3D printers ruin prints with uneven layers

Users report consistent issues with uneven layers on 3D printer walls, despite proper bed leveling and calibration. This wastes filament and time, particularly for large or detailed prints.

“Hello everyone! I’ve run into issues with some 3d printers at work that end up with gross looking prints. I recently replaced the nozzles because they were very worn. I installed everything, made sure they were seated and good, and they even handled a couple prints good. After a day or two, three printers had print failure resulting in similar wonky prints. One I did not replace anything on ended up with the “Death Blob” around the nozzle, along with one that I did replace the nozzle on. The thi”

“So i just fired up my 3d printer after months of not using it, this is my third attempt at this print and the left side is okay and the ride side is horrible. both side have bumpes and weird lines and divits, and then the right side has the same but have the layers dont exist and are just stringy lines. the nozzle is at 210 the bed is at 60 and im pretty sure the bed is level, there are bumps in the magnetic plate but it shouldnt be this detrimental, the z offset is at -2.5ish but that is what w”

“Hello everyone, somehow the surface of my latest print is really bad. I printed it twice: once with a monotonic line surface pattern and grid infill, and the second time with a concentric top pattern and gyroid infill. What could cause this bad result, and is it due to my filament or print settings? I am using PLA from Sunlu. The rest of the print looks perfect, just as usual, so I concluded it cannot be wet filament. Edit: ironing is off in both. submitted by /u/microscripts [link]”

“So this surface is flat, but the opposite surface has angles, it causes this pattern. How do i make it flat as it should be? Edit, its esun pla. Centauri carbon 2. Tuned for the most part. submitted by /u/ihavenowingsss [link] [comments]”

“Hi, can someone shed some light on why the corners look like this one both of these parts from two diff builds/printers? Here are the settings used: On the left: Bambu H2D (overture matte pla) Rectilinear type, top surfaces (5 layers) 60mm/s speed 20% flow Default spacing and inset Direction at 0deg On the right: A1, same material and settings Also saw it at 30mm/s with 18% flow submitted by /u/yeoldeprune [link] [comments]”

“I'm using bambu slicer and went with the default rectilinear settings. Any help would be lovely. I'm using bambu A1, sunlu grey pla+ submitted by /u/Dazzling_Buy_1934 [link] [comments]”

“I added Ironing 60mm at 30% top surfaces + supports. Otherwise all default settings. How do I get all top surfaces to look smooth? Model made in tinkercad. Literally a rectangle with svg text on top. Help! submitted by /u/Mountain-Bag-8993 [link] [comments]”

So far I still haven’t figured this issue out. Sorry for the repost, but I’m just trying to get this fixed fast and I’ve gotten desperate submitted by /u/WannaToyDesign [link] [comments]

“Hey People, When ironing (with PLA), no matter the speed/flow levels I choose I get some raised lines throughout the print similar to what’s in the image. I’ve done TONS of test prints, testing between 10-100 in flow/speed. Next I’m thinking of running the 10-100 test and change the line spacing between 0.1mm -.2mm. Any tips would be appreciated. Losing my mind. I use the Elegoo Centauri Carbon printer with Canvas and use the Elegoo slicer. submitted by /u/danjschrank [link] [c”

“The walls of the print feel pretty smooth and uniform, but at certain angles you can see these horizontal stripes on the wall. Is this standard for a FDM printer or can I calibrate something like VFA to remove these? Im printing on a Bambu P2S with the standard 0.2mm printing profile, using the generic PLA filament profile. Ive change some small settings but drastic within the bambu slicer. submitted by /u/AtlasOgreStrydr [link] [comments]”

“From my latest print, I think my bed was not level, but I'd like to know if the bed would be the only cause, or if there is some other parameter I could change to avoid this. Plastic is some EasyABS from Sunlu, and I print at 235°C, 75mm/s (well within spec for this filament according to the manufacturer, although possibly a bit hot for this speed), and with the bed at 95°C. My printer (ender3v2) is equipped with an enclosure to keep the heat in. submitted by /u/A_Crawling_Bat [l”
