“Anyone else terrified about choking when starting baby on solids? I'm already a few weeks in and not finding it any easier. I'm finding the whole process overwhelming. I gave my baby some steamed broccoli to eat there tonight for the first time. I grabbed it out of her hand…”

“My 10 month old is at that stage where she puts everything in her mouth. Today she put a piece of plastic wrap in her mouth, it was from a bandaid which i had put on, i thought i threw away the wrapping but one of the plastic wrapper from the sticky part of it must have fallen…”

“Hi guys! FTM , 19 weeks here. I’m finalizing my registry and just went down the rabbit hole of positional asphyxiation risks with bouncers. As a new mom, I’m trying to get some help weighing a couple of things- I understand now the risks with sleeping in a bouncer or while baby…”

“Anyone else terrified about choking when starting baby on solids? I'm already a few weeks in and not finding it any easier. I'm finding the whole process overwhelming. I gave my baby some steamed broccoli to eat there tonight for the first time. I grabbed it out of her hand before she could get the chance to eat it. I was terrified watching her. Fear I never felt before. I feel terrible now as I cant be carrying on like that when shes eating. Also I had this awful thought that I could be”

“Hi guys! FTM , 19 weeks here. I’m finalizing my registry and just went down the rabbit hole of positional asphyxiation risks with bouncers. As a new mom, I’m trying to get some help weighing a couple of things- I understand now the risks with sleeping in a bouncer or while baby wearing up to at least 4 months. I’ve also seen that babies can grow out of their bouncers as early as 5-6 months. Is it worth getting one at all? As a sleep deprived parent, is using a bouncer while they’re awake practic”

“I’ve got the Frida baby electric nasal aspirator. it does an okay job of getting boogies out and baby seems to at least tolerate it. it feels so loud though especially if I’m trying to do a quick suction while baby is asleep. anyone have recommendation of one that is a bit quieter? does that even exist? also one that is easily transported in diaper bag… I don’t really want to take the manual one out and about 😭 submitted by /u/PuzzledGift2620 [link] [comments]”

“Is anyone using this on the daily? I feel like my little man constantly has boogies! It definitely impacts his breathing because he starts snorting with how clogged it is. submitted by /u/Purple_Operation_333 [link] [comments]”

“if you have a child with allergies (mine is 5.5 months with egg allergy) and they go to daycare, what do you do about the epipen? my insurance will only cover one set of 2, I was told not to separate the set of two. my doctor put in a refill but the pharmacy said I can’t get it for a few weeks. anyone in a similar situation? what did you do? submitted by /u/Ausername8976 [link] [comments]”

“Am I the only one who feels like those breathing and heart rate monitors with alerts actually make more anxious instead of less? I get that they give some parents peace of mind, but I know I’d just end up staring at the numbers all the time and freaking out every time a notification pops up. I just want a baby monitor with a clear picture and decent sound. Don’t need all the extra stuff that tries to track every little movement. Everything I’m seeing on Amazon seems loaded with features I don’t”

“Hi parents! We’ve just started weaning and are still mostly doing purées because I’m really scared of choking. 😥 Is there any gadget/device you’d recommend having at home in case a baby chokes? Has anyone bought something that gave them extra peace of mind? I’m planning to learn baby first aid too, but would love to hear what other parents recommend. Thank you! submitted by /u/Wrong_Inevitable_401 [link] [comments]”

“Hey guys! My daughter will be eight weeks old on Friday and she’s choking everytime she’s fed. She’s breastfed and bottle fed. I pump before feeding her and only feed her on my left breast as the letdown is not so strong on that side and her bottles are nipple size 1, though, we’re thinking about buying the preemie ones to help! When she’s fed I can hear her swallowing really hard and then she will often pull off and gasp for air and cough and occasionally cry. She also coughs everytime she’s la”

“Need some other opinions, preferably from others who have gone down the allergy rabbithole... My 6mo recently got referred to an allergist doctor for suspected CMPA (mucousy stools, hivey skin, discomfort when I have dairy). So we went did the skin prick test. Turns out she does not have CMPA but surprisingly did have an allergy to eggs. We have just started solids and have not tried any major allergens yet. So we got recommend prebiotic/probiotic supplements for both myself and LO to maybe help”

“My baby just turned 14 months old, and I want to make sure I know what to do if they choke at this age. I know that for infants under 1 year, you place them face-down on your forearm, give 5 back blows, then turn them over for 5 two-finger chest thrusts. For older children, you do back blows followed by abdominal thrusts while they are upright. Since my child is now 14 months old, should I be using the child choking rescue technique (back blows + abdominal thrusts), or should I still use the inf”

“Originally the AAP and AHA weren’t recommending the LifeVac “anti-choking device” and they weren’t FDA approved. They’ve since received FDA approval. My LO is 7 months and we recently started solids. I never even thought of this again but my sister is panicking (on my behalf???) and says I need one. I know they’re meant to be used if the Heimlich and back blows fail but I’m curious what everyone’s else thoughts are? Any experiences or educated opinions on this? submitted by /u/Advent”
