“I started emailing prospective PIs on Friday and plan to send out a few emails tomorrow. I know it’s already super late in the semester, but how screwed am I? My field is marine science/environmental science/ public health (one health). Most, if not all,of the programs require…”

Applicants are anxious about the timing of online versus in-person secondary interviews, and whether earlier interviews impact their chances. Concerns also exist regarding drug testing policies at medical schools with varying legal statuses for cannabis.

“So I received two II’s in September and completed them, one at my top school and one at a school I would also love to attend. I have two DO interviews coming up this month and December, but after touring one of the DO schools and hearing their curriculum and what they’re about, I realized I really wouldn’t enjoy going to school there and that I may have wasted money on my DO app. October 15th just passed, and it was complete silence for me, and since about the end of September it’s been complete”

“Are schools slowing down on sending out IIs until after the 15th? Feel like it's been pretty quiet in terms of interviews/rejections/any news since mid-September submitted by /u/Much_Willingness603 [link] [comments]”

“How long after submitting secondaries should you expect to hear back from programs? I submitted my in-state secondaries early September and have yet to hear back. Is this to be expected for those who did not submit right away? P.S best of luck to your cycles :) submitted by /u/Montcane [link] [comments]”

“Hi! I am a lower stat applicant and I had my first MD interview yesterday with my top choice and in state school. When is it a good idea to send a letter of intent, before or after their decision? I don’t want to look too desperate lol. Thanks submitted by /u/xur1000 [link] [comments]”

“Am I being delusional or is it a really good sign if I receive an II from a T5 when I submitted their secondaries on Labor Day yet got the II in September. My MCAT is below their 25th percentile so I’m curious if this is common/pure luck or if there’s a decent chance I might get IIs from other T20s. Like I expected to potentially hear back in like November or December but definitely not 2 weeks after submitting submitted by /u/ComprehensiveRub7901 [link] [comments]”

“Out of curiosity, are there any TMDSAS applicants who received all/majority of their interviews in October or after while still completing secondaries relatively early? Thanks! submitted by /u/LakePrestigious4990 [link] [comments]”

“hi all, Just got an interview at my top school and noticed the first available interview date they have is for the first week of January? is it normal for schools to have dates that far away when you get invited in late Sept?? Seems like a long wait to me! I’m also super excited to interview so the wait is gonna kill me. submitted by /u/Extension-Mind5718 [link] [comments]”

“Bonus points if you submitted your secondaries 6+ weeks/multiple months after receiving them, especially for no good reason :P (Feeling demotivated and need some hopecore) submitted by /u/Link-Rot [link] [comments]”

“I just received an II for a school where I can chose between in person or virtual. The virtual one is on September 24 but the in person one isn't until October 22. Does doing the interview a month earlier outweigh going in person? If I do the virtual one I also have another interview the day before so I'd have to prepare for both. I know schools will say there is no disadvantage to choosing virtual over in person and I'm assuming it looks better to go in person, but not sure if inter”

“For reference I’m in a state where weed is legal, but I’m applying places where it isn’t. I’ve been sober for like 4 months to make sure it’s all gone, as I’m assuming some part of the process or even matriculation may involved a drug test. Is this actually real? submitted by /u/Checkered-Board69 [link] [comments]”
