“Every collision center I've been too, just says oh we cant work on aluminium and we can just replace it. Seems excessive to pay 3k for this dent. The door still work fine. So I'm asking you guys here... can this be repaired reasonably well or just worth replacing the whole door?”
“tailgate has a gap now and i cannot figure out if its beaus of its damage or the panel, can thiss be total? i was reversing”
“Yes, at least. You need new doors and at minimum fender and bumper work. Not even accounting for things under those panels that are clearly broken or damaged.”
Drivers are shocked by unexpectedly high repair estimates after accidents, often exceeding $10,000 for basic damage like doors, fenders, and bumpers. The costs appear to include hidden damage under panels that wasn't visible at first inspection.

“It depends if you damaged the paint. If the door needs repainting, start at a thousand. If the rear door needs to be blended, it will cost a lot more. [re: Car door scratch]”
“That’s around what it cost to repair the hail damage on my car, and OP’s damage is even worse. [re: Am I toast?]”
“In Arizona. My vehicle was rear ended and eventually totaled. I now have a salvage title and dented bumper/tailgate. Drives just fine. How much do I need to repair to pass inspection? DMV website says the primary reason is to make sure parts aren’t stolen. If I haven’t replaced anything, nothing is stolen, right? Any advice is appreciated! submitted by /u/KUDOSTOYOUGOODSIR [link] [comments]”
“So i know the bumper, and trunk lid will need replaced, im more conceded about the middle part, that is part of the body, and do you think the crash bar supports would need pulled out under the bumpers as well? Body possibly tweaked from this kind of accident?. Thank you. submitted by /u/Ill_Attention_1800 [link] [comments]”

“The left side already had a gap, but after the fender bender, it’s noticeably larger. There’s also a new dent underneath the left side of the grille, and the headlight is slightly popped out at the top-left corner. Im not sure if I need to replace the hood, bumper, or both? submitted by /u/evtrns [link] [comments]”

“There’s a deep gash on the bottom right of my bumper and some dents/marking on the left side as well. Would it be better to get both sides fixed or replace the entire bumper? submitted by /u/Vegetable-Bathroom47 [link] [comments]”
“I accidentally hit a curb while turning onto the road. Totally my fault. Curious how much it would be to repair or would the entire side panel have to be replaced? submitted by /u/Complete_Abroad_2731 [link] [comments]”
