“I have no doubt that it would be a lot more in a HCOL... I just based mine off what a local shop charged a relative that had similar damage to their car. They don't live in a HCOL area, probably one that most would consider a low cost area. But that's a problem when someone…”
“Junkyard fender in the same color, new bumper support, probably a new fender brace, sure that’s bent under there. Possibly headlight if the mounts are broken.”
Bumper repairs are unexpectedly expensive, potentially costing upwards of $500 to $1000. The complexity involves potential painting issues and hidden damage like bubbles under the paint.

“What’s my best bet to fix this bumper? Trying to avoid a shop and DIY this. Any specific glues, tapes, etc. submitted by /u/MARROKINGX [link] [comments]”
“If it’s a crack it’s previous body work. Nothing else it can be on a bumper like this. Also it’s a plastic bumper so it’s not going to rust. [re: Front passenger side scratch]”
“Is it fixable or I better change the entire bumper? Do you think there could be any chassis damage ? submitted by /u/iso-head [link] [comments]”
“Of course. $1000 to repaint the bumper. [re: Could someone please tell me if it’s worth trying to offer the driver of this vehicle money?]”
“Had a huge branch fall and dent the roof of my car (attached picture below). I am not the most knowledgeable about cars but is $1,352.53 reasonable for this fix? also thank you everyone who is commenting. I know I only have to pay $500 with insurance I just want to make sure this is done properly. submitted by /u/Some_Natural1545 [link] [comments]”
“Obviously no, this can’t be repaired DIY. That said, we here on this sub truly appreciate you not asking specific pricing and getting upset when we tell you this needs to go to a body shop and if you’re deductible is 500 or 1k it’s still worth it if you want your car to look good for years to come. If it’s a lease they are going to want their money back for that as well but you have both no n [re: Good but affordable body shop around dfw]”
“Looking to fix big dent on back of my tailgate. Is there any diy to it? submitted by /u/Extra_Cell_7351 [link] [comments]”
“Touch up paint on the cracked/ missing paint. Then live with it and don't do it again. Body shop will cost you decent amount of money to have it properly fixed. [re: Can this dent be fixed?]”
“That used bumper would have cost more than $125 lol [re: Before and after the repair.. Thoughts?]”
“For $125 they did great. That cover plus paint at any shop would run atleast $1000. You’re being too picky for the price you paid man. [re: Before and after the repair.. Thoughts?]”
“I’m not happy with the result. Am I just being too picky, or is there actually something wrong with the repair? Should I take it to another body shop for a second opinion? paid $125 submitted by /u/Legitimate_Wind6543 [link] [comments]”
“That is a very high sheet. Even with a bumper replacement it’s super high. The mechanical labor is nuts. 6hrs@$250/hr for ADAS calibration? Holy shit [re: This is paintable right? Or Am I crazy??]”
“Airport valet damaged my rear bumper and I just noticed a couple weeks later 🙄 submitted by /u/APx_22 [link] [comments]”
“nice, thanks for that! Did you post a before picture somewhere else? [re: Plastic cx-50 bumper repair diy]”
“Sanded down deep scratches with 200-600 grit. Used bondo to fill. Sanded down. Used texture paint. Wouldn’t know the difference. Cost me $20. I don’t have a before but the scratches were super deep into the plastic. submitted by /u/Beneficial-Bug-7540 [link] [comments]”
“2021 corolla front bumper. can these cracks be fixed? the auto shop quoted me 1500 and said they’d need to replace the entire bumper. is this right? can it be fixed for cheaper? do you think it’ll be okay if i don’t fix it? like will it get worse? please help submitted by /u/Spiritual_Olive_5085 [link] [comments]”
“Thanks. That was my original plan, to just paint the tailgate but if other parts of the car will eventually get like that, then just fixing the tail gate would be a waste of money imo”
“Hi, I know nothing about cars and am not handy at all, so am humbly wondering if there’s an easy fix to to the damage shown here - for either me to do or a body shop. Image is off the passenger side lower fog/turn signal light. Car is a 2016 Prius C. The plastic piece holding the light in place has snapped off. I’ve already ordered a replacement. The light is pushed in and loose, but still attached and works. There is a tear in the bumper. The bumper was initially a little loose on that side too”
“If that’s what you want to do then you’re pretty much there. Not much more is going to buff out so just touch up the rest yourself. And I wouldn’t be hitting that too hard with the buffer anyway as it looks like the bumper has been repainted before already. Unless that’s just the quality coming from the factory but that’s not great”
“To be clear, nothing other than repainting will make it look like it never happened but buffing and touch up pen can make it look 80% better”
“Well what did you ask them to quote? If you simply asked them to fix that…that are going to quote repainting and reclearing the bumper…and $1000 is totally in line for what that would cost. If you just want them to buff and leave whatever scratch doesn’t buff out, then you need to ask them to quote that.”
“Agree with a commenter above go to detailing shop or pdf they’ll buff it for less. Replace fender to get this “you did the best” feeling, leave bumper as you’ll get more later”
“The bumper would be repaired and repainted cause those scratches won't get buffed out. A touch up pen is not going to make it look like new either.”
“How bad does these two dings look? Do you think a mobile PDR tech could fix the rear quarter panel ding? submitted by /u/Illustrious_Gur2711 [link] [comments]”
“Dent is big could mean the size of a fist or it could mean the entire panel is stoved in. If it's the former that's very cheap. If it's the latter that's far too cheap.”
“Yeah, 600 is crazy cheap. A bumper job is $1500-$2500 depending on ADAS in my market.”
“Dent is big and complex on a $5,000 car with 220,000 miles. I would remove the bumper and they don;t have to blend in the door. Is that a reasonable price for a popular car? submitted by /u/Glittering-Ad5809 [link] [comments]”
“I also took some measurements. I know the pictures looks like ALOT of filler, but the thickest part in this repair is right at the bottom of the body line (on the door side) and it measures at 3.5mm of Everglass (which is a little over 1/8".) The thickest part at the rear quarter panel, which is the body line itself, measure at 3.0mm (2.0mm of which is Everglass, and the rest is Gold) I am not exceeding the industry standard of 1/4". Also, to put it blunt, the industry standar is calle”
“It will cost as much as the trim costs and then replace yourself but do that if it bothers you”
“Anyone know if this can be realigned to close the gap? I’m not concerned about the scratches. I’m just looking to fix the alignment. submitted by /u/Sea_Feeling_7907 [link] [comments]”
“Try a pointless dent repair, I have got recommendation from bodyshops in the past.”
“I'd say it only makes sense if you plan on giving away this car to someone and want to give them something decent. Financially it makes no sense, but you obviously can afford it either way.”
“When you say "hole in the bumper where it meets the fender/tire?" I have no idea what you are talking about because I'm car illiterate. I'm going to also try and take a photo of what I see behind the wheel well tomorrow.”
“Initially received an estimated price of 4k. After inspection, it went to 11k. Looking at the damages, is that a little too much? Probably going to yank the car from this body shop and get it into an insurance-approved body shop. What do y'all think? Does the damage look like 11k to fix? submitted by /u/hypertensed154 [link] [comments]”
“I imagine the cheapest fix would be to slap an aftermarket steel bumper on and call it a day.”
“Got quoted $1500 AUD to repair this, is that a good price? submitted by /u/Quiet_Consequence326 [link] [comments]”

“You want touch time or shop time? Just kidding take it to a shop and let them tell you”
“Try it yourself and it becomes a $1000 job lol. So yeah, $400 is not bad considering it will be done by a pro”
“Try it from the inside first, no need to spend moey for that. Your hand is free of charge. Its easier than you think.”
“Was wondering if this is a reasonable price for this repair. I am located in NE Ohio. Thank you. submitted by /u/apeaches92 [link] [comments]”
“Just wondering if this scratch was possible to fix, not worried about how much it costs, just if it’s able to be fixed at all. submitted by /u/KeyAttempt925 [link] [comments]”
“Those kits don’t work, this will need professional tools and skill to repair. Definitely not going to be cheap”
“If it is a new ish car low kms overall good then tbh i would just find a reputable indepedent bodywork specialist / hobbyist and pay max like 2-3k to get it as good as possible”
“Or maybe get 3 quotes and choose the middle one. The most expensive place isn't always the best is it?”
“Shop repainted and slapped the bumper back on. I would review the estimate before calling. If it states to repair the holes, then I would take it back in.”
“That's more than a light scratch. Thats an impact to the bumper. Plastic is deformed. Certainly fixable but that's definitely why your bumper popped out on top. Bring it to a body shop.”
