Issues range from unexpected pending charges and auto-pay complications during bank transitions to unexpected credit limit reductions and discrepancies between account balances and transaction postings. Friday was my due date and normally I see the payment processing early in the morning. Fridays didn’t process until Saturday - a day later and on today I see a $25 late charge. Did this happen to anyone else or did BoA have some type of technical issues happening. I’m sure boa will refund me, but now I’m going to h”
“This entire thing is extremely confusing. You said you paid the minimum payment instead of the balance. Why would there be a late charge unless you paid the minimum late? You also said you have autopay set up, so the bill gets paid on time regardless, why would there be a late charge? Just make a second payment for the rest of the money owed and you are done. You can make more than one payment a month as long as you aren't maxing the card, paying it to 0, then maxing it again in the same mon”

“ive seen older posts with ppl experiencing the same thing before, but this is the first time ive experienced it myself. none of the purchases ive made in the last 2 days are showing up on my pending or posted transactions on any of my cards. is this something to be worried about or is it just a maintenance issue on Capone's end submitted by /u/Embarrassed-Mode7876 [link] [comments]”
“So my only credit card (Capital One) is on Autopay from the bank and today (The 17th) is when it was supposed to pay off. It always pays off on the 17th. For some reason it didnt autopay today. I manully paid it off but my credit card app is saying I will get a late fee. Also my banking app said my credit score dropped by 50 points. I am not sure if it dropped because of it or if something else happened that I am unaware of. ETA Credit Score that went down by 50 was a Vantage Score from my Credi”
“Thank you a lot, I’ve been worried about it. I should be able to pay more than the minimum as well. Should it stay the same even with CapitalOne taking over, do you know? [re: $4,700 Discover Balance payoff]”
“The first transaction seemed to “cancel” but then I noticed my Citi card was double charged. I waited to see if one of the charges to my card may fall off, and to my surprise both posted. This was about 3 weeks ago, went to Walmart CS and they basically said sorry. Can’t help you. So I filed a duplicate charge dispute and to my surprise Citi sided with Walmart and declined the chargeback? Two charges for the exact same amount down to the penny. Interestingly one has a date and time. The other ju”
“Head over to the Capital One and Ally subs sometime. It’s just inconsistent enough for folk that don’t have cash flow to miss a payment because of “early” paychecks not being early but on-time. I get what your saying, the only reason companies send direct deposit early to begin with is so it gets to you on your pay date on time sending over ACH but yea, why should the bank keep the float. If the banking system actually got off their collective butts and started using RTP and/or FedNow, direct de”
“Then you are fine. It takes time for processes to happen. If you are concerned, just keep the email that you got acknowledging your payment. [re: Submitted payment but it’s not reflecting in account yet.]”

“Hey, thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to help me out! For context, I’m a young adult who neither has nor spends too much money, I’m just trying to get a credit score going for myself. I have a BoA travel rewards card and it’s my first credit card. This was my second month having the card. The first month I paid off the entire balance before the due date so no big deal. This month, I was somehow mistaken about the payment due date. I have a recurring minimum payment set up just in case”
“Chill dude, lots of people like me are susceptible to forgetting about charges and having the total run up too high. One way to prevent that is to pay right away. No law against it. [re: I had 820 now I'm 720 what do I do?]”
“but did you pay directly at the airline/hotel website or third party website? With hotels specially the problem might be that hyatt may physically swipe the card at reception for hold and final payment, which may void online shopping? [re: Confused b/w Bofa CC online shopping vs travel category.]”
“I then took a screenshot of the card when you login Wise but it doesn't show transactions. Its impossible to get a screenshot "view" that shows the card, transaction, and name in one view. On the mobile device, it also block screenshots. “I’m confused, your account is currently at a $0 balance with no charges (like overdraft) putting it in the negative? The way you word it seems like you are in the negative because of the overdraft fees currently. If it has any overdraft fees you owe most banks will not let you close the account with out paying because it is not at 0, you owe the overdraft so it would be negative $160 (the overdraft fee) [re: Just a vent]”
“We happened to catch it before Accounting issued a check, but I guarantee you, watch for this double charge. submitted by /u/babywhiz [link] [comments]”
“I had same problem with my card before, not Robinhood but different bank. The interest thing after paying full is annoying, nobody explains it properly and you just see charge appear and think you did something wrong. Closing was good call, if support is lying to you then what's even the point. I rather take less cashback and have card that works normal. [re: Scam Alert - Robinhood Gold Card Interest Fee]”
“They were incomplete. On the October 1 due date your Total Balance was 5.5k. that includes your statement of 2.5k that closed approximately September 9th (we know this because of when the interst charge posted) and your new charges. The auto pay, as directed, drafted the statement balance - under normal circumstances this will avoid interest and fees. The $88 interest on October 9th is for previous bill cycle, approx September 10th - October 2nd when the payment posted. That's 22 days of car”
“What happens A Statement becomes paid in only two ways. The user posts its payment Draft, or the daily job finds one recorded Transaction from the card's Pays from Account into the card, within ±10% of the Statement Amount, dated from the day after the period closes to 5 days after the due date. The Statement page has no action to mark it paid or to pick the payment. So these real payments leave it unpaid for good: paying from a second bank account (not the Pays from Account); paying in two part”
“I honestly don’t know how this happened. I even knew beforehand that Credit One is predatory and not to go with that line. I just went to make a payment and noticed it wasn’t Capital One. Anyways, I’ve only had it since August and my credit score has gone up 100pts already. I haven’t been stupid with it but my question is: How do I get out of this? What do I do? Do I pay it off and never touch it again? I’ve never willingly closed a credit line and am still trying to raise my credit score as I’d”
“My assumption has always been overdue payments begin at the time payment is due My last payment was due 9/8, and didn’t realize my auto pay failed …long story short I’ve been traveling abroad since then, and only discovered I had an unpaid amount on 10/8 (what I assumed was 30 days past due), and didn’t get the full payment through until 10/9 (what should be 31 days) However I called Chase next day and they said it wouldnt be reported 30 days overdue. I thought the CSR was just being nice…but th”
“You should have resolved this 3+ weeks ago when the statement was issued, and arranged to setup ACH from your bank account. And obviously you DO have an account with Chase. The credit card. You will have to call them with your routing info for your checking/savings account and resolve it today before it is past due. [re: How do I pay off my Amazon prime visa??]”

“Hello, I did a balance transfer for a 0% for 15 months card. Unfortunately the balance transfer took too long and my autopay went through for the statement balance on the old card. The strange thing is that I got an email yesterday from the old credit card that the balance has been paid on full which I assume is the transfer and then today the autopay was deducted from my bank like normal but there is nothingin that account. The new credit card shows the balance and that the transfer went throug”
“If a merchant it fails to settle a transaction within three to five business days the authorization can fall off the account and the funds will appear in your balance however when the merchant then settles the transaction those funds will be deducted from your account balance on the settlement date. This oftentimes causes confusion because you will see the authorization deducted from the account for that three to five day window and when it falls off the funds just appear in the account again un”
“Just called Chase and they told me it would not be reported since I paid already and had good payment history with them. So there is actually some grace period [re: Paid my card 30 Days + 30 mins late will it definitely be reported?]”
“I called and the rep said they wouldn’t report it so we will see! [re: Paid my card 30 Days + 30 mins late will it definitely be reported?]”
“So you noticed you were literally on the last day to pay without a credit hit, and decided instead of paying right away to procrastinate further? I assume it’s all automated and I’m screwed but is there any chance it won’t get reported to the bureau? It's possible Chase has some internal threshold they don't consider late, you'll just have to wait and see. I wouldn't get your hopes up. I vaguely remember from a situation years ago a csr from a card company may have told me they a”
“So I just did something really dumb. I didn’t realize I had ~25% from the minimum payment owed on the last due date (9/8) still left on my 10/8 due date today (I inadvertently only made partial payment the last cycle) I didn’t see a “past due” flag on my Chase dashboard but I checked my last statement and it showed I owed a past due amount I live west coast, I noticed the past due around 7:30pm before eating dinner. I figured I had until Midnight Pacific time to make a payment before a 30 day la”

“I've missed a credit card payment twice and both times, I've called them and asked them to remove the fee and interest. Both times they've done it. One time, I missed the email (set up autopay after that). The other time, it was my first payment, and I thought autopay was setup but it wasn't. I mention this because it wasn't like I was consistently late or missing payments, but it was a one-time thing (two different credit card companies) and the company would rather keep you”
“Ok wait for the transaction to settle first. Pending charges are just authorizations / temp charges, and your statement is only generated from settled transactions. If it still looks wrong after the transaction posts/settles, then contact the merchant or your bank, whoever's in charge of it. [re: EMI conversion related doubt from merchant end]”
“My minimum payments are due every 19th of the month Your statement balance is due on 19th. and it looks like my statements are posted every 24 of the month 24 of the previous month. You make it sound like it's 5 days later when it's 25 days earlier. When is the actual payment due? On the 19th. When would be a good time to pay the balance: The day the Statement is posted or on the Due Date of the minimum payment? Due date of minimum payment isn't a thing. It's due date of the whol”
“I recently had a purchase for around $600 put on flex pay. Then because the item wasn’t useable, the original merchant refunded me in full. I now go to Citibank to tell customer service I need that plan cancelled as it was repaid in full and they cancel the wrong plan, and now suddenly my refund is no where on my statement (after it had previously shown and posted) ??? Was the agent just not paying attention? My original plan I asked to cancel is still active submitted by /u/theskiis”
“just happened to me too. utter bs as I didn't get any notification, until i had my credit card purchase declined. wouldn't even had found out otherwise”
“Would give you 50 upvotes if I could. I was super confused when I paid on 7/22, 8/2, 9/1, 9/21. Then today 10/6 both payment processors said I have already used up 2 payments. Turns out they're all made in the same "quarter". The quarters are defined by the payment processors themselves: https://fed.acipayonline.com/hp_faq_irs_mp_p.jsp and does not match with the IRS quarters. I don't have a reference from pay1040 but I assume they enforce the 2 per quarter limit the same way.”
“I check my accounts every night and when an amount goes from "pending" to "posted" I pay it. It's a daily habit that lets me keep on top of balances and even though I have my cards set to let me know about every transaction, it's a good way to double check that my cards are t being used fraudulently.”
“And even if you are worried just have it autopay the stmt balance a week ahead of due date on the rare chance it may fail (I’ve never had it fail)”
“I actually called to pay it and my husband asked me to inquire about it being waived. I wish I would have just paid it now but the chase associate was so kind of the phone and insured me it would be a zero balance after closure. Clearly that did not happen. I really wish I could get a lawyer I am so upset but my husband thinks its more of a headache and to just not do business with Chase again. Its just shady how they did me so I definitely wanted to share the experience.”
“Right I thought you need to opt into overdraft now which is why banks started doing the service cover draft or something instead of overdraft...”
“yes, OP, remove all the ACH withdrawal authorizations, take your power back. Pay back on your terms, what you can when you can.”
“OTOH, can the bank do any more than charge him an overdraft fee? They can't charge him interest (IIUC) on the overdrawn amount or another overdraft fee. They're going to sit tight and wait for their $17,000 whether they like it or not.”
“I need to make sure it is/gets paid so I don’t lose plus. I need plus for certain things. But with contradictory things I’m seeing going on left and right like “payment did not go through,” then “paid,” I am like very confused as to what is going on. I have money now, but nothing has been taken out of my account. I checked and that’s what it tells me. I have no idea what is going on, but I do need to make sure it is/gets paid because I do need plus. submitted by /u/Important_Sorbet [”
“I made an accidental credit card payment ($17,000) instead of my minimum payment, and usually what would happen is the bank would reverse it as insufficient funds, however due to a internal bank error the payment got withdrawn out of my checking account leaving me with a negative $17k checking account balance. The CC is investigating to send a refund check for the payment so I can make my checking account positive again, but worried it will be too late and my checking account will be charged off”
“Hi everyone, I have AutoPay enabled on my OneCard, and I now want to turn it off. However, I cannot find any option in the OneCard app to disable AutoPay. The situation is honestly very frustrating: - OneCard app shows AutoPay as “Active” with a green status. - There is no visible Disable / Turn Off / Cancel AutoPay option. - My bank says that the mandate can only be cancelled through the merchant. - Razorpay has also said that they cannot do anything and that it has to be handled by the merchan”
“Wait. Wells Fargo for example is horrendous and sometimes takes 1-3 days for transactions to show as pending or post. Amex on the other hand has been generally instantaneous in reflecting in the dashboard.”
“Always push the payment at least a couple days early, ACH timing is too unpredictable to cut it that close”
“No. It doesnt really matter what the banks do behind the scenes. If you initiate in time, you're good. And that means, as others have said, from the credit card. Make a payment in their app. Don't bill pay from the checking account”
“I just got a Chase checking account I will have my direct deposits moved to but I have a BofA credit card, if I pull a transfer payment from my BofA app on the credit cards due date which is exactly the day I’ll be paid on my Chase checking , will I be penalized with interest for a late payment since I know transfers take 1-3 business days. Anyone been in a similar situation? Credit card due date is the 14th this month and cycle ends the 17th submitted by /u/GoldImpact5920 [link] ”
“You have double paid is what happened. The statement balance was your balance as of September 11. The statement balance won't be updated again until October 11. That is the reason you saw the same number. The September 11 statement balance was due on October 2, and you paid it twice: once on September 12 and once on October 2. Make no more payments until after October 11. In all likelihood, you have overpaid and will now have a negative balance on your card. A negative balance on a credit ca”
“the due date of my last statement was the 11th and i paid the 12, which is fine right? with the period of grace they give you? and then in my bank it says a statement balance was due yesterday, oct 2, but it's the exact same amount as the statement balance i had on my aug 12-sept 11 statement. Since september 12 I've monitered to see if the statement balance would change but it hasn't. And I'm confused, because if the last statement ended sept 11, then my new statement should be”
“On September 12, last month, I paid my statement balance of the billing period that went from aug 12 to september 11. My account since then has indicated that a statement balance was due yesterday, oct 2. But the balance i paid september 12 and the balance I just paid today were the exact same amount of money.”
