“I have a 7-month-old mixed breed. She is in the car a minimum of 3 times a week to go do her activities: hiking, manners class, swimming, puppy agility, etc. She absolutely loves her activities and has been going to them for 3 months now. She rides in her Ruffland kennel…”
“Is this typical? I had to put him in a carrier to bring him from my mom’s house back home, it’s about a 7 minute car ride. It was challenging to get him in the carrier, he was fighting it, and then he barked and cried the entire ride home, desperately trying to get out of the…”
“When we’re in the car, my dog is pretty chill during the ride, but starts fussing when we get close to our destination. Makes sense when we’re going home or somewhere he knows, but today we were going to a brand new place, and he started fussing during the last roundabout just…”

Now we’re home and he’s totally off - a lot of heavy panting STILL, even though we’ve been home for nearly an hour. He always naps on the couch next to a person and refuses to do so, he’s passed out on the wood flo”

Makes sense when we’re going home or somewhere he knows, but today we were going to a brand new place, and he started fussing during the last roundabout just before we were going to stop. And it’s not because of highway vs city driving, we’d already been driving in the city and doing roundabouts for five minutes, and I hadn’t slowed to pull over in the road because again we wer”
“My Yorkie “thinks” he likes to go for rides in the car, but in reality he’s really freaked out. Constant barking, trying to climb onto me, clawing at the door if I park. I need help from other dog moms please! I drive a 2-door Mini Cooper and he sits shotgun in the front buckled into his car seat. He’s got such anxiety 3 minutes into any drive. Please don’t tell me to put him in the back seat because I am handicapped and unable to maneuver into that space. Maybe he should get elevated in a highe”
“My 7 month old pup has been dealing with car sickness worse than any of my other pups had ever. I know it is usually an adolescent thing and it should pass. Nearly every ride has resulted in a little puke in our poor little puppy. Today we took her to our usual sniffspot (1 hour there, 1 hour back) and she was 100% puke free! She hardly even drooled. We didn't give her breakfast and I guess that was the ticket. We are a road trip kind of family so I am excited for this being the first step t”

“Maisy, 8 month old Bernedoodle, has had bad travel anxiety since we got her. Standing outside the car with the door open, before we’ve even gotten in, she begins smacking her lips, shaking her head and drooling. In the car, it’s more of the same but extreme drooling and foamy mouth for even short 10-15 minute trips across town. We tried positive association training with treats, making it a fun destination, getting a “seat” for her, she’s strapped in with a harness and just recently started usin”
“I just moved to a new city with my 2 year old miniature dachshund, and so far she’s been doing great adjusting to the apartment. She’s only ever lived in a house, but she has no reaction to cars, sirens, or even other dogs barking from inside. HOWEVER : potty breaks are a completely different story. As soon as we’re outside, she barks at pretty much every person and dog who passes by. She doesn’t react this way when I’m holding her, so I’m assuming it’s fear-based. I took her to training for ove”

“Hey everyone! We have an 8.5-month-old Mini Poodle, and we are really struggling with car rides right now. When he was smaller, he used to sit in my lap(in passenger seat), but he’s outgrown that and just refuses to sit or settle. Handing him treats isn't working either. We tried moving him to the back seat, but he constantly puts his paws up on the center armrest. We also tried a back seat hammock combined with a seatbelt tether, but that was a total fail, he still paces and tries to climb”
“Hello, everyone! Our little lady recently turned 7 months, she is a corgi and we have her since she was almost 3 months old. Currently me and my partner work from office 2 days a week and 1 of the days we drive our puppy to a nanny to spend the day with her and her dog. Previously we left her one day alone for half the day in a separate room, but she wasn’t a big fan of that, she did settle alone and sleep for most of the time, but sometimes she threw a tantrum and used to whine and howl for a f”
“Hi guys, our dog (10 months) has always been uncomfortable in the car. As a baby he actually slept during the drive. Nowadays he just pants , lays down on my leg, gets up again, and just seems very stressed. Even on short drives to the park. I sit with him in the backseat of the car. We tried putting his dog bed in there (it’s more of a memory foam mat) and some pillows. He always wants to look out the window and I can’t tell if it helps him or makes him more anxious. We have researched and want”
