“I have a house with some ceiling repairs and while I can’t afford to remove the whole textured ceiling I was hoping I could kind of blend the texture into the existing. I’m thinking lightweight drywall premix and some sand and kinda blob it on…”

“I am a DIYer that dabbles in drywalling. A friend of mine has asked me if I can make some outlet holes disappear. Seems like a tailor-made case a California patch. When I asked about any texture on the walls, they sent this. I’ve not done much texturing and I have not tried anything like this. What is this texture? And how easy is it to recreate? Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/Dry-Football7536 [link] [comments]”
“This is ceiling damage in a mobile home caused by a leaking skylight. I'll cut out and replace the drywall after the skylight is replaced, but I'm at a loss trying to understand how to copy this texture. Any suggestions on what can I try to get close to the texture shown? The entire ceiling looks exactly like the brightest section of this photo. submitted by /u/AllPinesMustDie [link] [comments]”
“hello, question: should i cali patch for simplicity? or add another wood piece on top of the wood (plaster ceiling) and ill have to double drywall it? or any suggestions would help thanks!! submitted by /u/MinimumWear2726 [link] [comments]”
“We had a leak and a section of our kitchen ceiling had to be cut out. The restoration company said they needed to retexture the entire kitchen rather than just patch the repaired area. The work is now done, but I’m unhappy with it. The texture looks noticeably different from the ceilings throughout the rest of our house and the finish looks sloppy to me. The contractor is basically saying this is just how it’s done. Am I being unreasonable, or should they be able to get the new texture closer to”
“Doing some flood cut patching to a (formerly) smooth wall that has been painted several times and resulting in very built up paint roller texture. Any tips on matching to this? I have a hopper/sprayer and was thinking higher pressure, smallest orifice, very thin mud. Thoughts? submitted by /u/lowdirt [link] [comments]”
“I had my ceiling repaired with new knock down texture. I repainted the whole ceiling but the part with new texture keeps coming out shiny. Is it just that the new texture doesn’t match or am I doing something wrong? I am using a sating ceiling paint the previous owner left, I’m thinking to try flat. submitted by /u/cracker_jack_phil [link] [comments]”
“I had some foundation work done and they had to cut into my ceiling in multiple places. I’d like to try to match the pattern if possible. Anybody know how it was done. It’s a 70 year old house, the texture is hard as concrete. submitted by /u/Ldcobalt [link] [comments]”
“Hello, I am going to renovate my living room in my 70+ year old cape cod. I would like to freshen up the ceiling and walls as the drywall is cracked and where repairs happened, does not blend with the texture. On top of that, the living room ceiling is split with a ceiling wooden beam and either of the ceiling texture is different. Also, i don’t like the way the finish of the beam to drywall looks with whatever trim previous owner could get or wads of caulk. My original plan was to demo all the”
“I'm considering texturing the ceilings in my entire house. The ceilings are not smooth and do have some hairline cracks. I want to texture to hide the inconsistencies. First, should I fix all of the cracks before I texture or leave them alone? Second, if I use a roller similar to what is in the picture, do I apply the compound with that roller or use a drywall compound roller and then the textured roller following that? Any other prep work I should be doing before I apply the compound? Any o”

“I had to put a hole in the ceiling to route some romex to the patio. I'm imagining to hide the seam a little bit better I should sand the disk smooth to remove the texture and so a few inches around the hole. Then I can feather it?? Hole is an average size of 5.5". submitted by /u/sgtdumbass [link] [comments]”
“We're painting a living room and I haven't seen this style of texture before, almost looks like it's rolled then stopped and started again wasn't sure if I could get some help on matching this submitted by /u/SirTMachine [link] [comments]”
“Needing to do a patch and before I do I’m having a difficult time figuring out how I’m going to match. I don’t really know if my walls are super lightly done orange peel or if this is untextured with some air bubbles and roller marks. Also these pictures are taken just with my front flash on obviously which makes them look more imperfect. I know it’s hard to tell with pictures but would appreciate any more qualified opinions. submitted by /u/Pawg_S1ay3r [link] [comments]”
“I’m replacing some drywall in my house after a leak and need to match this drywall texture. Does anyone have any insights on how to accomplish this? Rolled on then knocked down, or done by hand maybe? submitted by /u/Inner-Standard-8483 [link] [comments]”

“I've got a 12 foot and a 3 foot long patch of this on a ceiling and I've never done this type of texture before, but because I'm not a coward I said I could texture match this almost perfectly. Now how should I match it ? lol submitted by /u/3Fingrd [link] [comments]”
“The lower texture closest to the fireplace is the new texture. While I can appreciate it’s impossible to match, I do feel this is a bit far off from what I’d expect. The transition texture noticeably flattens out. Lower region looks like either the hopper pressure was slightly too low or the mud was a bit too thin, causing the splatter to lay down flatter instead of building up peaked droplets. Let me know if I’m being unrealistic. Appreciate your time and expertise! submitted by /u/”
“The tape has all come off of the drywall . When I felt the texture with my hand, it almost felt like quickset and not all purpose skim coat. is it worth trying to re-tape and skim over everything, or would it be better to try to forego the tape and skim it with some kind of drywall compound? submitted by /u/No_Reveal3451 [link] [comments]”
“About how much you think it would cost to color and texture match these small patches to the surrounding drywall? Each of these white patches are around 2x2 inches submitted by /u/Pitiful-Fly8642 [link] [comments]”
“Attempting to patch ceiling drywall for the first time. I couldn't get the drywall cutout to be as close to a perfect fit as I was seeing in videos on youtube, so I added this little filler patch to the right in the picture. Is this going to work when I tape and mud over it? submitted by /u/HuskyGardener [link] [comments]”

“I’m DIYing a drywall project that has me doing a large patch job after remodel plans went in a different direction. I have large areas where the new drywall meets the old. The old walls are textured with stomp texture and I’m planning to texture the new areas to match the old. I’m having a hard time finding a consistent answer about what type of primer I should be using before texturing. Some of the patch obviously overlaps the old walls, so I need something that works for both finished and unfi”

“Firstly the first photo is old. I have another round of sanding to go but there is no tape showing I promise. Just to show the surface area I'm working with 😅 My question is how would you go about matching the texture? It seems like random cross hatching but the width between lines are so inconsistent im confused as to what tool (or tools) were used to make the texture. I have an older gentleman supervising and helping me since idk what im doing but we're both kinda stumped on what to u”

“Hi, we had a crew repair drywall and our ceiling and it’s very noticeable to me where they did the repair. This seams don’t lineup exactly and you can see a bump where this seam is. Is it unreasonable to expect for the drywall repair to be unnoticeable? I’m asking because I’ve never had to repair drywall before and I’m not sure what to expect. Thank you. submitted by /u/radio_AT [link] [comments]”

“I removed a wall between two rooms and the rooms had different ceiling textures. One side has some crazy 60’s swirl pattern. The other side has a texture that looks to be rolled on. I would like to cover the swirls with the rolled on texture. Can I achieve this texture by watering down some spackle and roll on with a special roller? Thanks submitted by /u/Docfinkelstein [link] [comments]”

“There’s a whole house like this, potentially asbestos containing previously painted ceiling. Can I just spray heavy texture on this and knock it down? Would I need to skim it? Really looking for an easy way to make this look better without removing it. submitted by /u/playdontpreach [link] [comments]”
