“G’day ladies and gents, Kiwi here, not sure if this is the right sub, but I’m after some recommendations for a decent headset for work. I work in civil drainage/construction, so I’m right next to heavy machinery for most of the day. We use RTs, and I’m looking for something with…”
“I’m looking for a pair of earbuds with really strong ANC that can actually block out the noise from welding and grinding. I work in a well-isolated area where I can safely use earbuds, so I’m not concerned about being unable to hear people or hazards around me.”
“I bought some comply tips for my buds and surprisingly don't like them at all. I actually don't find them more comfortable and they ended up letting in more outside noise resulting in me having to turn up my headphones.”
Construction workers are dealing with issues ranging from equipment failures (boots, earbuds) to concrete problems and contractor misconduct. There's also concern about TWIC card eligibility and navigating company acquisitions.

“Boys, fellas, men, what are you using for hearing protection? I just use the cheap ones that go around my neck. Do you think the IsoTune ones are worth it, if so which one? Thanks guys submitted by /u/Worried_Dig_3679 [link] [comments]”
“Can someone recommend discrete or mini earbuds that are hard to notice on a jobsite? Preferably hard to notice by the safety guy? submitted by /u/thehummer76 [link] [comments]”
“I have a severely worn out pair of Beats Studio buds that I’m not displeased with and I’m looking for a something new. My coworkers say that the shockz brand bone conduction headset is the way to go but I’m curious what other people in the business are running. submitted by /u/anders-81 [link] [comments]”
“Job won’t let us use Bluetooth headphones for safety purposes and I realize how ANC works, but figured I’d try asking. I’m on my break and have very little time to research these things. Ears are still ringing even though I use in ear foam plugs that I shove in as far as possible with the proper rolling technique and noise cancelling earmuffs. Only 3 months into the job and still adjusting, but the ringing in my ears keeps me up at night. submitted by /u/CyberFunkyMonkey [link]”
“Love mine, there's a new brand called Elgin, when mine die I'll try the Elgin brand, a lot cheaper”
“I love my work tunes. I used my Sonys before I got them and expected the Work Tunes to be much more of a sound downgrade than they are.”
“I use my Galaxy Buds with noise cancellation turned on, and then wear 3M behind the ear muffs on top of them. Doesn't let my hat sit all the way over my ears, but plenty low enough and all but eliminates the drone entirely.”
“I’m an electrician apprentice. Wondering what guys are using for earbuds? I’d like to have Nrr rated so the safety guy can’t say anything about them. I’m hard of hearing so having pass through or amplified voices would be nice. I was considering the walker disruptors or the Klein jobsite earbuds with situational awareness. Just wanted some insight from people who use them the way I would. Any suggestions would be appreciated! submitted by /u/mikelmyerdc [link] [comments]”
“Didn’t happen to me but a sweet lady that I try and help where I can, she’s nonunion so most of her equipment is her personal property. Should she force the GC to buy her a new extension cord? The theory of why it was cut is because the job is nearly finished and the extension cord was plugged in the middle of the hallway with out GFCI, but still think it is bad to destroy others property when it could just be unplugged Note: This is Commercial construction on high rises submitted by”
