“Hey guys 👋 I am a college senior with a 521 MCAT/ 3.95 GPA but a legitimate multi-year interruption from injuries/surgery, and I’m wondering how to strategically use my final year before a 2027–28 application (considering I’m still physically limited) and how to plan for a gap…”

Several posts express anxiety and confusion regarding medical school admissions. Concerns revolve around senior year grades, yield protection, Spanish fluency requirements, application verification timelines, and the lack of direct scientific thinking instruction.

“Hi guys I'm a current sophomore and I'm trying to figure out how my foreign language coursework would be viewed by highly selective colleges. I have 3 Native language credits from middle school, but all three credits appear under 6th grade on my transcript (They are through a official test and it is recognized) I also took Spanish 1 in 8th grade and Spanish 2 during freshman year. I already meet my high school's foreign language graduation requirement, but I'm wondering how colle”
“Hey! i’m stuck with either doing 4 years of spanish and doing ap spanish for senior year or doing my schools second highest varsity choir and doing that for four years because i can’t do both due to core classes/requires courses. for context, i hope to go into poli sci or IR or both, but will it look bad if i quit music or spanish after 4 years? emotionally ill miss choir a little more just because we get to do lots of senior stuff this year but i’m fine with either or option. also, senior year”
“For 2 schools, there's an opportunity to explain lower GPAs, MCAT, grades, etc. I got a 510 MCAT with a 124 CARS and I'm debating if I explain how I'm piss bad at reading? (jk will give reason). My MCAT in general is kind of buttcheeks to my 3.98 sGPA and 3.9 cGPA so idk. It's optional btw submitted by /u/srhknts [link] [comments]”
“Hi! So I applied this cycle with a 494 mcat and 3.87 gpa along with many ec! I had low hopes and even started studying again for the mcat. I applied before I got my score and decided to keep my applications just bc I already paid $$. Anyways…. I just got an interview at IUPCOM! I am very happy bc I thought I wasn’t going to have any interviews. Pls tell me more about it. I’m still going to study again for the mcat bc I know my chances aren’t high but pls advise me!! submitted by /u/R”
“I have been looking for an answer to whether there are application types (mainly thinking of RD) that allow me to include the first quarter/semester grades of my senior year into the APPLICATION PROCESS, rather than reevaluation such as waitlists and midyear report. All of the information I've gotten is pretty murky, and i would love an explanation because my junior year was subpar imo, and i think a strong start to senior yr will help my case submitted by /u/Terrible_Nose3776 [l”
“Applying straight through for 2027 fall start. How much do senior year grades matter? There's a class I really want to take that's notoriously difficult but interesting - no one gets an A. Should I just avoid altogether and find a more boring but easier class or is it worth taking anyways submitted by /u/powerofcaffeination [link] [comments]”
“Title. Is it only for applicants with high stats all around? If a student has a low GPA but an MCAT that’s significantly above average for the school, do they get yield protected too? Or is it a more holistic process? submitted by /u/Firm_Ad3191 [link] [comments]”
“Hello, on my primary I put that I was fluent in Spanish. I wasn’t thinking too much about it because I speak Spanish conversationally with others and my mom at home, however I do make mistakes when I speak. The mistakes can be from grammar mistakes to forgetting a word, and I mainly attribute this to learning Spanish by ear. Nevertheless, I heard if you mark fluent on your app they may hold an interview in Spanish and if they do, since I marked fluent, they would expect little to no mistakes. So”

“Richard Feynman, in his 1974 Caltech commencement speech, said that the scientific approach (the discipline of not fooling yourself) isn't taught in any course that he's aware of, and as far as I know, we have the same situation today. Students are expected to learn it by osmosis, by showing hundreds of examples of scientific work. He told us the problem. He also hinted at the solution: he didn't say "we can't directly teach this," he said we haven't included it in”
