“Not strictly regarding 3D printing, but rather preparations. I have noticed the quality of my prints have started to fall quite drastically. I use Bambu A1 + AMS Lite, did all the maintenance needed, but still the layer lines were not as I would expect them. So I caved in and bought a filament dryer. My spools live comfortably in boxes with dissicant, but of course, ones that are on the AMS are exposed to moisture in the air. First filament I tried drying was Sunlu Wood PLA. Set the S2 to PLA, 6”

“Hey everyone, I'm thinking about setting up my 3D printer in my laundry room, but I'm worried about the humidity. Here is the situation: The washing machine only runs every two weeks, on weekends. When it runs, I hang up two full lines of wet laundry in that room, and it stays there to dry for a full day. During that day, the room will get pretty humid (75-80% humidity). Otherwise the room stays dry. My questions are: Do you think it's safe to leave the printer in there permanently,”

“I have a space pi dryer and had the filament drying for 5 days at 70c but it’s very brittle still. Can somebody send a video of them bending a small piece of pa6-cf so i know what it looks like to have dry filament or did I get a faulty filament. Seems to break in the PTFE tube when doing homing. “Hi everyone! I’m curious how people in Ireland deal with filament moisture, especially given how humid it can be here. I’m mainly interested in PLA and PETG. Do you use a filament dryer, airtight storage boxes with silica gel, or just leave your spools out? Have you actually experienced moisture-related printing issues, particularly with PETG? Or is humidity less of a problem than people make it out to be? Would love to hear what works for you in Ireland. Thanks! submitted by /u/Orga”

“Hey everyone! I'm new to 3D printing and mostly print with PLA on my Snapmaker U1. I live in a city where humidity is usually around 60%, and my filament spools are exposed to the air. When I tried to print with that filament, it snapped in the AMS hub and caused a lot of issues. “Hi all I'm quite new to the 3d printing world, and after 2 weeks of flawless victories, I have made my first mistake. While drying 4 rolls PLA in the bambu lab AMS 2 pro, one of the wire ends of the spool got loose. As the thing has turned for 8 hours the filament was not tight on the spool anymore causing warping on the wire. I took the worst bit off, rolled it out for 400 grams or so and rerolled the entire thing. The last 100-150 grams got some bends in it like the image. Can the P2S stil”

My thought was to put the dryer above the printer on a shelf or inside a cabinet with bowden tubes coming out of it. “Was spending weeks chasing random stringing and brittleness, turns out my rolls were just absorbing moisture in a ~65% RH room. Tried small sealed boxes first, then consolidated everything into one cabinet with desiccant — it now sits at ~25% RH. “those of you who are hobbyists with multi-filament printers (4 or more), are you realistically able to use your filament before the humidity gets to it? i'm ready to upgrade from my ancient flashforge creator pro (which has 2 extruders), and have my eye on a prusa with the indx 4 tool, but it seems like i'll still have to do lots of loading and unloading since i generally don't print enough to use 4 spools of filament before they go bad. is there a real use case for hobbyists?”
