“Is this a coolant leak? I’ve never noticed it before. She coincidentally just overheated a bit but I believe that’s due to the radiator fan not cycling for long enough at idle (goes for 35-40 seconds and stops, heard it should be a few mins especially if running hot). If anyone…”

“1993 k2500 with a 350 swapped from a previous owner and an edelbrock 1406. I installed a new 180f thermostat and "burped" the cooling system as it did not have a thermostat. The water temp gauge would go to 200f and no hot air would come out of the vents. I assumed this meant…”

“My buddy has a 1995 Camaro 5.7 he took it to a shop to get the water pump replaced as his vehicle was overheating and was leaking from the water pump. When he got the car back it was running rough so he took it back and they said he likely needs a optispark distributor. Is that something the shop would have damaged while doing the water pump and should pay for? Any advice is appreciated submitted by /u/OzzieJ8 [link] [comments]”

“I bought a project jdm h22a swapped 95 honda accord with a manual trans (lazy swap) recently, and found out the previous owner filled the radiator with water. I brought it to a meineke (it overheated like crazy) and he apparently replaced it but I'm not sure he did it right. when I start the car and drive for a few minutes it takes ages to get to temperature guage up to temps, like 20 plus minutes, and then it slowly overheats over time but the engine feels fine. also the cabin heat doesn&#3”

“I recently changed my timing belt and water pump, and all seemed great until yesterday. On my drive home, the engine overheated so I pulled over, bought some coolant, and burped the system. All seemed well, check engine light went away and it drove smooth. Today, I went out to see coolant leaked from the thermostat housing, and now there is no heat. I was going to take the thermostat out, and try resetting it and the gasket. I was wondering do I need to buy a new gasket if I seated it wrong? Als”

“I'm going to share as much detail as possible in order to increase the likelihood of someone figuring this out, but I'll also incude a TLD:R: radiator, radiator cap, thermostat, and water pump have been replaced (some multiple times) but car still runs too hot on hills/in traffic. Heater also has stopped working (heater core was replaced in 2022) and I don't know if it's related. external fans are functional. ----- I live in a fairly warm climate (California) and drive a 1997 Bui”

“So this started a few weeks back — I'm driving, AC is on, and I notice it's blowing kinda warm, not really cold at all. Look down and the temp gauge is almost in the red. Cranked the heat full blast to dump heat out of the coolant and watched the gauge drop, made it home fine but obviously that's not a fix. Pulled an old invoice from about 7 months ago and thermostat + coolant temp sensor were already replaced then, so I decided to rule those out. Once I actually got in there to star”

“1980’s-1990’s Chevy 350 SBC crate engine with what looks like a hot rod/aftermarket accessory drive setup. Looking for the water pump, we bought a replacement, I installed it, my FIL tossed the old one, and now I see after he installed the belts the snout length is wrong. The water pump housing has (pictured) PHASE - THREE WATER PUMP 4342290 Water pumps I found like it are Gates 42082 and Gates 42085 from GM 3.8L and 4.1L I6 engines. “I brought a 2010 Cadillac SRX Performance with the 2.8L turbo V6, around 153,000 miles. The car was driving normal with no noises or issues. Then it suddenly lost coolant while I was on the highway. The temperature went up, smoke/steam started coming from under the hood, and I had to keep driving to get to a safe place. About 2 mins later the car lost power, slowed down, and stopped. Now, when coolant is added, it spills out quickly. Could be reservoir and lower hose. The car doesn’t start anymo”

“Hello everyone, I have a 1999 Hyundai Accent Korean model with a 1.5L engine and automatic transmission. I bought the car as it is, and I'm trying to figure out several problems: Current symptoms: 1.The yellow Check Engine Light is on. 2.The speedometer reads incorrectly; sometimes it gets stuck around 40 mph and does not show the real speed. 3.The car has delayed acceleration when I press the gas pedal. 4.Sometimes, I feel resistance or something unusual when shifting between D and R. After”
