“It'll take a bit to receive your replacement card. It most likely won't be delivered until the end of the week or next week, I would call your bank on Monday to ask about the missing money [re: I reported my Wells Fargo credit card as lost on Friday, have not received the replacement card in the mail, and my reported balance on my bank account is showing as $9 and previously it was $1930. What is the reason for this?]”
“I am maybe not understanding the question completely but is sounds like... your card is gone, and you're missing over $1900 from your account?... and your asking reddit why the $1900+ is not in your account anymore? If that's the case... it seems that someone stole, or found, your card and used $1921 before you reported your card lost [re: I reported my Wells Fargo credit card as lost on Friday, have not received the replacement card in the mail, and my reported balance on my bank accoun”

“This. I had a fraudulent hotel charge appear on my Chase account. It's currently in dispute. Chase flagged the charge, cancelled the card, and sent me a new card. We'll see what happens with the dispute. [re: Got charged for an uber ride in another country. I disputed it and Citi denied it and asked me to contact the vendor. What should I do?]”

“EDIT: Sorry! To be clear, I already have a credit card with this company. I have used it for years. They flagged my account for fraud (incorrectly) and the only way to resolve it is to mail a photocopy of my ID and a redacted bill. Could someone please explain how a *mailed* photocopy of my ID and a redacted bill will verify my identity? How does verifying my address verify that I am the person physically holding my credit card? I am genuinely curious how this works. Synchrony Bank (PayPal Credi”
“That’s not good. I’ve had two with them and I called both times and then I never heard about it again and was credited. I pay attention to this because I don’t want to get screwed over and then have my bank not help me. [re: Got the Robinhood gold card “you’re off the waitlist” email.]”
“I never had any fraud issues with my small bank. Only once an out of network ATM hacked my debit card and someone drained my account, but they worked around the clock to investigate over a weekend, and returned my money the following Monday. I know I'd never get that kind of service with a big bank. [re: Holy that was fast]”

After I deliver it, first agent told me I had to file a reimbursement claim form. So I did, and it was unsuccessful. Submit another form immediately after. While I'm waiting for that to process, I contact another agent. That agent gives me a reimbursement but it was significantly less than what was owed so I'm assuming they a”

“If it’s a debt card and there’s a dispute, they may issue a provisional credit, or your money may stay tied up while they investigate. If its a credit card and there’s a dispute, the worst thing that can happen, assuming no provisional credit, is a portion of your credit limit held - again, the bank’s money, not yours. If there’s chargeback is not affirmed by the bank, you only pay interest on amounts carried forward. If you pay it the same cycle, there’s no interest charged. I don’t know why yo”
“They are still doing this shit RIGHT NOW !!!! I can never use my damn card between the hours of 12am-3am ! I’m tired of this shit [re: Does anyone have a problem with Citizen’s Bank debit cards locking in the middle of the night EST?]”
“My debit card has over 26 transactions from Cash App, zip, chime and something saying arcane My bank contacted me yesterday to start the fraud claim. I called them today to dispute the posted charges. I was told how it can take 7-10 days for the provisional credit At this point I am spiraling about not being given the money back completely Local credit union and a Mastercard debit card Any insights please? submitted by /u/EmbarrassedResult735 [link] [comments]”

“[Wise] ★ 1/5 (v9.108) — They will steal money from right under your noses. I would NEVER trust them. Months of proving I had made payment with my credit card and not their debit card, they still took money out of my account without a pin being used, and then refused to pay back. Merchant informed them no transaction with them happened. They still took money out and to date have not returned the money. Lost around $180. Matter of principle. Unethical company”
You can still have been hacked and have the card. [re: Am I hacked?]
“Within the last week my debit card had been “lost” but I didn’t get it replaced immediately bc I knew it was in my home. I went out of town and got email saying someone tried to use it. I called the bank and got a replacement card. Two days later i started getting spam emails that were saying I was being signed up for certain things and subscriptions. Some were in a language from Europe….i changed my email info and it stopped. I got back home and found my debit card in the dryer…so now im confus”
“You're going to have to go to the credit union first, explain what you've done with your bank, and that the dispute was declined, and then have them review the footage. After THAT, if there's video evidence, you can have ypur bank reopen the dispute, and ypu should be good to go. [re: Failed ATM transaction, is there anything I can do?]”

“[Coinbase] ★ 1/5 (v14.39.44) — Coinbase I am in the process of creating a fraudulent dispute case against your company you have stolen funds from me with unauthorized charges, I was being charged for coinbase 1 for over a year with no knowledge to my own I’m sure they are stealing from others as well. “A couple of weeks ago my bank caught weird charges coming across and notified me. The charges were all from Xbox in small amounts. I disputed and got a new card issued, no big deal. Then today I wake up to another message from BofA of the same activity from Xbox on my new card! Only this time they didn’t catch it till I lost about $1,600! So of course I immediately canceled my card AGAIN. I hadn’t even had that new one long enough to pay all my bills yet, so I’m not sure how this happened. I use”
“Long story, but a little over a year ago my account through them was somehow compromised. Whoever did it changed my mailing address. I caught it the first time after they ordered a replacement card shipped to the other side of the country. I canceled it, but then they went in and changed both my email and password and did the same thing again like 2 or 3 more times. Total nightmare but anyway, customer service were useless and I wound up having to close my account with them. I had two cards, the”

“Very long story short: I had a former employee use her company card to sign up for damn near every subscription on the planet. Months later and and unknown number of hours and phone calls to my issuer's fraud department they still come in. The only way to stop this to close the account. Moving to AMEX. Fast forward to today and I'm going through a separation and in removing my spouse's card from my account I see the warning that subscriptions will continue to charge. Nope. Not going”
“god synchrony is a nightmare. had a similar thing happen with a different card, they double dipped and then acted like i was crazy when i called them out. their system is held together with tape and prayers i think. the part where they accidentally put your money in a closed account is classic. happened to my friend too, it took them 3 months to find the payment sitting in some ghost account nobody checks. and of course you get hit with all the fees while they "investigate" their own s”

“I can't tell which sites were impacted. If you have used other payment methods like Paypal, Apple Pay, Shop or Google Pay you are likely fine. Also if the payment by credit card went through successfully the first time and you got an order confirmation mail immediately, you are also likely fine. Those fake checkout pages only allow you to enter credit card information and then show you a popup "oops that didn't work" while redirecting you to the correct checkout page of the sho”

“For context, I realized last night I put my credit card info into a phishing site (like ten minutes after I did it). I locked the card and froze my credit, but Chase had an issue so I wasn't able to replace the card yet My issue is there are a few conferences I'm going to in a few months that I gave that card info for; the charges won't hit the card until December. I know for some things it automatically goes to the new card, but also that for recurring things you need to eventually”
“I was sitting at home Friday night when suddenly I get an email from Best Buy saying "Thank you for your purchase". I look at the receipt on my account, and someone in a completely different city financed an iPhone 18 and paid the remainder in cash! I call Best Buy's customer service and watch my emails as they proceed to buy two more! Cases and everything. All cash. They then go and return the cases at another Best Buy for some reason. The rep was completely worthless and of cours”

“It’s possible someone may have had access to your online banking credentials, not just your account numbers. If they can log into your account, they can initiate ACH transfers directly without needing to compromise a physical card. The gas station debit card use is something to flag to Santander, though skimming there would more likely explain card fraud than ACH activity. Santander may be able to review the originating company ID on the Bank of America ACH entry if you ask directly. It may not”
“Using your debit card at a gas station is a really bad idea. I’d say about 75% of the time when an account has been compromised there is recent debit transaction at a shady gas station. “I had unauthorized charges on my bank card it happened 3 times after buying Playstation games on the Playstation website, through my phone. When I called the bank I had to have them remove the permissions manually for the fraud charges website, because it wasnt flagging which is bad. [re: Had a fraud claim on our checking account, got a new account, and now 2 months later the same thing is happening]”
“Ok thank you so much. My balance was positive the entire time, I never spent a dollar from that check because I locked my debit card shortly after I stupidly gave my info out, and the next morning I went to the branch and got both my checking and savings closed. Even if I had tried to spend that money I wouldn’t have been able to because the check didn’t clear until nearly a week after I closed the accounts [re: 18 years old and completely lost following fraud issue - please help!]”
“So this isn't really a SCAM but this community is so knowledgeable about all things shady that I thought I'd ask. So my Chase CC just got hacked - we got a legit email (I checked email address) from Chase that someone had charged $117 to DoorDash. Was this us? We acknowledged that it wasn’t us (we never use DoorDash) and they started the process to cancel card. Because of an abundance of caution from following /scams and /creditcards, I then called the number on back of CC to verify all”
“Possibilities: Computer/devices compromised. Get them cleaned by a professional. Email accounts hacked. Change all passwords on a clean device. One of your merchants you do ACH or autopay with is hacked and doesn’t know it yet. Dont save account numbers on those sites There’s a thief in your household. See if your bank can tell you the name associated with the ACH. [re: Had a fraud claim on our checking account, got a new account, and now 2 months later the same thing is happening]”
“A couple of possibilities spring to mind. The only places that got the new account information were our pre-existing auto-pays for bills. If one of those places had their information compromised the first time, then that same place could be the source for the second time. You may want to arrange payment to these places through some other means that does not involve your account number. Second possibility: Might anyone that has visited your house (or had access to wherever you or your wife keep a”

“a quick walkthrough with fake numbers that plays out like a receipt would help a ton, I tried something similar years ago and got lost the second it asked me to link accounts before I even knew what I was looking at household snapshot first, personal stuff second, let people get oriented before they hand over any data [re: Personal Finance Tracker - Help Needed - Beta Testers]”
“Chargebacks and fraud protection are largely needed in the credit/debit card system because you go around handing people the key to your safe to merchants and ask them to take whatever they want. And pinky promise not to share the key with anyone else.Once you have sane system like pix or upi, there is far less need for chargebacks and frauds.”
“Why would someone do the latter? I understand trying to commit credit card fraud but I don't see the objective with this. I'm dealing with the same thing this week”
“I’ve started accepting payments for small baking business and plan on selling lots of cakes and pies for the upcoming season but I am very afraid of customers charging back hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I thought Zelle was completely safe but I see some say that customers were able to dispute successfully using Zelle. Is there any safe way to safe guard myself? Should Apple Pay be completely out of the question? I want my business to be protected as best as possible. submitted by”
“Worth asking Shopify support to also check your decline rate with the processor, since every test attempt still counts against you whether or not you cancel it after. If you're not already requiring CVV and blocking on AVS mismatch, that stops a lot of these at checkout instead of after the fact, since most card-testing bots don't have full billing info to pass both.”
“My husband's computer got hacked, and we got scammed in the process. So we got new phones, new phone #s, new email addresses, new internet service, new modem, new username and passwords, then got our computers scrubbed and reloaded. Whew!
