucky bluegrass) in Colorado(Boulder/Denver area). I had some sprinkler issues so it browned quite heavily over the summer. After patching the sprinkler issues in mid july, I dethatched my lawn and spread some seed over the areas that were bare... and yes, I learned my lesson that dethatching when weeds are gett”
“I've thought about mulching more, but what do you do when there’s just way too much buildup?”
“That traction issue is interesting. Does it get noticeably worse when the hopper is empty?”
“Hi, Using Triple Threat uncoated TTTF to overseed, but can't figure out spreader setting for 2 passes. Any ideas? submitted by /u/ComprehensiveTry4730 [link] [comments]”
“Leave the plugs. This thing is for leaves, anyway. And significantly less effective than a bagger attachment for a mower, FWIW.”
