“I have several properties in different states all at full occupancy. Being a landlord is definitely for me. I have never had this issue at any of my other properties. This was a first time. I came here to see from other investors if this is a common thing.”

“I’m brand new to property management and was hired the same day as my interview. I knew I was walking into a property that needed work, but I had NO idea how bad it actually was. I manage a 90+ unit apartment complex, plus another 30-unit property. Both are in what is considered…”

“I just got hired with an affordable housing community as property manager. I start in a few weeks and after training ill be the only one on site. Any tips? Advice? I know absolutely nothing so it will be a learning curve but im excited…”
“I have been in commercial property management for 8 years now, in January I accepted a position for a Regional role (not overseeing anyone) but just a property manager over 3 states. I have 8 properties, 150 tenants all retail, I am loosing my mind, I wake up anxious and I go to bed thinking about tommorows never ending task list. I have no onsite maintenance, and I have no APM, I am also fully remote in my market and the headquarters is 10 states away. When I started, I thought I would have sup”
“Hey, guys. I’ve sent my property manager emails about my upstairs neighbors' harassment going on for 8 months now, and the property manager hasn’t responded back to any of my emails for the past 5 months, but when I go to the office in person to talk, she claims she’s not ignoring me, and she takes it seriously. A follow-up would feel nice, you know? It was 4 in the morning last night, and my neighbor repeatedly stomped as hard as they could in one spot to wake me up out of my sleep. I feel”
“I just had an interview today with the regional Director. I would be the property manager. The other property manager has stepped down and she wants to be Assistant. She wants to go after new renters. I have never been a property manager before, but I've been in the industry cleaning carpets. The property has 347 units. It is 50 minutes away from me. I live in a congested area. They are offering at the Low $80,000. What types of questions do I need to ask so I can protect myself? I'm at”
“I’m newer to the industry and feeling very discouraged. What in the world does it take for a large PM company (or property owner) to fire managers? That’s the goal. I’m seeing a lot of things that HUD might be interested in investigating, along with some of the management getting too cozy with residents and gossiping about residents with other residents. It’s brutal. Both the property manager in the regional manager won’t do anything to stop the other people from being unprofessional. But the p.”

“Relax. You hired him to manage your property, so he did something right to earn your trust. Then something happened you weren't comfortable with and he should have handled it better. You made your decision and you all weren't able to have a compromise. Its done. You have a strong personality and you are going to handle your business as you see fit. No more, no less. I know how my clients feel about me, I know where my moral compass points. I dont have issues with things of this nature. P”
“He was getting more than 8-10 percent. I also was about to give him more responsibilities until this came up.”
“I landed an assistant property management position. I am currently a retail manager, I’ve been wanting to get in to property management for a while now I’ve heard mixed reviews… Now that I’ve been offered the position I’m having cold feet… I’m 25 only ever worked in retail.. My question is, are there people out there who have gone from retail to property management and are really enjoying themselves? submitted by /u/IGotHiccups [link] [comments]”
“I’ve worked in property management/leasing before, so I thought I knew what I was getting into when I took my current leasing consultant position about 2 months ago. But I’m realizing more and more that this industry just isn’t for me. The pay is good, I get a significant employee rent discount, and there’s an internal transfer opportunity after 6 months, which was a big reason I took this job. The problem is that I genuinely hate the day-to-day work. The constant resident complaints, conflict,”
“I’m brand new to property management and was hired the same day as my interview. I knew I was walking into a property that needed work, but I had NO idea how bad it actually was. I manage a 90+ unit apartment complex, plus another 30-unit property. Both are in what is considered one of the more unsafe areas of my town. The main property is only about 40% occupied because so many of the units are supposedly unlivable. The units that are considered “okay” still have major issues. I’m seeing mold c”
“I've been at my property for 5 years. As the assistant manager, I did very well. I won awards, I was asked to travel to other properties to help out, and I was loved by the residents. In January, the CM quit and I was offered the promotion. Everything immediately became incredibly difficult. Huge problems that were previously ignored by management now became my responsibility. I did the absolute best I could. I genuinely cared about the community, the residents and my staff. But I had no ass”
“For context this is my perspective but our apartments have generally a lower than 3.0 ratings. The manager has a habit of escalating situations with tenants and speaking aggressively. While I understand some tenants are hard to talk to alot of the nicer tenants ace same problems. I was led out early because of a constant mold issue that wasn't going away. But after a heated arguement in which the manager cussed us and fined us $100 without evidence. I left a google review which I was confron”
