“Kind of funny how much joy I get out of finding the correct screwdriver, actually having the right batteries and keeping my kids playtime going. It’s the little things. submitted by /u/Architectvre [link] [comments]”

“My son is nearly 8 -- and he's had 2 bikes washed away by hurricane floods, and then life was just to busy to teach him how to ride a bike. I felt like a neglectful dad as I rode my bike to school in kindergarten. We tried a few days this past 6 weeks, I just could only find pockets. But he was getting there, a bit. This Saturday, I decided we're gonna get this. In like 20 minutes, with a few bruises and a bloody knee, he got it. All he wanted to do Sunday was ride a bike, and the first”

My 4Yo and I made this our project today. Had to go to the hard ware store, get some new tools for Me and him, measure and hang the frames. I know…

“My 7-year-old surprised me last night. He told me they’re presenting a poem for Teacher’s Day next Monday, so I asked him to recite it for me. He’s normally a very shy kid and doesn’t talk much, so I was genuinely surprised when he recited the whole thing. Seeing him enjoy himself and gain a little confidence made me really happy. submitted by /u/koimat [link] [comments]”

“Last night was one of the happiest moments I had being a dad. For context, when I was going through a difficult time in my teenage years, my parents were not very supportive or available. They treated me like I was a problem when I was a kid that was having a problem. I believe this has made me sensitive to the topic of emotional availability. Last night, while putting my 7-year-old son to bed, he started getting upset and worried that he was going to be in trouble at school today because he acc”

“I know it’s not a true “achievement” but this is the first time my “step son” has ever called me dad. It’s been a long time coming but I’m super proud of this moment. Now if I can just find that dude that’s cutting the onions nearby 😭. submitted by /u/2inchesabovethehole [link] [comments]”

“I've got a 3 year old son and almost 5 year old son. They've had balance bikes sitting around in the garage and bikes with training wheels on them. We took them out to try on the blacktop of a school once this summer, but I'm realizing I failed on taking them out again after that. It seemed like it was pretty hard to pedal the bikes, but it's probably cause it was such a new idea for them at the time. Just looking for some tips that helped with yours as I start trying to be more”

“15 YO kiddo is visiting for a couple weeks (usually with mom a 5 hour flight away). I pick her up at the airport and she hits me with "Wow, your car is so cool!" (Bought an 9 year old Discovery Sport recently). Next day for dinner, she asked for tacos and says "this is better than the way mom makes it!" I'll cherish this moment forever 🙃 submitted by /u/mandu_xiii [link] [comments]”

“The other day my son was in the bathroom pooping . For reasons I still don’t understand, he started saying my full name out loud. Then he started putting “Daddy” in front of my full name and repeating it. With and Without Daddy. I'm thinking, "Yup, that's my little dude and that’s the story." And somehow, standing there listening to my kid poop while repeatedly announcing my full legal name with “Daddy” in front of it was one of those moments where I was just ridiculously happy”

“Reminiscing with my middle school boy, I wanted to share the moment I hit peak dad... and would love to hear your moments of inspiration: So when my boy was maybe seven, he decided he wanted to be Flash for halloween. The following Saturday he had a recreational league soccer game (that I was coaching) and wanted to wear his Flash costume to the game. In a moment of pure inspiration, I replied, "I'm sorry you can't my boy, it would be an unfair advantage". He agree'd with m”

“Took the boys to the local bike park. Older son had some nerves about hitting some new jumps. After a few runs, he said he was going to hit them. Few minutes later, he was jumping over his little brother. When we went to leave, he said "Dad, thank you for helping me get over my fears." submitted by /u/xtreamist9 [link] [comments]”

“I'm a new dad and I am genuinely excited and happy about that. Its been my dream for a while to be on the other side of my childhood memories. My son is 4.5 months old, i have alot of great interaction with him, hes smiling and starting to work on his giggle and i love every second of it. Occasionally i manage to rock him to sleep and let him nap on me while watching a movie. The only thing that just kinda gets me is that when hes upset (which is alot as he develops and well babies be gassy”

“How early did you guys teach your children to ride bikes, rollerblades, skateboard? If they weren't receptive to it, how did you guys get them to eventually like it and be good at it? I saw a dad with his two young daughters ride their rollerblades and it was impressive. submitted by /u/BoatsAndToes [link] [comments]”

“Had a very proud moment this evening. My son (2 and 5m) lately has been getting into Duplo, like, getting into the imagination of building. He often gets VERY frustrated with it, like when the blocks don’t line up, which often leads to pressing harder until it falls apart and then usually starts throwing and tantruming. We’ve obviously been working on that response. We also end up helping him build what he wants. Tonight after dinner he spent a solid 45 minutes independently playing with them an”

“Just had to share this little moment that makes being a dad the best. Taking care of my small 0.10 acre lot is really my only hobby. My daughter and I put on our hat, sunglasses and get our mowers ready to work. She gets so excited and yells "a mower!" at the top of her lungs. My wife keeps her at a safe distance while I do the actual mowing but seeing her face light up while I do one of my favorite things has been such a cool experience. submitted by /u/HudsonUnited [link]”

“This bike was a barn find I bought a couple years ago for $10. Finally got to work on it this summer with my son. With my son’s help, bike was stripped bare, cleaned, rust removed, polished, greased and reassembled with new parts my son picked out. This was my first time building a bike, lessons were learned! Will not be the last! My son got his hands dirty building it, he’s proud of the sweat equity, and absolutely loves riding it! Definitely the coolest bike in the neighborhood. submitte”

“Cracks myself and our 5 year old up, gets anywhere between a smile and a full laugh from my wife. Solid 6/10 bit One of my favorite parts of fatherhood is making fun and funny out of the mundane. Kids are hilarious, parenting is hilarious, let’s just have some fun with it. submitted by /u/WBT67 [link] [comments]”
