“I am a teacher in a school where teachers move between classes instead of students moving. My workload is average tho not too high, and i was planning to stop at 36 weeks. I had 2 previous deliveries at 36 weeks so im not taking the risk of going beyond that. However, here I'm…”

Several teachers express extreme exhaustion and difficulty managing the start of the school year while pregnant, particularly during the demanding first trimester. They seek advice on coping with fatigue and hope for improvement in the second trimester.

“Hi all! I am a first grade teacher and I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and out of first trimester. I am curious as to when would be the right time to tell my students? How did anyone handle bending and squatting to help kids all day? Im dying here. I'll be out almost the whole last 9 weeks, I'll be going back for the last week of school. How can I help my long term sub with data and accommodation tracking for my ESE kids with IEPs? submitted by /u/QueenBean2621 [link]”

“How did you handle it? I’m currently 10 weeks, having a really difficult first trimester with severe symptoms. Normally I rotate days and nights for a few weeks at a time. I’ve been lucky with chill nights lately and few to no cases overnight (small community hospital). Today was my shift back on days. First case was a mastectomy and I passed out in the OR within an hour. A coworker can cover my next case and I’ll do the floor but I’m really not sure how to handle this. Asking for floor coverage”

“I'm pregnant and I feel like such a bad teacher right now. It's so hard to bring your a game and stay energized when you're dealing with insomnia and puking. That is all. submitted by /u/CherryPeaches [link] [comments]”

“I teach 2nd grade and am in my second week of school (day 7). I just hit 6 weeks pregnant today and the exhaustion/ come and go nausea just continues to get worse. This is my first pregnancy so this is all new to me. But holy cow, this is hard. I have been teaching for 7 years so I am very familiar with beginning of year exhaustion but this is just to a whole new level. I am so nervous about what the next few weeks have in store and how I’m going to cope. Any and all advice from teachers who hav”

I work with a nosy co-teacher. Trying to hide it and find clothes that fit is driving me crazy. I can’t wear dresses all of fall, so any tips or suggestions for stretchy pants or outfit combos? submitted by /u/PistachioIceCream11 [link] [comments]”

“I’m a first year teacher (enrolled in an ACP) and I’m so tired all of the time. It’s not so bad when I get to the classroom, but I dread going back to work during the weekend/evenings. 😗 Is this normal or is it indicative that teaching isn’t for me? submitted by /u/slusheemachinebroke [link] [comments]”

“I'm a fourth grade teacher in AR. For context, half of my homeroom is at a 1st grade reading level and I teach 4th ELA. It is just me, and it's honestly been a brutal start to the year in general. A lot of kids have learning disabilities and intensive support needs. With all of them in one class, keeping attention and scaffolding almost everything has been hard. Then, I found out I'm pregnant. I am 4 1/2 weeks pregnant and already struggling. I have been really emotional and have cri”

“Hi all! I am about 6 weeks pregnant and am teaching a somewhat high-need second grade class. I have already been really struggling to get through the day with nausea, exhaustion, and low energy, and am worried this is only the beginning of a long first trimester. It's definitely not my best work in the classroom. I feel like I need to share with my immediate team what's going on incase I need support (or even just some grace!). I don't plan to tell admin for a while. Thoughts? Is it”

“Hello fellow faculty! I'm about to start the semester and I'm awfully sick from being pregnant (will start teaching at 10 weeks). Anyone has any advice on how to navigate teaching, service, and research during this intense period? This pregnancy is kicking my butt big time. I'm behind on several deadlines, and unsure how I will teach or hold office hours... Any advice is welcome. Thank you! submitted by /u/WorkingCan2763 [link] [comments]”

“Hi y'all! I'm about to start my student teaching semester and just discovered that I am unexpectedly pregnant. :') Does anyone here have experience student teaching in their first trimester? Likewise, does anyone here have experience trying to break into teaching while also having a young baby? I'm actually so terrified and would really value hearing others' perspectives or advice. I feel like I've worked so hard for this and am scared of having to give it up for a while”

“I napped under my desk during my prep, carried a tiny baggie of crackers everywhere and was lucky to have a private style staff bathroom for puking 🤮”

“First baby expected after a longgg 4+ year fertility journey. Obviously I’m ecstatic about finally being pregnant, but the start of the school year coinciding with my first trimester is killing me! Today was the 5th day of school and I’m 6w5d pregnant. The exhaustion is unreal!!! I’m an absolute zombie! How do I make it through the next few weeks!? Hoping 2nd trimester things get better. 😅 submitted by /u/No_Boysenberry_7887 [link] [comments]”

“I am a teacher and my school has decided to drop PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science class on me to teach starting September. I was also given another class that I haven’t taught before and I am concerned about the time that this course will take. I had to sign up for the 80 hour 10 week fully online version. I was just wondering what the workload is like because I am already in a rough situation starting this year and having to do this training for 10 weeks. I appreciate any advice or insight”
